The Effect of Bowel Preparation Convergence Program for Colonoscopy (대장내시경 전처치 융합관리프로그램의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of bowel preparation convergence program for colonoscopy. This study used a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. A sample of 75 clients, who were scheduled for colonoscopy, was included. The experimental group was given bowel preparation convergence program including audiovisual education, walking-exercise and telephone counseling. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire and colonoscopy monitoring and were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 program. The experimental group reported significantly higher compliance of taking bowel preparation agents and test satisfaction(p=.002; p=.001), lower test difficulty and test discomfort than those of the control group(p=.002; p=.001). There were significant differences in level of bowel cleansing and test time required except compliance of diet restriction between groups(p<.001; p=.001; p=.108). This findings indicate that bowel preparation convergence program can be an effective nursing intervention for colonoscopy. The convergence intervention for diagnostic test is needed to be developed in clinical practice.

  • The purpose of this study was to apply a teaching method that fits the characteristics of learners through the improvement and application of subjects for reinforcing SWP, and to seek ways to strengthen field practice. As a result of the study, first, as a method of applying learner motivation, it is necessary to conduct discussions by inviting practitioners in the field, and to watch the progress of projects by type of social welfare site. Second, as a way to participate in learners, it is necessary to analyze excellent proposals, participate in events held at welfare sites, present various dilemma cases in the field, and try to overcome ethical dilemmas by sharing cases overcoming dilemma, and to make efforts to list practical skills required in social welfare field practice. Third, it is necessary to apply such methods as phone calls, e-campus, Kakao Talk, Zoom, and counseling techniques that are conducted in the case management process as a way to apply interaction, and discuss issues that are important in the welfare field.

Bereavement Care of Hospice Services in Korea (국내 호스피스 기관의 사별 관리 실태)

  • Purpose : To evaluate the present status of bereavement care in Korean hospice service as a basic database for the effective bereavement care. Method : The data were collected two sets from September to October, 1999 and from November to December, 2000, 55 hospice institutions identified by the Hospice Education Institution, College of Nursing, Catholic University were contacted for a telephone survey. The researchers conducted telephone interviews with hospice administrators for 10 to 30 minutes. Result : 1) Among the 55 Korean Hospice institutions, 38 institutions(69.1%) provided bereavement services. 2) The contents of bereavement services consisted of telephone call 28 institutions(74.5%), bereaved family meeting 26 institutions(69.4%), home visiting 22 institutions(57.9%), mail 16 institutions(42.1%), personal counselling 7 institutions(18.4%). 3) The 26 hospice institutions(68.4%) which provided meetings for bereaved families met with the following frequency : Annually is 11 institutions(42.3%), biannually 6 institutions(23.1%), monthly 6 institutions(23.1%) and bimonthly 3 institutions(11.5%). 4) Only 4 hospice institutions(10.5%) used the assessment tool to screen for high risk of bereaved. 5) The major difficulties of current bereavement services were low attendance for the bereaved family meeting, shortage of professional managers and volunteers, limited accessibility to hospice institutions, little social awareness for the bereaved, and financial difficulties. 6) The hospice administrators expressed the need for the development of bereavement program, the education program for the bereavement services, trained professionals, the sufficient provision of human resource and financial support for more effective bereavement services. Conclusion : Although many hospice institutions(69.1%) provided bereavement services, they generally lacked capable bereavement professionals and various individualized bereavement services. In conclusion, it is required to develop the specified bereavement program and the training program for the staff and volunteers, so as to provide customized bereavement services based on individual needs. Further research will be necessary to evaluate the effects of customized bereavement services in Korea before applying to practice.

Service Quality of Dental Institutes Measured by SERVQUAL Model and Intention to Re-visit (SERVQUAL 모형으로 측정한 일부 치과의원의 서비스 질과 재이용의도)

  • The main purpose of this study was to identify the service quality of some dental clinics located in Gwangju and find an association between service quality and patient's intention to re-visit the same dental clinic. The search objects were 197 patients from five dental clinics, and data collected by self-administered questionnaire which was composed general characteristics, characteristics relating to visit of clinics, quality of service, patients satisfaction and intentions to re-visit. The used statistical analysis to find the association between quality of service and intention to re-visit was multiple regression analysis. This study looked at relations between quality of dental service, service satisfaction and intentions to visit again, and found that quality of service including six service areas had a statistically significant positive correlations with satisfaction and intentions of re-visit. When this study conducted a multiple regression analysis to identify variables that influence intentions of re-visit, it found that patients revisited the dental clinic only when quality of service was included. In conclusion, quality of service evaluated by patients influenced on their intention of re-visit and especially. Therefore, this study concludes that improvement in satisfaction and intentions of re-visit relies on Accessibility, that is, providing of medical information, consultant telephone, how delivery the dental medical system is.   • Minnesota state law requires County Extension Committees (CECs). The County Board of Commissioners appoints committee members. Extension Educators are responsible for using CECs to assure the value of Extension work in the County. This paper will explore underlying values, principles and practices that can effect the utilization of CECs in ways that benefit the work of Extension and make the process a good experience for CEC members and Extension Educator. The paper is based primarily on readings in the Journal of Extension, interviews with two Extension Educator, and information provided by the University of Minnesota Extension Service for CEC members.
