Cereals and legumes were ground, blended and extruded with a twin-screw extruder to form a reconstituted grain. The basic formula was as follows: brown rice 30%, barley 30%, wheat 20%, millet 5%, sorghum 5%, soybean 7%, and red bean 3%. Extrusion conditions were properly set for feed moisture content of $24{\sim}30%$, barrel temperature of $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$, and screw speed at 250 rpm. The extruded grain was air-dried and evaluated for quality characteristics, compared with milled rice. Size and shape of the reconstituted grain were similar to short-grain milled rice. Stacking volume of the reconstituted grain was a little higher than that of milled rice, and its water absorption was more rapid. From the texture measurements, hardness of cooked reconstituted grain was slightly lower and adhesiveness was appeared to be higher.

In this study, the drying characteristics of medicinal (Ganoderma lucidum, Phellinus linteus) and edible (Pleurotus eryngii, Lentinus edodes) mushrooms were investigated. Their shrinkage ratios, Hunter's color values, and rehydration ratios were evaluated. Mushrooms were cut with rectangular (1 cm) and square ($1{\times}1cm$) shapes, and dried in the room temperature and at $50^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$ using hot-air dryer. Initial moisture contents of edible mushrooms were higher than those of medicinal mushrooms, whereas final moisture contents were vice versa. Drying rate was the highest when drying at $70^{\circ}C$ (p<0.05). Moreover the drying rate of square slices was higher than that of rectangular slices (p<0.05). The shrinkage ratios of both medicinal mushrooms and edible mushrooms were the least when drying at $50^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$, respectively (p<0.05). The changes of color values were less in the medicinal mushrooms dried in the room temperature than in the hot-air dried medicinal mushrooms (p<0.05). However, in case of edible mushrooms, the changes of color values were less in the hot-air dried mushrooms (p<0.05). Rehydration ratios of medicinal mushrooms dried at $50^{\circ}C$ was the highest (p<0.05). In contrast, rehydration ratios of edible mushrooms was the highest when drying in the room temperature (p<0.05). Thus, the hot-air drying at $50^{\circ}C$ would be suggested as the efficient drying method for both medicinal mushrooms and edible mushrooms.
The study was carried out on the artificial cultivation of the abalone mushroom, Pleurotus cystidiosus O.K.Miller. The pine sawdust substrates with 20% rise bran were good for mycelial growth and high quantity of P. cystidiosus in the bottle cultivation. Moreover, the proper volume for bottle cultivation was 850 ml and the removal of spawn and surface layer of the medium before pin-heading was more efficient. The yields of P. cystidiosus were higher in sawdust substrates added calcium carbonate than those not added calcium carbonate. The volume of 3 kg polypropylene bag is good for yield and biological efficiency in bag cultivation of P. cystidiosus. Cotton wastes were proper substrates for bag cultivation. In the effect of different cultivation temperature, $28{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ cultivation temperature was good for for primordial formation after inoculation.

Internal factors having effects on compressive strength test results of concrete include size, shape, height-diameter ratio(h/d), section processing method, dryness and wetness, etc. of the specimen. As it is difficult to ensure dimensions of core specimen due to rebar cutting from rebar spacing, wall thickness, effects on the structure, etc. when taking core of the concrete structure, correction of dimensions and h/d of the specimen become important for quality control of the concrete. Thus, in order to review effects of specimen size and height-diameter ratio for the concretes with compressive strength within 40~60MPa, this study has experimentally reviewed compressive strength test values by applying correction factors pursuant to KS F 2422 (Method of obtaining and testing drilled cores and sawed beams of concrete), when changing specimen diameter to ${\emptyset}5{\sim}15cm$, and h/d to 2.0~1.25.
The consumption patterns of the minimally processed fruits and vegetables were surveyed in this present study. Eighty four women who were resident in either Seoul and Kyongki-do in Korea were participants in this study as respondents to our various questionnaire. The result are summarized as follows; The respondents had a preference for a supermarket (46.4%) as the place of purchase (or fruits and vegetables and the frequency of purchase was two or three times per week. The residents of apartment preferred department stores and supermarkets to stalls in the immediate residential area (p<.05). Fifty percents of the unmarried women respondents indicated that they only purchased once a week. Approximately 70% of the respondents rated quality considerations over the price and quantity when they choose their fruits and vegetables. This behavioral tendency was stronger for the residents of the apartment and amongst the more highly educated women. The type of fruits and vegetables purchased were mainly unprocessed. However, minimally processed products appeared to be popular especially among unmarried or married who did not have children, were highly educated and aged between 20 and 30. These observations are supported by data in which 82% of respondents whose ages were ranged between 20 and 30, with high educational backgrounds and who had experienced in the purchase of minimally processed fruits and vegetables. The motivation for purchasing minimally processed fruits and vegetables generally resulted from a consideration of the saving in cooking time, the ease of handling and the desire to serve appropriate portions. On the other hand, the reasons for not purchasing minimally processed fruits and vegetables were the comparatively high price, a perception of unsanitary handling and pack size that were considered too small. Ninety-three percent of the respondents exhibited a positive response to the need for minimally processed fruits and vegetables. Freshness was considered to be the most important factor when purchasing these products. The preferred price for the minimally processed fruits and vegetables was approximately $110{\sim}120%$ of that for the unprocessed products.
This research was conducted to determine the effect of interruption layer for capillary rise on the sand based growing media when growing Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) on soil reclamation and saline water irrigation. Growing media profile consists of three layers as top soil of 30 cm, 20 cm of the interruption layer for capillary rise and 10 cm of reclaimed paddy soil. Growing media profile was packed in 30 cm diameter column pots. The top soil was a mixture of sand dredged up from Lake Bhunam Tae Ahn, Korea and peat at the ratio of 95:5 by volume. Bottom part of column was covered with plastic net and the pots were soaked into 5 cm depth saline water reservoir with salinity $3-5\;dS\;m^{-1}$. Kentucky bluegrass was established by sod and irrigated using $2\;dS\;m^{-1}$ saline water ($5.7\;mm\;day^{-1}$) in 3 days interval. The results showed that the largest accumulation of salt in the spring with electrical conductivity in saturated extract (ECe) of $5.4\;dS\;m^{-1}$ and sodium absorption ratio (SAR) 34.0 in growing media without the interruption layer for capillary rise and ECe of $4.6\;dS\;m^{-1}$ and SAR 8.24 at growing media using gravel as the interruption layer for capillary rise material. The interruption layer for capillary rise of gravel and coarse sand reduced the accumulation of Na by 16% and 25%, ECe by 7% and 13% in the growing media. Visual quality of Kentucky bluegrass was higher in growing media with the interruption layer for capillary rise of gravel than no interruption layer by 8.3 compared to 7.9 in rates. The interruption layer for capillary rise of gravel and coarse sand enhanced the visual quality by 4.1 and 4.0%, root length by 50 and 38%, and root dry weight by 35 and 17% of Kentucky bluegrass, and reduced the accumulation of Na by 16% and 25%, ECe by 7% and 13% in the growing media.

In general, the fabrications of the LEDs with mesa structure are performed grown by MOCVD method. In order to etch and separate each chips, the LEDs are passed the RIE and scribing processes. The RIE process using plasma dry etching occur some problems such as defects, dislocations and the formation of dangling bond in surface result in decline of device characteristic. The SAG method has attracted considerable interest for the growth of high quality GaN epi layer on the sapphire substrate. In this paper, the SAG method was introduced for simplification and fabrication of the high quality epi layer. And we report that the size of selective area do not affect the characteristics of original LED. The diameter of SAG circle patterns were choose as 2500, 1000, 350, and 200 ${\mu}m$. The SAG-LEDs were measured to obtain the device characteristics using by SEM, EL and I-V. The main emission peaks of 2500, 1000, 350, and 200 ${\mu}m$ were 485, 480, 450, and 445 nm respectively. The chips of 350, 200 ${\mu}m$ diameter were observed non-uniform surface and resistance was higher than original LED, however, the chips of 2500, 1000 ${\mu}m$ diameter had uniform surface and current-voltage characteristics were better than small sizes. Therefore, we suggest that the suitable diameter which do not affect the characteristic of original LED is more than 1000 ${\mu}m$.

These studies were identified the effect of four types of non-perforated breathable (NPB) packing film and three sizes on storage ability of fresh-cut for ready to eat packaging at $5^{\circ}C$ for 25 days and $10^{\circ}C$ for 15 days storage in Salicornia herbacea. The fresh weight loss was less than 2% in every films at $5^{\circ}C$ condition after 25 days storage, and the $10^{\circ}C$ also had same result on 15 days storage except 100,000 cc NPB film. Compare with storage after 15 days, storage condition at $5^{\circ}C$ had shown better result under the 1% fresh weight loss rate. The 5,000 cc and $5^{\circ}C$ condition had been shown the characteristics of MA packaging in carbon dioxide and oxygen concentrations. The ethylene concentration in vacuum film was higher 10 to 100 times than in NPB film treatments during storage. But ethylene concentration was not statistically significant differences among size treatments. Every conditions had been measured the anti-oxidant activity by DPPH method after storage at $5^{\circ}C$ for 25 days and $10^{\circ}C$ for 15 days. S. herbacea at $5^{\circ}C$ had been more than twice of activity compare with that at $10^{\circ}C$. 100,000 cc NPB film had been higher contents of anti-oxidant activity at $5^{\circ}C$ and $10^{\circ}C$. As the fresh-cut sizes, 3 cm and 5 cm sizes had changed depending on film types but 10 cm were not effected by the film types in the DPPH activity. When panel test had been tried to measure the visual quality and off-flavor after storage, $5^{\circ}C$ with a filme of 5,000 cc treatment had established higher value than other treated conditions. As these results, it's may be suggested that the $5^{\circ}C$ with 5,000 cc non-perforated breathable film for MA storage in Salicornia herbacea at fresh cut distribution system. Fresh cut size 10 cm with 100,000 cc NPB film also had the good quality for 15 dyas storage at $10^{\circ}C$, and this result can be applied for short term distribution system in Korea.

The consumption of poultry meat (chicken and turkey) grew the most during the past few decades due to several contributing factors such as low price. product research and development. favorable meat characteristics, responsive to consumer needs, vertical integration and industry consolidation, new processing equipments and technology, and aggressive marketing. The major processing technologies developed and used in chicken processing include forming/restructuring, tumbling, curing, smoking, massaging, injection, marination, emulsifying, breading, battering, shredding, dicing, and individual quick freezing. These processing technologies were applied to various parts of chicken including whole carcass. Product developments using breast, thigh, and mechanically separated chicken meat greatly increased the utilization of poultry meat. Chicken breast became the symbol of healthy food, which made chicken meat as the most frequent menu items in restaurants. However, the use of and product development for dark meat, which includes thigh, drum, and chicken wings were rather limited due to comparatively high fat content in dark meat. Majority of chicken are currently sold as further processed ready-to-cook or ready-to-eat forms. Major quality issues in chicken meat include pink color problems in uncured cooked breast, lipid oxidation and off-flavor, tenderness PSE breast, and food safety. Research and development to ensure the safety and quality of raw and cooked chicken meat using new processing technologies will be the major issues in the future as they are now. Especially, the application of irradiation in raw and cooked chicken meat products will be increased dramatically within next 5 years. The market share of ready-to-eat cooked meat products will be increased. More portion controlled finished products, dark meat products, and organic and ethnic products with various packaging approaches will also be introduced.

This research was conducted to determine the effect of capillary rise interruption layer on the sand based growing media when growing Kentucky bluegrass under soil reclamation and saline water irrigation. Rootzone profile consists of three layers as top soil of 30 cm, 20 cm of capillary interruption layer and 10 cm of reclaimed paddy soil. Rootzone profile was packed in column pots. The top soil was a mixture of sand dredged up from Lake Bhunam Tae Ahn, Korea and peat at the ratio of 95:5 by volume. Bottom part of column was covered with plastic net and the pots were soaked into 5 cm depth saline water reservoir with salinity $3-5dsm^{-1}$. Kentucky bluegrass was installed by sod and irrigated using $2dSm^{-1}$ saline water(5.7mm $day^{-1}$)in 3days interval. The results showed that the largest accumulation of salt in the spring with ECe of $5.4dSm^{-1}$ and SAR34.0 in rootzone with out capillary rise interruption layer and ECe of $4.6dSm^{-1}$ and SAR8.24 at rootzone using gravel as capillary rise interruption layer material. Kentucky bluegrass grown in growing media with gravel as capillary rise interruption layer resulted in the average visual quality rate of 8.1and clipping dry weight of $24.8gm^{-2}$, while Kentucky bluegrass grown in the growing media with out capillary rise interruption layer showed the visual quality rate of 7.9 and clipping dry weight of $34g.m^{-2}$. Capillary rise interruption layer of gravel and coarses and enhanced the visual quality by 4.1and 4.0%, root length by 50 and 38%, and root dryweight by 35and 17% of Kentucky bluegrass, and reduced the accumulation of Na by 16% and 25%, ECe by 7% and 13% in the rootzone.
