Cosmeceutical Properties of Extracts of Torreya nucifera and Alpinia henryi and Formulation Characteristics of Mask Pack Containing Extracts of These (비자 및 초두구 추출물의 코스메슈티칼 특성 및 이를 포함한 마스크팩 제형특성)

  • The extracts of antioxidants, torreya nucifera and alphinia henryi, were tested for properties as a fragrance material and applied to a mask pack formulation to study the fragrance properties. The DPPH antioxidant test of hot water and ethanol extract confirmed that the ethanol extract had superior antioxidant efficacy compared to the hot water extract. It was confirmed that the optimal mixing ratio as a raw material for the mask pack of torreya nucifera and alphinia henryi was 3:7 as a result of the DPPH antioxidant test. As a result of the cytotoxicity test, the cell viability was good as it showed 103.30% at 0.5 ug/mL, 104.25% at 1 ug/mL, 102.56% at 5 ug/mL, and 99.17% at 10 ug/mL compared to the untreated group. As a result of the patch test on the mask pack formulation, the skin irritation index of 0.02 was judged as a non-irritation product in the skin irritation primary stimulation human application test. In the evaluation of skin moisturizing, it showed a significant increase rate of 19.178% compared to before the sample adaptation. Evaluation of the change over time in the sheet mask pack formulation confirmed the formulation stability without viscosity and pH change for 12 weeks at low temperature(4℃), room temperature(25℃), and high temperature(45℃).

Study on The Thermochemical Degradation Features of Empty Fruit Bunch on The Function of Pyrolysis Temperature (반응온도에 따른 팜 부산물(empty fruit bunch)의 열화학적 분해 특성에 관한 연구)

  • We performed fast pyrolysis of empty fruit bunch (EFB) in the range of temperature from $400{\sim}550^{\circ}C$ and 1.3 s of residence time. The effect of temperature on the yields and physicochemical properties of pyrolytic products were also studied. Elemental and component analysis of EFB showed that the large amount of potassium (ca. 8400 ppm) presents in the feedstock. Thermogravimetric analysis suggested that the potassium in the feedstock catalyzed degradation of cellulose. The yield of bio-oil increased with increasing temperature in the range of temperature from $400{\sim}500^{\circ}C$, while that of gas and biochar decreased and showed monotonous change each with increasing temperature. When the EFB was pyrolyzed at $550^{\circ}C$, the yield of bio-oil and char decreased while that of gas increased. Water content of the bio-oils obtained at different temperatures was 20~30% and their total acid number were less than 100 mg KOH/g oil. Viscosity of the bio-oils was 11 cSt (centistoke), and heating value varied from 15 to 17 MJ/kg. Using GC/MS analysis, 27 chemical compounds which were classified into two groups (cellulose-derived and lignin-derived) were identified. Remarkably the concentration of phenol was approximately 25% based on entire chemical compounds.

야채를 이용한 soup mix의 제조조건이 야채죽의 물리적 특성 및 관능적 특성에 미치는 영향

  • 야채 soup mix의 제조조건이 야채죽의 물리적 및 관능적 특성에 대한 영향을 조사하였다. Soup mix의 제조조건인 주입액의 양 (쌀 무게에 대한 물의 체적 비), 버섯, 당근 그리고 대파의 첨가량(쌀 무게에 대한 잣의 무게 비)에 따른 물리적 특성과 관능적 특성의 변화를 모니터링 하고자 반응 표면분석법 (response surface methodology, RSM)을 사용하였으며, 이때 실험계획은 중심합성계획법을 적용하였다. 요인변수(Xn)를 중심합성계획에 따라 17실험구로 구분하여 조리실험을 실시하였고, 이들 요인변수에 의해 영향을 받는 반응변수(Yn)는 야채죽의 물리적 특성으로 하여 회귀분석에 사용하였다. 회귀분석에 의한 모델식의 예측에는 SAS (statistical analysis system) program을 사용하였으며, 야채죽의 조리조건이 물리적 및 관능적 특성에 미치는 영향은 SAS program을 이용한 3차원 반응표면분석법으로 해석하였다. 야채의 배합비를 달리한 야채죽의 물리적 특성인 색도 L, a 및 b값에 대한 F-value는 자각 1.50, 11.75 및 5.58이고,유의수준이 각각 0.3044, 0.0019와 0.0169로서 a값과 b값의 유의성이 1% 수준에서 인정되어 이들 제조조건이 a값과 b값에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 점도와 퍼짐성에 대한 유의수준은 각각 0.6920과 0.7528이고, 반응표면회귀식의 $R^2$은 각각 0.4766과 0.4436으로 유의성이 인정되지 않았다. 고형분에 대한 유의수준은 0.2026이고 회귀식의 $R^2$는 0.7107으로서 버섯, 당근 및 대파 첨가량이 고형분의 변화에 영향을 미치지 않은 것을 알 수 있었다. 관능적 특성인 색상에 대하여 soup mix의 제조조건이 야채죽에 미치는 영향은 F-value는 6.23이고, 유의수준이 0.0124으로서 1%수준에서 유의성이 인정되었으며, 회귀식의 $R^2$은 0.8890이다. 향에 대한 유의확률은 0.4555이고 0.05이상이므로 유의성이 인정되지 않아 설정된 범위내에서 야채죽의 향에 대하여 크게 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 점성에 대한 반응표면회귀식의 $R^2$은 0.8134로서 그 유의성이 5%수준에서 인정되었다. 맛과 전반적 기호도에 대하여 야채의 배합비에 따른 반응표면회귀식의 $R^2$은 각각 0.7374와 0.8651이며, 유의화률은 0.1578과 0.0228으로 나타나 전반적인 기호도에 대한 영향은 10% 유의수준에서 영향을 주었다. 결론적으로, 물리적 특성인 색도, 점성, 퍼짐성과 고형분의 함량은 관능적 특성인 색과 비교적 높은 정(正)의 상관을 나타내었으며, 관능적 특성인 향과의 상관은 유의성이 인정되지 않았다. 야채죽 제조를 위한 soup mix의 제조조건에 있어서 야채의 배합비는 색과 점성에 영향을 미치는 가장 주요한 조건이라고 생각된다.

Synthesis and characterization of hydrophobic and hydrophilic cellulose derivative by esterification (친수성과 소수성을 동시에 가지는 아세틸화 셀룰로스 에테르의 합성 및 특성 평가)

  • Acetylated Cellulose Ether (ACE), cellulose-based amphiphilic polymer with hydrophilic and hydrophobic, was synthesized and investigated in terms of its solubility and wettability for organic solvents and water. Acetyl group was substituted to the cellulose ether in a hydrophilic polymer by esterification. As a result of FT-IR, the peak corresponding to the hydroxyl group decreased and carboxyl acid peak increased with increasing reaction time and temperature, which signified the increase in the degree of acetylation of the ACE. There were similar thermal decomposition behaviors before and after esterification reaction until $800^{\circ}C$ so that the reaction occurred without significant structural changes of cellulose backbones. The solubility parameter of the ACE had a range of 18.5~26.4, and its viscosity and turbidity were controlled according to the solubility parameter of organic solvents. The ACE showed the hydrophilicity because the contact angle of the ACE was higher than the cellulose ether. These results confirmed that the ACE had the hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity due to the ether which was glucosidic bonding between the glucose units and un-reacted hydroxyl functional groups in the ACE.

Preparation and properties of water-based magnetic fluid with synthesized magnetite (합성마그네타이트를 이용한 수상자성유체의 제조 및 특성)

  • The water-based magnetic fluids were prepared with the synthesized ultra-fine magnetite, oleic acid and SDBS (sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate) as surfactants. The dispersion of water-based magnetic fluids was about 90 % when the added amounts of oleic acid and SDBS for magnetite(27 g) were more than $2.66{\times}10^{-3}$ mol and 10 g respectively. As the solid content increased from o. 05 g/cc to 0.4 g/cc, saturation magnetization of magnetic fluids at 5 kOe increased from 1.98 emu/g to 9.63 emu/g at $Fe^{2+}/Fe^{3+}=0.5$ and from 2.7 emu/g to 14.63 emu/g at $Fe^{2+}/Fe^{3+}=1.0$, and the its viscosity increased from 1.3 cp to 4.4 cp at $Fe^{2+}/Fe^{3+}=0.5$. pH region of oleic acid and SDBS stabilized water-based mag¬netic fluids was stable was in the range of pH 3.0 to pH 11.0. Stability of Water-based magnetic fluids can be obtained by observation of magnetic memory patterns on the VCR tape.

  • To investigate and analyze the vegetational structure, thirty sites were sampled with clumped sampling method and seventeen belt transects were sampled to analyze the vegetational change during 8 years(from 1978 to 1986)at the Namsan Nature Park in Seoul. Robinia pseudoacacia community of actual vegetation covered 29.39%, Quercus mongolica community 21.25% and Pinus densiflora community 17.58% of the Mt. Namsan forest. The degree of human disturbance of vegetation of 8, 7 and 6 area covered 43.2%, 7.8% and 30.8% respectively. The Quercus mongolica community at the northern slope and R. pseudoacacia community at the edge zone will keep their present structure. And P. densiflora community at the eastern and southern slope shall be succeeded to deciduous trees such as Q. mongolica. As to changes of plant community structure during 8 years, density of understory species, species diversity and Raunkiaer's frequency class A and E showed an increase and vegetation structure was developed to unification.

Optimum Conditions to Esterify Alginic Acid (알긴산의 적정 에스테르화 조건)

  • Esterifying conditions to produce propylene glycol alginate (PGA) with alginic acid and propylene oxide were determined, and physico-chemical properties of the PGA were also determined. The rate of esterification increased with the content of propylene oxide up to 4 mole. Alginic acid containing $30\%$ of water shelved maximum esterification, however, it was dificult to remove the surplus moisture in the alginic acid when it cotained the moisture above $70\%$. Maximum esterification was taken place when alginic acid with $44.15\%$ water was reacted with 4mole of propylene oxide at $70^{\circ}C$. The rate of esterification of alginic acid with $50.05\%$ of water increased up to 1 hour at $70^{\circ}C$, followed by no significant increase with reaction time. No significant decrease in the viscosity of $2-3\%$ PGA solution occurred, up to pH 3.0. Pseudoplastic characteristics were kept in case of $1\%,\;2\%\;3\%$ and $5\%$ of PGA solution in the pH of 1.0-5.0.

Community Fluctuation of the Benthic Macroinvertebrates before and after the Construction of Nakdan Weir (낙동강 본류 낙단보 설치 전후의 저서성 대형무척추동물 군집변동)

  • Nakdan weir, which is located in the second weir among the 8 weirs of Nakdong River, had been constructed from Nov. 2009 to Nov. 2011. To analyze the effect of Nakdan weir construction on benthic macroinvertebrates, we studied 2 sites around Nakdan weir (upstream and downstream) from 2007 to 2014. The average numbers of species and individuals were decreased after the construction (in 2012~2014, 51 species $895inds.\;m^{-2}$) than before construction (in 2007~2009, 25 species $84inds.\;m^{-2}$), especially in upstream site of Nakdan weir. After the construction, especially in 2012, dominance indices (DI) were increased by the decline of some specific taxon population, such as Ephemeroptera and Trichoptera, etc. After construction, individual ratios of GC (Gathering Collectors) and P (Predator) of FFGs (Functional feeding groups) and BU (Burrowers) of HOGs (Habitat orientation groups) were higher than before construction. So the results of this study indicate that the changes by a weir construction, such as the decline of shallow depth area, reduced velocity of water flow and increased ratio of sand bed, etc., can affect the benthic macroinvertebrate communities variously.

Physicochemical Properties of Hydroxypropylated Waxy Rice Starches and its Application to Yukwa (하이드록시프로필화 찹쌀 전분의 이화학적 성질 및 유과제조 특성)

  • Physicochemical properties of hydroxypropylated waxy rice starches were investigated to reduce steeping-time of yukwa (Korean oil-puffed rice snack) processing. Swelling power of hydroxypropylated waxy rice starch increased at relatively higher temperature $(60^{\circ}C)$ than native waxy rice starch $(70^{\circ}C)$. Solubility of hydroxypropylated waxy rice starches increased with increasing propylene oxide content. Pasting temperature $(66.3-66.9^{\circ}C)$ and peak viscosity (216-232 RVU) of hydroxypropylated waxy rice starch were higher than those of native starch (179 RVU) and increased with increasing propylene oxide content. DSC thermal transitions of hydroxypropylated waxy rice starches shifted toward higher temperature. Amylopectin melting enthalpy of hydroxypropylated waxy rice starch (8.4-9.2 J/g) was similar to native starch (9.0 J/g). X-ray diffraction patterns of native and hydroxypropylated waxy rice starches showed typical A-type pattern with no significant differences between them, suggesting hydroxypropylation only affected amorphous region. Results suggest hydroxypropylated waxy rice starch is not applicable for yukwa due to low puffing efficiency and dark color.

Species Composition and Biology of Major Species of Gobiid Fish in Cheonsu Bay of the Yellow Sea, Korea (한수만(漢水灣) 망둑어과(Family Gobiidae) 어류(魚類)의 계절(季節)에 따른 종조성(種組成) 변화(變化)와 우점종(優點種)의 생태(生態))

  • Gobiid fish were collected monthly in Cheonsu Bay by a beach seine from the shallow water and by an otter trawl from the deep water from September, 1984 to August, 1986. Seasonal variation in species composition and biology of the major species were examined with the data of length and age composition. Fourteen speices of gobies were identified. Gobiid fish were more abundant in the shallow water than in the deep water. In the shallow water, they constituted 66% and 39% of the fish collected in the mud flat and the sand beach, respectively. The suction discs of the gobies explains that they inhabit successfully in the surf zone where the wave action is strong. Of the major species, Chaenogobius mororanus predominated in the shallow mud flat. A large number of adults of this species were obtained in Spring and their juveniles were collected from Summer through Autumn. Favonigobius gymnauchen was abundant in the shallow water, especially in the sand beach. This fish seemed to spawn from May through June, about two months later than Chaenogobius mororanus. Acanthogobius hasta juveniles lived in the shallow water and moved into the deep water as the fish grew. Chaturichthys stigmatias was collected mainly in the deep zone.
