Approach to the Earthquake Prediction by Analyzing Foreshocks of Large Korean Historical Earthquakes (역사지진에서 강진의 전진에 대한 특성 분석을 통한 지진 예지에 대한 고찰)

  • Seismicity changes associated with foreshocks of large Korean historical earthquakes of MMI > VIII are investigated for earthquake prediction study. A number of tests showed that b-values of foreshocks associated with these large earthquakes are most stable for precursor period of 13 years before the earthquake and rectangular source area of $1.1^{\circ}$ by $1.1^{\circ}$ around the epicenter. The b-values of foreshocks for 11 large events of MMI > VIII for the above foreshock area and precursor period turns out to be smaller than the value of 0.36 for the whole historical earthquakes with average 0.27. Epicenters of these foreshocks of small b-values are distributed close to the location of the main large earthquake. These observations indicate a possibility of predicting large earthquakes by closely monitoring the change of b-value for an extended period over decades in the Korean peninsula.

전진익 소형기의 전산유동해석

  • Flow computations around forward sweep wing small aircraft have been conducted in this study. The main-wing of the forward-wing small aircraft is composed of two planforms: the inboard wing section with backward sweep angle which is known as strake and the outboard wing section with forward sweep angle. The geometrical discontinuity or kink generated by the combination of these two different planforms requires detailed flow analysis around wing. Four different solvers were used to calculate aerodynamic data and the accuracy of each method is examined. For the convenience of grid generation over the aircraft geometry, the overset grid method was applied. Through this calculation, the basic aerodynamic data of the forward-wing aircraft were provided and the aerodynamic characteristics of the wing is expounded.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the interference effects due to tandem rotor's overlap in the forward flight. To resolve the instabilities caused by close proximity of the wake to the blade surface, the field velocity approach is implemented to the existing unsteady panel code coupled with a time-marching free wake model. The modified code is then used to investigate the effects of the selected parameters on the forward flight performance of the tandem rotor. The calculated results for rotor separation effect indicate that stagger(d/D) appears to have little effects on the forward flight performance at high advance ratio and the square of gap(H/D) is inversely proportional to overlap induced power factor. In addition, it is also shown that the overlap induced power factor increases to a certain extent and decrease back as the advance ratio increases.

Vibratory Loads Behavior of a Rotor in High Advance Ratios (고속 전진비 조건에서의 로터 진동하중 특성 연구)

  • In this study, the hub vibration load characteristic is evaluated for a rotor in high advance ratio conditions while investigating blade loads through the structural load prediction and harmonic analysis. Numerical studies are performed to validate the wind tunnel test data performed in NASA as the rotor advance ratios are varied from 0.40 to 0.71. A good correlation is obtained for rotor performance calculation at the range of advance ratios considered. It is observed that the hub vibration loads remain almost unchanged when the advance ratios are higher than 0.5, even though the amplitudes of blade structural loads become larger with increasing advance ratios. A harmonic analysis on blade moments is confirmed that the dominant structural mode is 3/rev component for flap bending moments and 4/rev for lag bending moments. The reason is due to the tendency of the second flap and lag mode frequencies which approach 3/rev and 4/rev, respectively, as the advance ratios are increased.

  • The snow control storage facilities have the physical requirements that are an anti-icing and deicing operations. They are efficiently and quickly performed, and composed of a vehicle depot for the snow removal equipment and truck, anti-icing and deicing chemical storages, and the control utilities. This study is to investigate the planning guidance of foreign countries, and the actual conditions of the snow control chemical storage facilities for expressway, the national highway and the local road, and is to suggest the planning guidelines. As some of the authorities have no fixed structures for the snow control storage, this study analyze the 5 cases constructed lately. From the result of the case studies, the operations performed in the snow control storage facilities and drawback of the facilities are analyzed with respect to layout, size, plan, and structure, and the improvement planning guidance is also suggested.

Unsteady Aerodynamic Analysis for Helicopter Rotor in Hovering and Forward Flight Using Overlapped Grid (중첩 격자를 이용한 제자리 및 전진 비행하는 헬리콥터 로터의 비정상 공력해석)

  • In this paper, the helicopter aerodynamics is simulated in hovering and forward flight. Also, an overlapped grid technique is applied in this simulation to consider the blade motion and moving effects. The Caradonna & Tung's rotor blade was selected to analyze the unsteady aerodynamics in hovering and non-lift forward flight. Also, the AH-1G rotor blade was selected in forward flight. In forward flight case, the numerical trim was applied to determine the cyclic pitching angles using Newton-Raphson method, and the numerical results were in good agreement with experimental data, especially, the BVI effects were well simulated in advancing side in comparison other numerical results. The governing equation is a three dimensional unsteady Euler equation, and the Riemann invariants condition is used for inflow and outflow at the boundary.

  • In this paper, we propose forward stagewise algorithm when data are very large or coming in batches sequentially over time. In this situation, ordinary boosting algorithm for large scale data and data batch stream may be greedy and have worse performance with class noise situations. To overcome those and apply to large scale data or data batch stream, we modify the forward stagewise algorithm. This algorithm has better results for both large scale data and data batch stream with or without concept drift on simulated data and real data sets than boosting algorithms.

  • 시뮬레이션을 구현할 때 대부분의 경우 eventlist 라는 자료구조를 사용하여 사건(event)를 처리하고 시간을 스케쥴링(scheduling)한다. 그러나 eventlist를 사용하는 것은 객체 스스로가 사건을 처리하고 시간 스케쥴링을 하지 않는다는 점에서 객체지향적이지는 못하다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 객체 스스로가 상태를 가지며 사건을 처리하고 시간을 스케쥴링하는 전차대 전차, 전차대 헬기 교전을 위한 시뮬레이션을 설계 및 구현하였다. 설계는 상태변화를 쉽게 하고 시간 전진 문제를 쉽게 처리할 수 있는 Fa$\square$ade Pattern방법을 사용하였으며, 시간전진 방법은 상태변화에는 논리시간(logical time)을 이용한 이산사건(discrete event) 전진방법을 사용하였고 Graphic Visualization에는 실시간(real time)을 이용한 이산(discrete) 전진방법을 사용하여 논리시간과 실시간을 병렬로 동기화시켜 처리하였다. 구현은 Visual C++의 MFC 라이브러리를 사용한 MDI구조로 구현하였다. 논문의 시뮬레이션은 교전모델을 응용하였고 객체지향(Objected-Oriented)으로 설계 및 구현되어 각 객체의 재사용과 확장 및 수정이 용이하다는 장점을 가진다.
