An Electrochemical Reduction of TiO2 Pellet in Molten Calcium Chloride (CaCl2 용융염에서 TiO2 펠렛의 전기화학적 환원반응 특성)

  • A porous $TiO_2$ pellet was electrochemically converted to the metallic titanium by using a $CaCl_2$ molten salt system at $850^{\circ}C$. Ni-$TiO_2$ and graphite electrodes were used as cathode and anode, respectively. The electrochemical behaviour of $TiO_2$ pellet was determined by a constant voltage control electrolysis. Various reaction intermediates such as $CaTiO_3$, $Ti_2O$ and $Ti_6O$ were observed by XRD analysis during electrolysis of the pellet. Once $TiO_2$ pellet was converted to a porous metallic structure, the porous structure disappeared by sintering and shrinking with increasing the reaction time at high temperature.

  • Generally, $H_2SO_4$ and Cu metal are used as raw materials for producing copper sulfate. The study relates to a method for producing copper sulfate using electrowinning from a waste solution of copper chloride. Uses are used for copper plating for industry, plating, feed, agriculture, electronic grade PCB. Conventional methods for producing copper sulfate have a problem of a large amount of waste water and a high energy cost. A study on the production method of copper sulfate ($CuSO_4$), which is the most used among copper (Cu) compounds, has a low process operation ratio, a small amount of waste water, and a simple manufacturing process. It is easy to remove Na, Ca, Mg, and Al as impurities by using a cationic membrane. At the same time, high purity copper powder could be recovered by an electrowinninng method. Using the recovered copper powder, high purity copper sulfate could be produced.

  • 고체산화물 연료전지의 구성요소인 전해질의 $(La_{1-x}Sr_x)(Ga_{1-y}Mg_y)O_{3-\delta}$계의 결정상 및 미세구조특성을 연구하였다. Mg의 첨가량이 증가할수록 Sr의 고용량도 증가하였으며 Sr의 함량이 많으면 2차상인 $LaSrGa_3O_7$상이 생성되었으며 Mg의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라서는 $LaSrGaO_4$상이 생성되었다. $LaSrGaO_4$상이 생성된 경우에는 낮은 전도도를 나타내었으며 $LaSrGa_3O_7$상의 경우에는 전기전도도에 큰 영향을 미치지 않았다. 또한 Sr과 Mg 첨가량의 증가는 grain 성장을 억제하였으며 $(La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2})(Ga_{0.8}Mg_{0.2})O_{3-\delta}$$1000^{\circ}C$에서 0.1S/cm 정도의 전기전도도를 나타내었다.

  • In order to find a residual stress in the micro-machined beam, first natural frequency of the beam that has the residual stress inside is analyzed using the Rayleigh's energy method. Micro gold electroplated structure is fabricated by surface micro-machining process. The made structure is clamped-clamped beam and its 1st natural frequency is measured by resonance method. For the better estimation of the residual stress, an equivalent length of micro-machined beam to ideal beam is calculated by FEM. The residual stress is estimated from the equivalent length and the measured natural frequency.

  • The removal characteristics of silver ion from waste photographic solution have been investigated by recovering silver electrochemically. Cyclic voltammetry for synthetic and actual wastewater which containing silver ion was investigated to understand its electrochemical behavior. For both synthetic and actual wastewater, the recovery of silver according to the electrowinning time was observed to be increased as the applied potential was raised. In addition, the applicable potential for the electrowinning of silver was found to be lower for synthetic wastewater compared with actual wastewater. As the temperature was increased, more silver was recovered for both wastewater, which indicated the electrowinning reaction was endothermic. The electrowinned silver was refined electrochemically to increase its purity and the variation of the purity of silver was examined according to the electrorefining potential.

  • In this study, micro tools(WC) to produce micro-structure and parts, were fabricated ell a cylindrical grinding machine using ELID(Electrolytic In-process Dressing) technique. The shape of the micro-carbide tool was square, corn. The size of the micro-carbide tool was measured less than 10$\mu\textrm{m}$ respectively by SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope). Furthermore, we fabricated micro structure by different processing methods on the desk top cylindrical grinding machine. The manufactured shape was like a tower and the measurement showed that the endpoint of micro structure was $50{\times}50$$\mu{\textrm}{m}$.

  • 현재 한국원자력 연구소에서 개발되고 있는 사용후 핵연료의 차세대관리기술은 산화물 핵연료를 전해환원시켜 금속으로 관리하는 기술이다. 이 공정에서 발생된 LiCl 폐용융염은 Cs, Sr과 같은 핵분열 생성물을 함유하고 있으며, 그 자체로서 수용성이고 방사선에 분해가 잘 되므로 처분 수용기준에 맞게 안정화시켜 처리해야 한다. 현재 이를 처리하기 위한 방법으로 고온에서도 핵분열 생성물의 이온교환 및 흡착이 가능한 제올라이트 A를 이용한 이온교환 및 단순혼합 방식이 주로 적용되고 있다.(중략)

  • We developed a procedure that can effectively separate and determine tertiary amines and quaternary ammonium salts in some samples with reverse phase ion-pair high performance chromatography, employing indirect spectrophotometric detection method. Detection and ion-pairing reagents used in this study were benzyl trimethylammonium chloride (BTMACl) and sodium dodecyl sulfate(DDSANa), respectively. Eluting the electrolyte solutions of some commercial electrolytic capacitors with a MeOH(40):water(60) eluent (pH 8.5 adjusted with NH4Cl-NH3 buffer) containing 0.010M DDSANa and 0.004 M BTMACl through Supelco LC-18 or ${\mu}$-Bondapak phenyl column, amines and ammonium salts contained in the sample were successfully separated and determined. Varying the composition, especially the content of quaternary ammonium salts, of electrolyte solutions based on this analysis. we could prepare the low impedance(0.08~0.13) electrolytic capacitors with excellent electrical properties and it was a confirmation that the analysis is favorable.

  • We investigated change of crystal structure, surface morphology and crystal orientation of the electrodeposited film from dispersed $SiO_2$ suspensions (colloidal silica) copper sulfate bath and arse corrosion potentials and physical specific properties. As addition of colloidal silica in copper electrolytic hath, the crystal Particles on filial was fined-down, made uniform and account of particles were increased. Hardness of copper electrodeposited film ascended about 15% and (111), (200) and (311) plane of X-ray diffraction patterns were almost swept away, so preferred orientation chanced from (111) to (110) plane. Also, corrosion potential of electrodeposited copper film was noble with colloidal silica addition.

  • In this study, impurity free V3.5+ electrolytes were prepared using formic acid as a reducing agent and PtD/C as a catalyst and it was applied to VRFB. The well-oriented 3D dendrite structure of the PtD/C catalyst showed high catalytic activity in formic acid oxidation reaction and vanadium reduction reaction. As a result, the conversion ratio of electrolyte using the PtD/C was 2.73 mol g-1 h-1, which was higher than that of 1.67 mol g-1 h-1 of Pt/C prepared by the polyol method. In addition, in the VRFB charging and discharging experiment, the V3.5+ electrolyte produced by the catalytic reaction showed the same performance as the standard V3.5+ electrolyte prepared by the electrolytic method, thus proving that it can be used as an electrolyte for VRFB.
