광선추적을 이용한 정밀나사 비전검사용 광학계의 결상특성 향상 (Improvement of the Optical Characteristics of Vision System for Precision Screws Using Ray Tracing Simulation)

  • Recent trends for the miniaturization and weight reduction of portable electronic parts is the use of subminiature components. Assembly of the miniaturized components requires subminiature screws of which pitch sizes are in a micrometer scale. To produce such a subminiature screw with high precision threads, not only a precision forming technology but also high-precision measurement technique is required. In the present work, a vision inspection system is developed to measure the thread profile of a subminiature screw. Optical simulation based on a ray tracing method is used to design and analyze the optical system of the vision inspection apparatus. Through this simulation, optical performance of the developed vision inspection system is optimized. The image processing algorithm for the precision screw inspection is also discussed.

금형설계 변수에 따른 마이크로 티타늄 나사 전조공정의 성형 특성 고찰 (An Investigation of Thread Rolling Characteristics of Titanium Micro-Screws according to Die Design Parameters)

  • Micro-screws can be defined by their outer diameter of generally less than 1 mm. They are manufactured by head forging and thread rolling processes. In this study, the thread rolling process was numerically analyzed for a micro-screw with a diameter and pitch of 0.8 and 0.2 mm, respectively. Through finite element (FE) analysis, the effects of two design parameters (die gap and chamfer height) on the dimensional accuracy were investigated. Three combinations of chamfer heights were chosen first and the corresponding die gap candidates selected by geometric calculation. FE analyses were performed for each combination and their results indicated that the concave chamfer height should be less than 0.3 mm, while a 10 ?m difference in the die gap might cause degeneration in dimensional accuracy. These results conclude that ultra-high accuracy is required in die fabrication and assemblies to ensure dimensional accuracy in micro-screw manufacturing.

나사산 전면검사 비전시스템의 영상 균일도 향상을 위한 조명 광학계 설계 및 해석 (Design and Analysis of Illumination Optics for Image Uniformity in Omnidirectional Vision Inspection System for Screw Threads)

  • Precision screws have a wide range of industrial applications such as electrical and automotive products. To produce screw threads with high precision, not only high precision manufacturing technology but also reliable measurement technology is required. Machine vision systems have been used in the automatic inspection of screw threads based on backlight illumination, which cannot detect defects on the thread surface. Recently, an omnidirectional inspection system for screw threads was developed to obtain $360^{\circ}$ images of screws, based on front light illumination. In this study, the illumination design for the omnidirectional inspection system was modified by adding a light shield to improve the image uniformity. Optical simulation for various shield designs was performed to analyze image uniformity of the obtained images. The simulation results were analyzed statistically using response surface method, from which optical performance of the omnidirectional inspection system could be optimized in terms of image quality and uniformity.

  • In this study, we try to develop the 3D automatic design program of screw thread limit gauge. When users, who have some mechanical information, input some date, they can do 3D-modeling easily like expert. This is one of the merit in automatic design program and the automatic design program can compare screw thread limit gauge made in this study with processed the bolt and nut model. This demonstrates the effective value of automatic design model. Screw thread limit gauge of sort divide into ring gauge of measuring bolt and pin gauge of measuring nut. The new created automatic design program follows the KS.

  • This study is na introduction of ADS in which we have written out programs which can design three-dimensional machine parts and reduce the required time for design them comparing with other CADs. Among the machine parts, screws are commonly used in joining one part to another because of easy handling but welding and rivet are used to join permanently them even thought hard operation. Consequently, w have developed the screw for permanent fixing using stairs type screw threads, which is considered as the main machine parts in joining. For that, we designed permanent fastened screws according to the different rotation angle using VisualLISP and transferred it to ANSYS, structural solution program, to find out allowance load, maximum equivalent stress and where it occur.

초고속 태핑에서 동기오차가 태평특성과 나사품질에 미치는 영향 분석 (Investigation of Influences of Synchronizing Errors on the Tapping Characteristics and Thread Quality in the Ultra-High-Speed Tapping)

  • Synchronizing errors between the spindle motor and the z-axis motor directly influences the cutting characteristics and the thread quality in tapping, because the tapping process is accomplished by synchronizing the movement of the z-axis with the revolutionary spindle motion. Generally synchronizing errors are decided by tile parameters of the servo system and commanded velocity. The excessive synchronizing errors which are induced by the parameter mismatch and high cutting velocity can cause tap breakage due to the abrupt increase of cutting torque or damage the thread accuracy by overcutting the already cut threads. In this paper, the influences of the synchronizing errors on the tapping characteristics in the ultra high-speed tapping will be described and a minimum level of synchronizing errors necessary to maintain the quality of the cut thread will be presented.

  • The objectives of this research are to develop lumber and lower-thoracic pedicle fixation system for Korean patients. To achieve the aimed goals, first, optimized shape design process is performed, and finite element methods are applied to evaluate the mechanical strength of the developed fixation system. Second, appropriate machining experiments are carried out to develop optimum machining conditions for titan~um alloys those are known as one of the most difficult-to-cut material. As the results of this research, new pedicle screw system, considering the morphological characteristics of Korean patients, is developed by applying the finite element analysis, optimum shape processing method and optimize design algorithm.
