Nakron School of the ruling Noron Party in late Joseon Dynasty was at the helm of state with Neo-Confucian ideology and it came out of being obsessed with conventional 'spiritual' aspects and changed both political and academic atmosphere with interests in 'matters.' The power leading such a change was scholars in Seoksil Seowon (石室書院) which centered around Kim Won-Haeng (金元行). However, except for few progressive scholars-Bukhak scholars (北學論者), most of Nakron scholars secretly acknowledged the actuality of Qing Dynasty but they failed to get out of old Neo-Confucian traditions. It was difficult for them to accept Bukhak theory which jeopardized the existence of administration. They sought plans both to keep Neo-Confucian traditions and Sinocentrism in Joseon and to reach the cultural level of Qing Dynasty and in that process, they recognized restoration of the statecraft study (經世學) summarized on Seongridaejeon as an alternative. Hwang Yun-Seok is a representative Neo-Confucian scholar in such response of Nakron. He rediscovered value of the science of xiangshu in the Neo-Confucian category and highlighted importance of Seongridaejeon yet again.

How the society perceives National Park plays the most important role to achieve the goal for the National Park, which is to protect the ecosystems in the park. The survey for the visitors to Soraksan National Park was conducted to search for the answer to the question. As a result of the analysis based upon the perception types derived from the survey and factors affecting those types, the National Park can be explained by emotionally oriented type(scenic beauty), culturally oriented type, recreation oriented type, and economically oriented type. The first three types are strongly rooted in traditional culture, whereas the fourth type always conflicts with the goal of ecosystem protection. Korea has a long way to go to be familiarized with both the concept of ecosystem protection required by IUCN(The World Conservation Union) and the environmental ethics approach popularly promoted in the western world. The long term strategy for the protection of natural ecosystem should be approached in a manner that the traditional culture can be integrated into all aspects of park management.

본 논문은 중국전통문화 오행문무(五行文武)와 인터랙티브 미디어 아트 개념을 결합한다. 중국 전통악기 고금(古琴, Gu Qui)을 레이저 다이오드와 빛감지센서를 이용하여 현을 하드웨어적으로 구현하고, VVVV를 활용하여 센서 인식, 음향재생, 프로젝션 화면 영상 시각화에 해당하는 소프트웨어를 구현한다.

The forthcoming twenty-first century is at the mercy of information and culture. A quality of humanlife is under the control of a cultural level. A nation's creative culture and a cultural level represent all things about the nation; and a national image, as a whole result of culture, is enormously influential. This new era of culturalism gives us a significant responsibility for getting ready for the late industrial society by practically harmonizing rationality of modem culture with conception of traditional culture. Industrializing culture and culturalizing industry will be the most important strategy for existence in these days of borderless international competitiveness. Cultural products which is containing a nation's own culture can not only enhance the national image, but also become high value-added industry. While general products are developed for the purpose of convenient and practical use, cultural products are created with the intention of informing international society about a nation or a region. In order to confront with a global market system and a change of cultural environment, it is necessary to create a proper design with cultural inheritance for modem likes and senses, to produce the design on a commercial scale, and to strengthen its competitiveness on international markets. In order that a commodity is born, distributed throughout markets, and delivered to a final consumer, it is essential to understand complicated process such as development, distribution and marketing of products and to systematize each part. Although we should not neglect any part, a political and systemical plan or a distributional and marketing idea will be beside the point in this article. This article presents importance of traditional patterns as a Korean cultural image, and it shows the process of designing and developing products in order for traditional patterns to be utilized for products effectively. I expect that concrete activation and systematization for those works can be carried out successively.

A total of 165 housewives in Seoul area were interviewed to survey the Salted Sea Foods. The aim of this study was to investigate the perceptions and preferences of 20s~50s housewives to salted sea foods. As to the recognition of salted sea foods, shrimp salted sea foods(100%)>anchovy sauce(97%)>canary sauce(91%)answered. Necessity of the Development plan of salted sea foods as to its importance 23%, regarded salted sea foods very important, while 44.8% and 6.1% not important. The Participants considered that we need to succeed and develop salted sea foods. We need to develop new recipes to increase the usage of salted sea foods.

The historic cultural landscape of East lake in Kyung river area during Joseon dynasty was very outstanding that it had many attractions of scenic beauty, however, the Han river of today is being recognized as a natural landscape and as a place with low cultural and historical traits. This study applied landscape characteristics of the cultural space of Joseon Dynasty on visual image elements of Lynch to research the landscape characteristics. The research results are as follows. When East lake was applied to visual image elements, it was recognized as a 'superb' 'paths,' and the 'edge' which signifies the boundary showed its 'superb' clarity of the East lake. For the 'node,' a turning point of direction, Dumopo represented the 'superb' awareness. As East lake, Apgujung, and Jecheonjung represented the 'superb' awareness when 'landmark' among visual image elements of Lynch was applied to the cultural space, the awareness level and reputation were proportional to the visual image elements. When pattern, structure, and meaning of the cultural space were clear and had definite identity, the 'landmark' and 'district' elements were 'superb.' It was also identified that when awareness level of space was higher, the awareness of historic cultural landscape was high as well. Therefore, considering visual awareness level of the historic cultural landscape of Han river during restoration to investigate and to conduct case studies is considered to increase the awareness level of historicity and cultural character as well as restoration of the place.

In this study, we tried to represent representative animals in traditional dance and study about cultural symbolic representations that symbolize them, thus meaning Korean worship of animal worship and philosophy of life and discuss the identity of Korean traditional art. This is to ask fundamental questions about Korean culture and art, and to express the cultural philosophical reason for the representation of animal imitation. Therefore, Korean animal imitation dance was able to get a glimpse of Koreans' recognition of artistic value which is reflected in dance beyond simple cultural code. In other words, it was found that not only magic and sexual metaphors but also the adaptive attitude through natural friendly life and the ethical practice in reality were inspired by artistic aesthetics.

It has been 15 years since Jeju Island first was designated as one of UNESCO Biosphere Reserve areas. Jeju currently holds 5 UNESCO designations and the UNFAO Globally Important Agricultural Heritage (GIAHS). The 5 UNESCO global heritages that Jeju honors are the World Natural Heritage, Biosphere Reserve, Global Geoparks Network, Chilmeoridanggut Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) and JejuHaenyeo ICH. The UNFAO GIAHS that Jeju honors is Jeju Batdam Agricultural Heritage System. Those global titles are highly valued and recognized for environmental preservation and those global designations have attracted more visitors to the island. It is essential to see if Jeju global level heritages are recognized as they deserve attentions from home and abroad yet no holistic analysis on those 6 global level designations as a whole has been progressed to see the perception level among residents and visitors. The study aims to see the perception level of Jeju global Heritages, impact of global recognitions and the channels of the perception level. UNESCO World Natural Heritage and Haenyeo ICH have showed the highest perception level due to designation process and the amount of promotion by the managing division of Jeju municipality. The routine survey as per the result of the study regarding the perception level of those global designations could benefit Jeju tourism direction and help to preserve the island and culture.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how Andong Joongang Cinema (hereinafter referred to as "The Cinema"), the only art cinema in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, is perceived by local people as a local cultural resource. For this, an analysis framework was set for analyzing local people's perception of The Cinema as a local cultural resource, by analyzing the functions of local cultural resources and the function of The Cinema and examining the correlation between the two sectors, on the basis of precedent studies on local cultural resources and related papers on art theaters and The Cinema. Based on the proposed analysis framework, the local people's perceptions of The Cinema as a local cultural resource were summarized into four divisions: the perception of the enjoyment of culture & art, the perception of historicity, the perception of a tourist attraction, and the perception of community formation. As a result, it is judged that The Cinema has the identity, the traditionality and the community spirit as the three functions of which a local cultural resource has, and thus, it is proved that The Cinema functions as a local cultural resource. Therefore, local cultural resources have been performing their functions encompassing its scope with the region's history and surrounding environment, not standing alone. The Cinema also has been functioning as a space for the enjoyment of culture and art, a tourist attraction, and a cultural space for communicating with the public, keeping its historicity of the region. It is expected that there will be specific follow-up studies so that The Cinema can consistently play its role as a local cultural resource.

최근 디지털 컨텐츠의 기하급수적인 증가와 함께 사용자가 접하고 관리해야 하는 파일의 양이 급격히 늘어나고 있으며 이에 따라 폴더의 계층구조가 넓고 깊어지는 현상이 나타나고 있다. 현재 파일시스템은 크게 두 가지 형태로 나누어 볼 수 있는데, 사용자 자신에게 의미 있는(semantic) 계층구조(hierarchical structure)형태의 폴더 내에 파일을 저장하는 방식과 Meta Tag를 사용한 방식이다. 이러한 두 가지 파일시스템을 사용자가 인식하고 Conceptual Model을 형성해 가는 과정에 있어서 사용자의 지리적, 역사적 전통 등의 문화적 요소들이 기저에서 작용하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 각기 다른 문화적 성향을 가지고 있는 사용자 간의 File System을 인식하고 구조화하는데 있어서 차이점이 있을 것이라는 가설을 수립 하였고, 가설을 검증하기 위하여 파일 시스템의 사용 행태를 분류하고, 이러한 행태들이 사용자의 문화적 요소에 따라 어떠한 차이를 보이는지에 대하여 페이퍼 프로토타이핑 등의 기법을 사용하여 실험을 설계 하였다. 또한 이러한 연구모델의 검증을 위하여 파일럿 테스트를 진행하여 실효성 있는 가설검증방법에 대한 모델을 제안하고자 한다.
