Modeling for Power Supply Substation in Maglev Train System (자기부상열차 급전변전소의 모델링)

  • Since a power supply substation of the magnetic levitation train system includes a inverter which is necessary to change the frequency of power, it has a different characteristic comparing to any other railway system. Nowaday a study for determining rating of facilities constituting a power supply system and modeling that system is undergoing. In this paper, a analysis model for the power supply system of the magnetic levitation train using the 3-level inverter is proposed. And the analysis for output characteristic is performed using the PSCAD/EMTDC program. The control method about the output of 3-level inverter for supplying power to loads in magnetic levitation train system is also described.

  • 포항 방사광 가속기의 선형가속기는 2.5GeV 전자빔 용 마이크로웨이브의 발생을 위하여 80MW 급 클라이스트론(klystron) 11대와 입사부 용 65MW 급 클라이스트론 1대를 사용한다. 80-MW 급 클라이스트론 부하를 구동하기 위하여 최대 펄스 정격출력 200 MW(400kv, 500A, 평탄도 4.4 ${\mu}s$)인 대출력 펄스 전원공급 장치(modulator)가 요구된다. 모듈레이터 시스템 용 PFN(pulse forming network) 커패시터의 충전용 입력전원으로써 최대 출력전압 50 kV, ${\pm}$ 0.5% 이내의 전압제어가 가능한 고전압 인버터 전원장치를 적용하여 클라이스트론 부하의 성능시험을 수행하였다. 클라이스트론의 RF 전력과 입력 빔의 특성을 정확히 측정하기 위하여 응답특성이 양호한 측정 장치와 정밀한 측정이 요구된다. 인버터 시스템의 적용에 따른 모듈레이터의 충전 특성을 파악하였으며, 방향성 결합기와 검파기를 설치하여 클라이스트론의 RF 출력을 측정하였다. 본 논문에서는 포항 방사광 가속기의 대출력 펄스 고주파원으로 사용되는 클라이스트론 부하의 성능시험 과정에서 수행하였던 시험장치 개선 및 특성 분석, 고전압(빔전압 320 kV) 및 RF 길들이기의 시험 결과에 관하여 고찰하고자 한다.

Cooling Performance on the Small Diesel Engine (소형(小型)디젤기관(機關)의 냉각성능(冷却性能)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • This study was conducted to obtain basic data for the design of cooling system by the test of engine performance of the power tiller being used widely in the rural area. Among the various factors affecting engine performance, the flow rate of cooling water was considered as the major factor in this study. Motoring loss, output, fuel consumption ratio, torque, heat absorption of cooling water, and thermal efficiency were measured and analyzed based on three flow rates of cooling water such as 15, 20, and $25{\ell}/min$. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Motoring loss of the engine was 1.371 kW at 2,200 rpm., and mechanical efficiency was 79.1% at rated output level. 2. Output power of the engine increased with the flow rate of cooling water increased. 3. BSFC was 282.9g/kW-h at the flow rate of $20{\ell}/min$, and the temperature of cooling water at outlet was $80.9^{\circ}C$. 4. There was a little variation of torque of the engine depending on the flow rate of cooling water. 5. Absorption of heat by cooling water was increased with the increase of flow rate. 6. The highest thermal efficiency of 32.3% at the flow rate of $20{\ell}/min$ was observed.

A Study on High Efficiency OBC with Wide Range Output Using Isolated Current-Fed PFC Converter (절연형 전류원 PFC 컨버터를 사용한 넓은 출력범위를 가지는 고효율 OBC에 대한 연구)

  • OBC for battery charging of electric vehicles mainly consist of two stages including PFC circuit and isolated DC-DC converter circuit. In general, a non-isolated boost converter is used as the PFC circuit, and a resonant converter capable of ZVS (zero voltage switching) is used as the isolated DC-DC converter. In this paper, we propose an OBC composed of isolated current-fed type PFC circuit and buck DC-DC converter. The proposed OBC is easy to configure the circuit and controller, and can cope with a wide output range. In order to verify the validity of the proposed circuit, a prototype 3.3 ㎾ class prototype was fabricated. As a result, the maximum efficiency and the maximum power factor of 99.2% were confirmed under the operational stability and rated load conditions at the output voltage of 150V ~ 400V.

  • In this study, we have established the design techniques, with which we can design and evaluate performance of blades on a horizontal axis current turbine, by application of blade element momentum theory considering the blade tip's loss model, and finally developed the domestic software(MCT-blade V2.0). We have designed and evaluated performance of blades for the 2MW class by using of the software, and confirmed its calculation results from BEMT by comparing those results from commercial code of ANSYS FLUENT. In a state of rated velocity 2.5m/s, the mechanical power from BEMT is calculated as 2,121kW, which is considered to satisfy the electrical power, but the value from CFD is calculated as 1,901kW, which is considered a little deficient for the target output.

  • An RF module in compliance with the IEEE 802.11a standard has been designed and its performance has been measured. Conventional heterodyne architecture with 580MHz intermediate frequency has been realized. Measurement results show that the receiver has a low Noise Figure of 5dB, the maximum gain of 70dB, and dynamic range as wide as 61dB. Also, the SAW filter used for channel selection in the IF section allowed minimum inter-channel interference. in addition to satisfying the RF output power requirement, the transmitter features its output P1dB as high as 34dBm so that the high peak-to-average ratio of the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation scheme can be handled with minimum nonlinear distortion. The output P1dB of 34dBm of the transmitter corresponds to back-off powers of 18dB and 11dB with respect to the output power for the low and the middle frequency bands, respectively.

Determination of an Test Condition for IR Thermography to Inspect a Wall-Thinning Defect in Nuclear Piping Components (원전 배관 감육 결함 검사를 위한 IR 열화상시험 조건 결정)

  • This study conducted infrared (IR) thermography tests using pipe and plate specimens with artificial wall-thinning defects to find an optimal condition for IR thermography test on the wall-thinned nuclear piping components. In the experiment halogen lamp was used to heat the specimens. The distance between the specimen and the lamp and the intensity of halogen lamp were regarded as experimental parameter. When the distance was set to 1~2 m and the lamp intensity was above 60 % of full power, a single scanning of IR thermography detected all artificial wall-thinning defects, whose minimum dimension was $2{\Theta}=90^{\circ}$, d/t=0.5, and $L/D_o=0.25$, within the pipe of 500 mm in length. Regardless of the distance between the specimen and the lamp, the image of wall-thinning defect in IR thermography became distinctive as the intensity of halogen lamp increased. The detectability of IR thermography was similar for both plate and pipe specimens, but the optimal test condition for IR thermography depended on the type of specimen.

  • When zenor diode load current is necessary to be controlled by input voltage as a circuit load, existing voltage controlling method cannot be applied to it because the output current of zenor diode is changed due to breakdown voltage variations. We propose input voltage controlled output current source regardless of zenor breakdown voltage variation due to degradation resulted from severe current applied electronic component life test as a circuit load in this paper. We show breakdown voltage characteristics of this zenor diode circuit through simulation, applying adequate values for each component in order to verify the circuit composed of that method, and then show the result in which output current is controlled by input voltage. We confirmed the output current varies proportional to input voltage, and developed circuit shows a constant value independent of zenor diode breakdown voltage variations due to component degradations.

  • The main objective of a torque controller below rated wind speed is to extract maximum power from the potential wind energy. To do this, the torque control method, which adjusts the torque magnitude and makes it proportional to the square of the generator speed, has been applied. However, this method makes the response slower as the wind turbines are getting larger in size with multi-MW capacities. In this paper, a torque control method that uses the nonlinear parameter of rotor speed for aerodynamic torque as a control gain is discussed to improve the response by adjusting an additional torque magnitude. The nonlinear parameter of the rotor speed could be calculated both online and offline. It is shown that the offline case is more practical and effective in producing power through the numerical simulation of a 2MW wind turbine by considering the real turbulence wind speed.

CANDU-6 Heat Transport System Stability Analysis With Canflex Fuel Bundle (CANFLEX 핵연료를 사용한 CANDU-6의 열수송계통 안정성 분석)

  • The Heat Transport system loop stability of CANDU-6 reactor using the CANFLEX fuel bundle was studied. The Thermal-hydraulic behavior of CANFLEX fuel bundle is similar to the conventional 37-element fuel bundle since the reactor power and the frictional pressure drop through the fuel channel is almost the same each other, Mounter the CANFLEX fuel bundle gives higher critical channel power and more homogeneous enthalpy distributions in the subchannels than 37-element fuel bundle. The SOPHT modelling or the CANFLEX fuel bundle and the Reactor outlet Header(ROH) interconnection line was made and the stability analysis response of Wolsong-1 reactor with CANFLEX fuel bundle was obtained. Without the ROH interconnection line the Heat Transport system loop using 43-element fuel bundle is unstable like the current 37-element fuel bundle. With the ROH interconnection line, however, the Heat Transport system is stable within $\pm$1% of nominal flow. In the Heat Transport system loop stability point of view for Wolsong-1 plant therefore, the CANFLEX fuel loading is considered to be acceptable.
