Functional Verification of Pin-puller-type Holding and Release Mechanism Based on Nylon Wire Cutting Release Method for CubeSat Applications (나일론선 절단 방식에 기반한 Pin-puller형 큐브위성용 태양전지판 구속분리장치의 기능검증)

  • In general, a non-explosive nylon wire cutting-based holding and release mechanism has been used to store and deploy deployable solar panels of CubeSat. However, with this method, accessing the solar panel's access port for charging the cube satellite's battery and electrical inspection and testing of the PCB and payloads while the solar panel is in storage is difficult. Additionally, the mechanism must have a reliable release function in an in-orbit environment, and reusability for stow and deploy of the solar panel, which is a hassle for the operator and difficult to maintain a consistent nylon wire fastening process. In this study, we proposed a pin-puller-based solar panel holding and release mechanism that can easily deploy a solar panel without cutting nylon wires by separating constraining pins. The proposed mechanism's release function and performance were verified through a solar panel deployment test and a maximum separation load measurement test. Through this, we also verified the design feasibility and effectiveness of the pin-puller-based separation device.

  • The purpose of this study is to optical cable closure and fiber line monitoring system. The current optical cable closure cases have not had any systems that help the central control station recognize opening as well as closing the cases in real-time when opening B2B and B2C lines. to solve this problem, it is considered to create systems that go off alarms, real-time fault location immediately, set alarms for open and close monitoring optical cable closure, and inspect regularly whether optical cables are deficient when monitoring the optical line in real-time and cutting them, in this paper, the monitoring system whose the central control station finds an optical signal block immediately and goes off the alarms when line workers separate components like a connector or a tray from the optical cable closure through OTDR. this study can contribute to stabilize the network quality through the quick and effective operation of the cables.

  • Medical waste management is becoming increasingly important, specifically in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, as hospitals, clinics, quarantine centers, and medical research institutes are generating tons of medical waste every day. Previously, a traditional incineration process was utilized for managing medical waste, but the lack of landfill sites, and accompanying environmental concerns endanger public health. Consequently, an innovative sterilization shredding system was developed to resolve this problem. In this research, we focused on the design and numerical analysis of a shredding system for hazardous and infectious medical waste, to establish its operational performance. The shredding machine's components were modeled in a CAD application, and finite element analysis (FEA) was conducted using ABAQUS software. Static, fatigue, and dynamic loading conditions were used to analyze the structural stability of the cutting blade. The blade geometry proved to be effective based on the cutting force applied to shred medical waste. The dynamic stability of the structure was verified using modal analysis. Furthermore, an S-N curve was generated using a high cycle fatigue study, to predict the expected life of the cutting blade. Resultantly, an appropriate shredder system was devised to link with a sterilization unit, which could be beneficial in reducing the volume of medical waste and disposal time, thereof, thus eliminating environmental issues, and potential health hazards.

  • This paper proposes a non-explosive separation device for the deployable SAR antenna. This device utilises a Ni-Cr wire to restrain the antenna's belt mechanism, and joule-heating is used to minimise the impact of deployment. After the Ni-Cr wire has been cut, the device is deployed through the preload of the belt mechanism. Considering the design load(99g) and preload conditions, FEM analysis for AL7050 and Ti was performed. This analysis revealed that the amount of deformation for AL7050 was 0.256 mm with a margin of +0.09. In addition, by performing orbital thermal analysis, the temperature distribution for AL7050 in the worst cold case is confirmed as -50 to +2℃ and -10 to +90℃ in the worst hot case. This analysis confirmed that the separation device would remain stable even in the worst environment.

  • 과학기술의 발전에 따라 연구소 및 산업체에서 양산되는 다양한 유형의 설계도면을 효율적이고 체계적으로 관리하기 위한 도면 데이터베이스를 구축하여 이를 검색 및 전환시키는 시스템이 요구된다. 최근에는 도면설계도구 시스템활용도의 증대로 더욱 능률적인 도면작성 및 관리가 가능하게 되었으나, 현재까지 개발된 도면인식 시스템의 대부분은 단순한 저장 및 복원의 기능, 즉 , 시스템에 자동 입력만이 가능하게 되어있다. 본 논문은 도면설계자동화에 따른 강판절단 과정에 필요한 도면과 도면정보를 데이터베이스로 구축하고 정보시스템을 구현하여 도면을 효율적으로 관리하고, 검색함으로써 기존의 설계방식에 비해 경제성과 생산성 측면에서 보다 효율적이고 사용자의 편리성에 유리하며, 또한 수정도 용이하게 수행할 수 있다. 이러한 필요성에 기반으로 두고 강판제작에 따른 도면 정보를 위한 미디어 데이터형식을 설계하였고, 사용자 인터페이스를 위한 질의 환경을 설계하였으며, 도면 관리시스템을 이용하여 실제 구현되는 과정을 수행하였다.

Effect of Soft Handoff Area on the Blocking Rate of DS-CDMA System (소프트 핸드오프 영역이 DS-CDMA 시스템의 블록킹 확률에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • DS-CDMA 이동통신 시스템에서 소프트 핸드오프는 간섭을 감소시켜, 역방향 링크 용량을 증대시키고 통화 절단율을 감소시켜 시스템 성능을 향상시킨다. 반면에 무선 채널 자원 측면에서는 공간 다이버시티를 위해 다수 개의 무선자원을 사용하기 때문에 시스템 성능을 저하시킬 수도 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 무선자원 활용 측면에서 DS-CDMA 이동통신 시스템의 소프트 핸드오프에 대한 성능을 분석하였다. 분석 결과에서 무선 채널 자원이 한정된 경우에 소프트 핸드오프 영역이 증가하면 소프트 핸드오프 빈도와 평균 채널 점유시간이 증가하여 채널 블록킹율을 상당하게 증가시키는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 핸드오프 영역이 증가되기 전과 동일한 블록킹율을 유지시키기 위해서는 증가되는 영역에 비례하여 추가적인 무선 채널 자원이 제공되어야 한다.

  • 조선업종은 숙련공의 감소와 노동력 부족을 해결하기 위해 자동화와 기계화가 필요하다. 특히 조선용 핸드레일 제조공정은 표준화된 타 분야와 달리 자동화가 낙후되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 조선용 핸드레일 제작에 사용할 수 있는 평철 가공자동화시스템을 설계하였다. 시스템의 기구부는 절단공정의 효율성, 생산성, 안정성 등을 고려하여 설계하였고, CATIA 와 ANSYS를 사용하여 구조물의 안정성을 확인하였다. 시스템 제어부는 개방성과 확장성을 제공하는 PCNC 콘트롤러를 사용하였고, 터치스크린 방식의 화면 조작을 통해 시스템의 제어 및 모니터링을 할 수 있도록 구축하였다.

The Call Control Scheme for Multiple Cells CDMA System Under Non-Uniform Traffic Distribution (비균일 부하를 가진 다중 셀 CDMA시스템에서의 호 제어 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose the call control scheme that can improve the capacity of the wireless system for the non-uniform traffic load distribution and the multiple types of services in multiple cells CDMA system. The number of mobile stations that can be served simultaneously in a base station is limited by the amount of total interference received in CDMA system. Further, the average number of mobile stations in each cell may not be uniformly distributed. Considering this factors, the call admission control scheme using the effective bandwidth concept is adapted in this paper. Thus, the bandwidth for a new call can be varied dynamically for reducing the blocking rate of new calls and the dropping rate of handoff calls. The suggested call control scheme is experimented through a simulation by dynamically assigning the bandwidth to new and handoff calls. The simulation results show that the proposed call control scheme can accommodate more mobile stations than the other methods in multiple cells environment.

  • In this paper, a novel method for obtaining spectra of short pulses is proposed. This method will be well-applied to perform spectral analyses of ultrashort laser pulses which are known to be difficult to evaluate their exact forms in frequency domain because of their narrow-width characteristics in time domain. It must be noted that the method can be represented by a recursive formula derived from the PRS(partial-response signaling) model, and thus more easily available for numerical solutions than the conventional methods such as consecutive differentiations and convolutions. The pulses whose fundamental frames can be exactly determined or approximately represented by truncated Fourier series have well-behaving conditions for applications of this new method. Moreover, the transversal 9-type PRS model can offer various approximations for spectral analyses of ultrashort pulses currently used in transmission systems.

  • Nylon wire cutting method by nichrome wire is generally applicable for cube satellite applications due to its advantages of simplicity. However, the system complexity is not avoidable to apply it on the cube satellite with multi-deployable structures. A lower constraint force of the mechanism is also one of the disadvantages of the mechanism. In this study, we proposed a preliminary structure design of cube satellite with the separation mechanism which is applicable for holding and release of the multi-deployable structures. The effectiveness of the mechanism design was verified through function test of EM mechanism. The structure analysis results showed that the structure design proposed in this study is feasible.
