Cyclic-loading Tests of 113-Scale R.C. Exterior Beam-column Joints With Non-Seismic Detailing (비내진 상세를 가진 1/3 축소 R.C. 외부 접합부의 반복 횡하중 실험)

  • The objective of this study is to clarify the seismic capacity and the characteristics in the hysteretic behavior of RC structures with nonseismic detailing. To do this, an exterior beam-column subassemblage was selected from a 10-story RC building and 6 1/3-scale specimens were manufactured with 3 variables; ⑴ with and without slab, ⑵ upward and downward direction of anchorage for the bottom bar in beams, and ⑶ with and without hoop bars in the joint region. The test results have shown that ⑴ the existence of slab increased the strength in positive and negative moment, 25% and 62%, respectively; ⑵ the Korean practice of anchorage (downward and 25 $d_{b}$ anchorage length) caused the 8% reduction of strength and the early strength degradation when compared with the case of seismic details; and ⑶ the existence of hoop bars in the joint region does not show significant difference because the size of column is much larger than that of beam.m.

  • Shear wall-frame system is one of the most, if not the most, popular system for resisting lateral loads. The core is the primary lateral load-resisting systems, the perimeter frame is designed for gravity loads, and the connection between perimeter frame and core is generally a shear connection. Specially, single plate shear connection have gained considerable popularity in recent years due to their ease of fabrication and erection. Single plate shear connection should be designed to satisfy the dual criteria of shear strength and rotational ductility. An experimental program was undertaken to evaluate seismic behavior of single plate shear connection. The main test variable is the reinforcing detail of connection. Through the experimental program, the cyclic behavior of typical and reinforcing single plate shear connection was established.

  • In this study, analyzing loads transferred to the piles, both easily constructed and mechanically improved pile head design method for the PHC pile is presented. To compare with mechanical capacity of the existing and proposed method, tensile, compression, moment, and shear tests are performed with 11 pieces of full-scaled blocks. As a result, mechanical capacities of the proposed method is superior to those of existing one in all aspects and work efficiency as well.

  • In development of a composite carbody tilting train, the structural safety is especially emphasized on the joint part between composite carbody and metal underfame because it is directly related to the safety of passengers. In this paper, detailed structural analysis including bending and compression was performed for the proposed designs of the joint part, so stress distribution and maximum deflection were obtained and compared to each other. Based on the results of initial designs, modified ones were suggested and the same analysis procedure as before was followed, through which we could confirm the excellence of new design.

  • This paper summarizes full-scale test results on CFT column to flat plate connections subjected to gravity loading. CFT construction has gained wide acceptance in a relatively short time in domestic building practice due to its various structural and construction advantages. Constructing the floor as flat plate is often regarded as being essential for both cost savings and rapid construction. However, efficient details for CFT column to flat plate connections have not been proposed yet, and their development is urgently needed. Based on some strategies that include maximizing economical field construction, several connecting schemes were proposed and tested in this study. Test results showed the proposed connection details can exhibit strength and stiffness comparable to or greater than those of R/C flat plate counterpart.

  • In general, rocket or satellite circuit designers focus on reducing temperature of electronic devices in order to enhance electronic unit's reliability. This paper describes the quantitative analysis result of activation energy as well as device temperature effects to the system reliabilities. The quantitative analysis result shows that activation energy of device has more effects on system reliability than temperature does. And this paper suggests a strategy for enhancement of reliability during devices placement on PCB with simulation results.

  • A flat plate-column connection is susceptible to brittle punching shear failure, which may result in the necessity of shear reinforcement. In previous, experimental tests were performed to study the capacity of slab-column connections strengthened with various shear reinforcement, and the capacity of the specimens with lattice reinforcement are superior to the others. In present study, to study for effects of details of lattice reinforcement, experimental studies was performed. Main parameters are the amount of lattice shear reinforcement, arrangement of lattice and the effect of flexural re-bar. And capacity of the specimen with small amount of lattice reinforcement was higher than the capacity of other shear reinforcement.

  • The study is an experimental test on full-scale flat plate slab-column interior connection. The punching shear on the flat plate slab-column connection can bring about the reason of the brittle punching shear failure which may result of collapsing the whole structure. From the development of residential flat plate system, the shear reinforcement is developed for preventing the punching shear. For making sure of the punching shear capacity, developed for shear reinforcement in slab-column connection, the structural test is performed. The dimension of the slabs was 2620*2725*180mm with square column (600*800mm). The slabs were tested up to failure monotonic vertical shear forces. The presences of S/S bar and wire mesh substantially increased the punching shear capacity and the ductility of the slab-column connections.

Seismic Behavior of Nonseismically Detailed Reinforced Concrete Beam-Column Joints (비내진 상세를 가진 RC 보-기둥 접합부의 거동)

  • The objective of this study is to clarify the seismic capacity and the characteristics in the hysteretic behavior of RC structures with non-seismic detailing. Interior and exterior beam-column subassemblages were selected from a ten-story RC building and six 1/3-scale specimens were constructed with three variables; (1) with and without slab, (2) with and without hoop bars in the Joint region, (3) upward and downward direction of anchorage for the bottom bar in beams of exterior beam-column subassemblage. The test results have shown; (1) in case of interior beam-column subassemblage, there is no almost difference between nonseismic and seismic details in the strength and ductility capacity; (2) the Korean practice of anchorage (downward and 25 $d_{b}$ anchorage length) in the exterior Joint caused the 10%~20% reduction of strength and 27% reduction of ductility iii comparison with tile case of seismic details; and the existence of hoop bars in the joint region shows no effect in shear strain.n.

  • Recently, interest in OSC(Off Site Construction) is increasing due to the trend of a decrease in skilled workers and an increase in labor costs. In this regard, PC(Precast Concrete) is being reviewed for apartments, the most common type of housing in Korea. As the biggest concern for PC apartment houses, civil complaints such as inter-floor noise and leakage were presented. In this study, the details of the joints were reviewed based on the past cases of PC apartments, and the details of the recently constructed or planned PC apartments were investigated. Through this, the leakage path in the past was analyzed through the existing research literature and data, and a discussion was conducted on the direction for a detailed proposal of an improved joint in the future.
