미국발 금융대란으로 야기된 세계 금융시장 불안이 장기화되면서 세계경제가 동반침체의 늪에서 허덕이고 있다. 이에 따라 세계교역량이 급격히 둔화되면서 부정기선 해운시장은 5개월 사이에 사상 최대의 호황에서 불황으로 전락했으며, 정기선 해운시장도 침체되는 양상을 보이고 있다. 다음은 정기선 해운시장의 변화와 선사들의 위기극복을 위한 구조조정 등을 정리한 것이다.

우리나라 정기선사는 1970년대 이후 경쟁선사와 다양한 형태의 전략적 제휴를 통하여 꾸준히 성장하여 왔으며 오늘날 세계 정기선시장에서 경쟁우위를 확보하게 되었다. 따라서 우리나라 정기선사의 전략적 제휴에 관한 연구는 제휴전략에 관한 이론을 더욱 더 발전시키는데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다. 이에 따라 본 논문은 정기선사의 경영전략과 전략적 제휴의 역할에 관하여 연구하고자 하며, 다음의 세 가지 연구 질문을 통하여 분석하였다. 첫째, 정기선사의 제휴동기는 무엇인가\ulcorner 둘째, 제휴형태에 따라 제휴동기에 차이점이 있는가\ulcorner 셋째, 정기선사의 경영전략이 제휴형태의 선택에 영향을 미치는가\ulcorner 자료수집 방법은 전략적 제휴의 경험이 있는 해운선사를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시했으며, 각 선사의 제휴 의사결정에 참여하는 담당자와 인터뷰를 통하여 연구목적과 관련된 자료를 수집하였다. 자료분석의 결과, 우리나라 정기선사는 여러 가지 동기에 의하여 제휴를 선택하고, 제휴형태에 따라 각 동기의 중요도에 차이가 있음을 나타내고 있다. 또한, 정기선사의 경영전략이 제휴형태의 선택에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 본 논문은 경영전략에 따른 정기선사의 올바른 제휴형태 선택에 도움을 주는 의사결정 모델을 제시하고 있다.

정기선 시장의 경쟁구도가 급변하고 있다. 최근 시황 불안과 Maersk의 Daily Service 등장에 따라 글로벌 얼라이언스인 GA와 TNW가 전략적 협력체인 G6를 구축하는 한편, 유럽의 독립선사 CMA CGM+MSC체제, 및 Evergreen+CKYH도 전략적 협력을 강화하고 있다. 이에 따라 과거 독립선사와 얼라이언스 간의 경쟁에서 독립선사 간 협력 및 독립선사와 얼라이언스 협력 체제 등으로 다변화되고 있다. 중위권 선사 중심의 얼라이언스체제도 G6라는 초대형 얼라이언스가 등장하는 등 정기선 시장은 새로운 전기를 맞고 있다. 다음은 한국해양수산개발원 김태일 부연구위원이 발표한 "정기선 시장 경쟁구도 변화 전망"의 주요 내용을 요약정리한 것이다.

The organization of the shipping conference -an international cartel, was approved by countries that recognized it for stabilizing routes as well as preventing excessive competition among liner shipping companies and recognized the characteristic of the liner service that is regularly repeated in the international liner shipping market. However, due to competition in bulk transportation and development of multimodal transport through new entrants, power expansion and vessel enlargement of non-aligned shipping companies; the shipping conference started collapsing, and was eventually abolished. As the shipping conference played an important role in the liner shipping market, there were changes in the competition structure of the liner shipping market, and this accordingly drove research on the effects of the abolition of the shipping conference on the liner shipping market. The effects of abolition of the shipping conference on the liner shipping market was analyzed after surveying the factors related to abolition of the shipping conference, and through the use of correlation and multiple regression analyses. Subsequent to the abolition of the shipping conference, the liner shipping companies increased global containership bottoms. Consequently, this led to fierce competition of freight charges. As a result, profitability of shipping companies diminished. However, shipping companies with a dominating cost structure recorded profits, while shipping companies with an inferior cost structure started recording a loss.

최근 전 세계 해운업계에 두가지 변화의 바람이 거세지고 있다. 하나는 해운업체간 M&A이며, 또 다른 하나는, 전략적 제휴(ALLIANCE)의 강화 움직임이다. 이같은 흐름은 세계 해운기업의 생존과 밀접한 관련이 있으며, 국내 해운업계에도 커다란 영향을 미칠 것으로 보인다. 향후 세계 정기선시장은 거대 얼라이언스와 중대형선사들간의 합종연횡으로 경쟁이 더욱 치열해 질 것으로 전망되고 있다.(편집자 주)

The purpose of this study is to analyze the components and to verify the relationship between service orientation, employee satisfaction, customer orientation and business performance of liner shipping company. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, literature survey related to service orientation, employee satisfaction, customer orientation and business performance was carried out and took a empirical analysis by the use of questionnaire method for employees in liner shipping company. The final results and conclusions are as follows; Service orientation of liner shipping company is a major element which has an effect on employee satisfaction. It has also effect on employee's dedicational attitude to achieve company's goal with pride on their duty and organization. In addition to, the relationship between service orientation, employee satisfaction, customer orientation and business performance finally reach to valuable attitude related in customer's satisfaction, and then it will read up high business performance and successful attainment.

In order to obtain and maintain competitive advantage, under rapidly changing maritime environment, liners should make efforts to reinforce their logistics service capabilities. Most of all, for this, shipping lines should accurately recognize and evaluate their logistics service attributes. In the present research, various logistics service attributes for ocean carriers were selected from previous studies and the observed data for 6 main service attributes were collected through a questionnaire survey to 31 maritime experts. Moreover, shipping lines' relative logistics service capabilities were measured by an additional survey process. The comparative gravity between core evaluation factors were measured by AHP technique and the relative capability levels of 2 Korean liners and 5 foreign shipping companies were assessed by utilizing a fuzzy model. The empirical result presents that Korean liners are superior at customer service capability but inferior at freight rate competitiveness. This research shows that Korean liners are ranked at high position for overall logistics service capabilities and focusing on the differentiation strategy but not on the cost related strategy.

This thesis tries to evaluate the economic benefit of space chartering in comparison with time chartering with respect to mega container ships. For this it reviews the method of obtaining ship's carrying capacity such as time chartering and space chartering. Based on this, it tries to make comparison between the time chartering and space chartering on economic base. Finally, it suggest the economic benefit of space chartering with direction for further study.
