Representation of Serially Sectioned Images of Entire Human Body by Improvement of Notch Filter (놋치 필터 개선을 통한 인체 연속절단 영상 재현)

  • Recently various anatomic researches by using serially sectioned images in VK(Visible Korean) project are in progress. In that sense, it is very important and necessary to represent images which keep information of the original anatomic images. In this regard, there are some studies to get rid of slice patterns in coronal and sagittal images. However, according to the rapid spatial frequency changes, the ringing effect occurred in common. In addition, because of merge with the original images which have splice patterns, those patterns appeared again. Therefore, in this study we found effective color space to apply to FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) and notch filter in getting rid of the slice patterns. To verify this, we used RGB, LAB, CMYK, HSV and HSL color space. Secondly we got rid of and alleviated the ringing effect by improving notch filter. To verify this, we compared proposed method with previous study on the basis of original images by visual method and objective values. These result images are expected to contribute to anatomy research in relation to VK project.

  • There are some studies to get rid of slice patterns in coronal and sagittal images by FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) and Notch filter. However, the use of a notch filter is the ringing effect according to the rapid frequency change occurs in common. Therefore, this study will be to evaluate the shape and effect of the notch filter. In addition, it is proposed a new notch filter design. Results of the study are as follows. First, Emission-Notch filter was relatively naturally correcting the cutting pattern. Second, Emission-Notch filter to use as Ringing effect is reduced relatively. The next through these findings and further research progress more completely removed the Ringing effect, and expects to reproduce the data close to the actual human body information.

  • 제품의 소재를 미리 테입 형태로 만들어 단면의 경계면을 따라 레이저로 절단하여 적층하는 방식은 제품의 표면에 계단 모양의 무늬가 생기므로 정밀한 제품을 제작하는데 어려움이 있었다. 이를 극복하기 위하여 단면의 경계선을 절단할 때 수직으로 절단하는 것이 아니라 경사면을 따라 절단하여 전체적인 제품의 옆면이 부드럽게 연결되는 경사절단형 임의형상가공시스템을 개발하였다. 이를 위하여 레이저 5축 경사절단기를 개발하였는데, x축과 y축은 상용화되어 있는 x-y table을 이용하였고 z축은 한 개의 z축 이송대를 이용하였다. 롤과 피치를 위하여는 서보모터 두 개를 이용하여 작업대가 회전할 수 있도록 하였다. 이와 같은 레이저 5축 경사절단기를 개발함으로써 시편의 어느 위치에서든 어느 각도로도 절단이 가능하게 할 수 있었다.

  • The objective of this research work is to investigate the effects of process parameters, such as power of laser, travel speed of laser and material thickness, on kerfwidth and characteristics of the cut surface for the case of cutting of CSP 1N sheet using high power continuous wave Nd:YAG laser. In order to find relationship between the process parameters on the quality of the cut section, such as kerfwidth, surface roughness and the striation formation, several laser cutting experiments are carried out. From the results of experiments, an optimal cutting speed for each cutting condition has been obtained to improve the quality of the cut surface.

  • The objective of this research work is to investigate the influence of process parameters, such as power of laser, travel speed of laser and material thickness, on roughness and striation of the cut surface for the case of cutting of CSP 1N sheet using high power Nd:YAG laser with continuous wave(CW). In order to find the practical cutting region and the relationship between process parameters on the roughness and the striation, several laser cutting experiments are carried out. From the results of experiments, the allowable cutting region and an optimal cutting speed for each cutting condition have been obtained to improve the quality of the cut surface. In addition, it has been shown that the surface roughness is related to the number of striation and depth of valley of the cut surface.

Effects of Traverse Speed on Dimensional Error in Abrasive Water-Jet (입자 워터 젯의 이송속도가 공작물의 치수정밀도에 미치는 영향)

  • Abrasive water-jet(AWJ) machining can cut various materials such as metal, glass and plastics. However, the AWJ machining has some troubles including kerf, rounding and side taper. In this study, we experimently investigated the correlation between the traverse speed of the abrasive water-jet and the dimensional error of the workpiece according to the thickness and the types of the material. The specimen was the stainless steel and the mild steel and the predetermined contour cutting was conducted. A comer radius error, an uncut width and a kerf were measured and evaluated.

  • Abrasive water-jet(AWJ) machining is a new cutting technology. The AWJ can cut various materials such as metal, glass and stone. However, the AWJ machining makes troubles including kerf, rounding and side taper. In this study, we investigated the correlation between parameters of abrasive water-jet machining and cutting characteristics. The machining parameters were the material thickness and the traverse speed. The experiment was conducted to cut the stainless steel(STS41) and the mild steel(SS41) specimens. The results of the experiment were presented as the relation between cutting conditions and troubles of a dimension error, a conner error, an uncut width and a kerf.

Effect of BA and Physical Treatment on Axillary Bud Emergence of Hosta spp. (옥잠화(Hosta)속 식물의 액아 발생에 미치는 BA 및 물리적 처리의 효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of BA, a growth regulator on enhancing propagation efficiency, and physical treatment on promotion of axillary bud generation in three hosta cultivars, 'Ellerbroek', 'Francee', and 'Halcyon'. These are cultivars suitable for cut foliage production among Hosta spp. because of their diverse leaf patterns and long vase life of cut foliage. The degree of axillary bud generation by treatment time and concentration of BA has not been proven to be extraordinarily effective as compared to not treated control. As a physical treatment, base wounding was more effective than stem cutting. In 'Ellerbroek', increase of axillary bud generation among treatment methods was not great. However, in 'Halcyon', base wounding had four more axillary buds per plant than not treated control. In addition, although number of axillary buds increased per plant by BA treatment and stem cutting was 2 and 1.8, respectively, it was 6.1 by base wounding, indicating the greatest effect on promotion of axillary bud generation among all treatments.

  • Statement of problem: There are common clinical cases in which the mandibular first and second molars are missing unilaterally. Purpose: This study was designed to compare and evaluate the magnitude and distribution of stress produced by four kinds of mandibular unilateral free-end removable partial dentures that could be applied clinically in Kennedy class II cases. Material and methods: Four unilateral free-end removable partial dentures using clasp, Konus crown, resilient attachment, and flexible resin were fabricated on the photoelastic models of the Kennedy class II cases. The vertical load of 6㎏ was applied on the central fossa of the first molar of every removable partial denture in the stress freezing furnace and the photoelastic models were frozen according to the stress freezing cycle. After these models were sliced mesio-distally to a thickness of 6mm, the photoelastic isochromatic white and black lines of the sliced specimens were examined with the transparent photoelastic experiment device and photographs were taken with a digital camera. The fringe order numbers at eight measuring points in the photograph were measured with the naked eye. Results: The maximum fringe order number of each sliced specimen and the fringe order number at the residual ridge just below the loading point were in the decreasing order of the unilateral removable partial dentures using flexible resin followed by clasp, resilient attachment, and Konus crown. The fringe order number at the root apex of the second premolar was in the decreasing order of the unilateral removable partial dentures using clasp followed by flexible resin, Konus crown, and resilient attachment. Conclusion: The removable partial denture using Konus crown showed the most equalized stress distribution to the supporting alveolar bone of abutment teeth and residual ridge under the vertical loads. The removable partial denture using flexible resin can be applied to the case that has a better state of residual ridge than abutment teeth.

A New Species of Koreocobitis from Korea with a Redescription of K. rotundicaudata (새코미꾸리속 Koreocobitis 어류의 1 신종 및 새코미꾸리 K. rotundicaudata 의 재기재)

  • Two species of the genus Koreocobitis in Korea are reviewed with a key to species and their illustrations: Koreocobitis rotundicaudata and K. naktongensis sp. nov. A new species, Koreocobitis naktongensis is described based on 9 specimens collected from the Naktong River, Korea. The new species is distinguished from Koreocobitis rotundicaudata by the following combination of characters: yellow body colouration with many brownish speckles, truncate caudal fin, fewer vertebrae, and longer head. It is remarked biogeographically that Koreocobitis naktongensis is distributed only in the Naktong River, Korea.
