This paper proposes a control method based on a pseudo-impedance model to control the motion of biped robots walking on an uneven surface. The pseudo-impedance model simulates the action of the ankle of a foot landing on the ground when a human walks. When the foot is in contact with the ground, the human ankle goes through two different phases. In the first phase, the human exerts little or no effort and applies no torque on the ankle so that the orientation of the foot is effortlessly and passively adjusted with respect to the ground. In the second phase of landing, the ankle generates a significant amount of torque in order to rotate and move the main part of the human body forward and to support the weight of the human; this phase is called the weight acceptance phase. Computer simulations of a 12-DOF biped robot with a 6-DOF environment model were performed to determine the effectiveness of the proposed pseudo-impedance control. The simulation results show that stable locomotion can be achieved on an irregular surface by using the proposed model.

The design process of a micro-probe tip is very complicated and expensive. To avoid these problems, in this study, we used element (FE) analysis. To simplify design process. A new pre-probe tip (cobra-needle type) made of Ni and Co was designed by FE analysis. Experimental results were compared with those obtained by FE analysis to verify the reliability of the analysis. The contact force and over drive were respectively found to be 12.5 gf(Contact Force) and $100{\mu}m$(Over drive). We propose the new designed probe tip. Material of new designed probe tip is NiCo. Values of Property are 1~2 gf(Contact Force) and $100{\mu}m$(Over drive).

The surface microcrack over a few tens of micrometers is one of severe problems of a steel wire rod to lead to the failure of the final products, so the method to evaluate crack depth has been required to develop. This work investigates the feasibility of electromagnetic acoustic resonance (EMAR) for this problem. EMAR is the method for measurement of resonant features using electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT). Generally, EMAR is sensitive to small variation of the structures and easy to apply it to the industrial field because of the feature of noncontact measurement. Through several EMAR experiments, the change of the resonant frequencies and attenuation in reverberation has been observed. The results confirms that the surface cracks of around 100 micrometer depth can be detected successfully with the present method.

Synthetic seismograms and deduced characteristic properties of the non-geometrical $S^*$ and $P^*$ waves are presented. These waves are excited on the free surface or an interface between two different media by an inhomogeneous P wave from a point source nearby, and propagate as homogeneous waves in the media. Synthetic seismograms are computed using an extended reflectivity method designed for buried source and receiver. An efficient computational procedure for propagator matrices of layers is devised to reduce the computational time and the RAM memory size in the implementation of the reflectivity method. Radiation patterns are obtained from the particle motions of the four types of the "*" waves, i.e., the $S^*$ wave generated near the free surface, and the reflected $S^*$, transmitted $S^*$ and transmitted $P^*$ waves generated near an interface. Some patterns show polarity changes of displacements and others reveal monotonic or non-monotonic variation of amplitude depending on the velocity structure. The decaying trend of amplitude with increasing epicentral distance are also shown for the head wave type of the "*" waves.
The purpose of this study is to analyze informal learning cases including learning work and being skillful of social workers in the workplace. In addition, it is to examine the promotion plan of informal learning to reinforce competences of social workers in the development of human resources and managemental way. This is a qualitative case study that was involved 20 social workers working in social welfare centers in Jeju. Face to face in-depth interviews were used for collected data. Nvivo10, qualitative data analysis program, was used for analyzing data. According to the findings, the most normal informal learning method in their workplace was to get feedback from the boss including adapting the system of a workplace senior, participating in the meetings, reviewing various media and etc. In addition, feedback from the boss and contacting with acquaintances were used the most as the informal learning method in the learning work and being skillful process of social workers and focused on communication with human resources. Therefore, social welfare centers need to create working environments to promote informal activities such as supporting individual learning, informal meetings, mentoring, supervision, interacting with colleagues and etc as well as supporting institutional formal learning including refresher training to reinforce the capabilities for social workers.
Hydrophilic coating solutions were prepared by reacting a silane coupling agent, GPTMS (3-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane) with colloidal silica. Hydrophilic coating films were also obtained by depositing the hydrophilic coating solutions on polycarbonate substrates by spin-coating and subsequently by thermal curing at $120^{\circ}C$. During this process, the effect of average particle sizes of colloidal silica was studied on the properties of coating films. As a result, coating film, prepared from colloidal silica with average particle size of 25 nm, showed a low contact angle of $20^{\circ}$ and a good pencil hardness of H. On the other hand, coating films, prepared from colloidal silica with average particle sizes of 15 nm and 45 nm, exhibited high contact angles of $27^{\circ}$ and $36^{\circ}$ and pencil hardness of H and B, respectively.
The incompletion of TIR (Total Internal Reflection) in FTIR (Frustrated Total Internal Reflection) touch screen has been investigated as follows. Assuming a 3 layer thin film of medium1 ($n_1$)-medium2 ($n_2$)-medium3 ($n_3$) with refraction indices of $n_1=n_3{\neq}n_2$, it was theoretically proven that FTIR or OT (ordinary transmission) phenomena might happen through medium2 from medium1 to medium3 relying on relative difference in $n_1(=n_3)$ and $n_2$, and that the formulae for FTIR and OT could be transformed into each other depending on the number state (imaginary or real) of the light wave phase. In parallel to the theoretical analysis, the incompletion of TIR in acrylate due to external contacts was also elucidated from the experimental and phenomenological viewpoints. On the basis of this considerate work, we explained how to improve the touching performance for better FTIR touch screen.
The ancient paper document we chose as a case study for our research is "One Hundred Poets of the Tang Dynasty", which is housed in the Ryukoku University Library. The purpose of this research is to introduce a method to analyze the surface roughness and microstructure at a high resolution. In addition, we attempt to quantitatively measure the surface unevenness of the types and curve structure. We used a tridimensional digital microscopy as a non-contact and a non-destructive method to study ancient cultural paper. The information contained in the paper may be lost in the process of applying strong pressure to clean and lining or press. However, this microscopic measurement method can non-destructively analyze a large amount of data in old printed books. Moreover, it enables observing them directly with reflected light. Therefore, this method may be useful for collecting printed information remaining on the surface of the paper.
This study examines whether citizen's satisfaction with police response to their victimization has an effect on the trust in the police. The data (N = 214) were collected from the North Koreans refugees residing in South Korea. One key finding shows that the North Koreans who were dissatisfied with policemen's response to their crime victimization cases report lower trust in the South Korean police. Also, the people who had ever reported a crime to the police increase their trust in the police. However, sex, education experience, car ownership, household victimization preventive measures, crime trends decrease their trust in the police. The implications and limitations were discussed for the future research.
