Large-view-volume Multi-view Ball-lens Display using Optical Module Array (광학 모듈 어레이를 이용한 넓은 시야 부피의 다시점 볼 렌즈 디스플레이)

  • A multi-view display is regarded as the most practical technology to provide a three-dimensional effect to a viewer because it can provide an appropriate viewpoint according to the observer's position. But, most multi-view displays with flat shapes have a disadvantage in that a viewer watches 3D images only within a limited front viewing angle. In this paper, we proposed a spherical display using a ball lens with spherical symmetry that provides perfect parallax by extending the viewing zone to 360 degrees. In the proposed system, each projection lens is designed to be packaged into a small modular array, and the module array is arranged in a spherical shape around a ball lens to provide vertical and horizontal parallax. Through the applied optical module, the image is formed in the center of the ball lens, and 3D contents are clearly imaged with the size of about 0.65 times the diameter of the ball lens when the viewer watches them within the viewing window. Therefore, the feasibility of a 360-degree full parallax display that overcomes the spherical aberration of a ball lens and provides a wide field of view is confirmed experimentally.

  • In this paper, we present a non-dyadic lens distortion correction model and image restoration method based on local self-similarity to remove jagging and blurring artifacts in the peripheral region of the geometrically corrected image. The proposed method can be applied in various application areas including vehicle real-view cameras, visual surveillance systems, and medical imaging systems.

PLC Optical Sensor for Contamination Monitoring on the Flow-Cell in the Water Quality Measurement System (수질 측정용 플로우 셀의 오염 모니터링을 위한 평면광도파로 센서)

  • We have proposed a novel planar lightwave circuit (PLC) optical sensor to monitor the contamination in a flow-cell where water is continuously supplied through a water quality measurement system. We designed a PLC chip with a V-shape waveguide and the simulated its function as a sensor for monitoring contamination in a flow-cell using a numerical the FDTD (finite-difference time-domain) analysis. A novel cross type of waveguide was introduced to make the PLC chip of the V-shaped waveguide. The fabricated PLC was cut into the cross waveguide. A change in the optical propagation loss of the PLC sensor was observed after immersing the PLC sensor into city water. It was determined that the propagation loss of the PLC sensor was 3 dB at a wavelength of $1.55{\mu}m$ in the city water for 15 days.

The Evaluation of Property of Colored Contact Lenses (칼라콘택트렌즈의 물성적 특성 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was analyzed to compare on the physical characters of two companies of color contact lenses. Artificial tear solution was used for measuring the rate of protein deposits and wettability. The surface roughness of lenses was measured by SEM(scanning electron microscope, Japan) and AFM(atomic force microscope, MultimodeTM, USA). As a results, The color contact lenses was not different from general soft contact lenses in a respect of other properties. However, the colored contact lenses showed a severe crack on the surface under SEM observation. There was no irregularity on the surface of the colored contact lenses in AFM photograph. The dyes were deposited in inside of lenses by microscope observation.

  • 본 논문에서는 OLED (organic light-emitting device)의 광추출효율을 향상시키기 위한 마이크로 렌즈를 개발하였다. 차세대 평판디스플레이 및 차세대 면광원으로 주목받고 있는 OLED는 자발광소자이며, 빠른 응답속도와 넓은 시야각, 낮은 구동 전압등의 장점을 가지고 있다. 하지만 OLED는 아직까지 해결해야할 여러 가지 문제점들을 가지고 있다. 특히, 휘도와 수명 특성은 OLED의 운명을 좌우한다. OLED의 발광층에서 생성된 빛은 내부에서의 웨이브 가이드 효과 등으로 인하여 약 25%정도만이 외부로 방출되는 것으로 알려져 있다. 내부에서 반사되어 소멸되거나 측면으로 방출되는 빛을 OLED 전면으로 방출시키기 위한 마이크로 렌즈를 제작하였고 광추출향상율은 8%이었다.

  • The design method that the structure of double actuators of read-only or read-writable DVD optical pick-up of high density can be compact into the structure of one actuator, is proposed. The designed actuator has the structure of the shaft sliding type in which the moving part can be rotated about the shaft accord to a used optical disc and an objective lens can be switched, and is suspended with magnetic spring. In this actuator, Coulomb's friction is used as damping force and the moving part is designed by finite element method so that the second natural vibration mode can not occur within the servo band. The mock-up of the actuator designed in this paper is made, and its dynamic characteristics is measured and estimated.

  • In this paper, we propose the beam-steering system using Rotman lens antenna operating at 2.442GHz which is to replace an expensive phase shifter. The overall system consists of the transmission antennas, Rotman lens and switch box. Setting the initial design conditions, it was designed and fabricated satisfying the requirements. From the result tested in the anechoic chamber, it was found that the beam can be steered using Rotman lens in the anechoic chamber. We also visually checked the beam-steering by turning on the LED of the rectenna showing the real-time beam receiving.

초대면적 플라즈마의 공간균일도 평가를 위한 방출광 진단계 개발

  • 21세기 정보화 시대의 도래와 함께 반도체 및 디스플레이 분야는 고부가가치산업으로 급격히 성장하였고, 현재까지도 미래의 지속적인 시장 창출을 위하여 기술개발과 투자로 초미세화, 고효율, 대면적화에 대한 원천기술 확보가 중요시되고 있다. 반도체 및 디스플레이의 대면적화가 진행됨에 따라 플라즈마 공정장비의 대면적화도 활발히 기술개발이 진행되고 있으며, 대면적화에 있어 플라즈마의 공간균일도는 생산수율 및 공정균일화를 위해 기본적으로 평가되어야 하는 중요한 지표가 되었다. 하지만 종래의 진단법들은 대면적 플라즈마 진단에 매우 제한적이기 때문에 본 연구에서는 대면적 플라즈마의 공간균일도 평가를 위해 플라즈마의 방출광 측정을 기초로 하는 진단계를 개발하였다. 플라즈마 방출광을 이용한 진단은 플라즈마에 섭동을 주지 않고 전자온도의 변화 및 공간균일도를 평가할 수 있다. 이 진단법은 두 마주보는 한쪽 면이 평평한 볼록렌즈(plano-convex lens)로 이루어진 수광시스템과 역변환 알고리즘을 통해 선 적분된 방출광으로부터 플라즈마 방출광의 국지적 정보를 측정하는 것이다. 플라즈마와 같이 크기가 큰 광원의 경우 렌즈 광학계에서 필연적으로 수반되는 선적분된(chord-integrated) 방출광을 제거하기 위해 구조에 따른 시스템 함수를 이용한 푸리에 변환 알고리즘을 개발하였고, 이를 통해 렌즈 초점거리의 정확한 방출광 세기만 재구성하였다. 이러한 재구성 방법을 이용하여 렌즈의 거리를 움직이며 대면적 플라즈마의 방출광 분포측정을 수행하였고, 이에 대한 결과를 발표하고자 한다.

  • The electron beam machining provides very high resolution up to nanometer scale, hence the E-beam writing technology is rapidly growing in MEMS and nano-engineering areas. In the optical column of the e-beam writer, there are several lenses condensing and focusing electron beams from electron gun with fringing magnetic fields. The polepieces of these lenses are usually made with high purity iron which is hard to fabricate and very expensive. In this paper, the possibility of using polepiece of object lens composed with pure iron and low carbon steel was examined to reduce cost. The magnetic field at object lens was calculated with finite element method, and practical focusing qualities of SEM pictures were observed comparing for the object lens polepieces with pure iron and two type of composed with low carbon steel.

A study on the Design and Application of a TIR Lens for Realizing A Compact Spot-Type UV Curing Machine Optical System (컴팩트한 Spot형 UV 경화기 광학계를 구현하기 위한 TIR 렌즈 설계 및 응용에 관한 연구)

  • The conventional spot-type UV curing machine configures a collimator optical system using a plurality of lenses so that the light beam is incident through an optical cable. In order to increase the transmission light efficiency, a collimator optical system composed of three or more lenses is required, and accordingly, it is difficult to align the optical system, and it is difficult to implement the system compactly. In this study, a single TIR lens collimator that can realize the same level of spot diameter and light efficiency as the conventional collimator optical system composed of three lenses was designed. Through this, the light efficiency at the curing area with the minimum illuminance deviation was 33.2 %, which was similar to the performance of the reference collimator optical system, and the illuminance deviation on the curing area was 18.8 %, ensuring acceptable performance. In addition, by arranging a fly-eye lens with field flattening function at the front end of the condensing lens, the effective curing area diameter was reduced from 5.0 mm to 3.0 mm, enabling higher curing energy density to be realized. In addition, it was confirmed that the illuminance deviation can be greatly improved to a level of 14.4%.
