Implementation of High Quality Indexed Image utilizing Common Color Map(Codebook) (공용 컬러맵(코드북)을 이용한 고화질 인덱스 영상의 구현)

  • Image and it's processing techniques are widely applied and very important in the recent IT environment. In this paper, we try to reconstruct original BMP(Bitmap) image into indexed image and codebook utilizing vector quantization and represent high quality image only with same pixel depth of previous indexed image like JPEG etc. That is, By adopting common map method onto index image with $2^n$ color codebook, image can be represented as high quality as $2^{n+1}$ color codebook. When proposed output image is compared with original BMP image, it provides as much around 2dB as higher PSNR than conventional 8 bit index image(normal JPEG). Furthermore, this improvement(2 dB higher PSNR) could be provided when using the 9 bit indexed image.

HMM-based Speech Recognition using FSVQ and Fuzzy Concept (FSVQ와 퍼지 개념을 이용한 HMM에 기초를 둔 음성 인식)

  • This paper proposes a speech recognition based on HMM(Hidden Markov Model) using FSVQ(First Section Vector Quantization) and fuzzy concept. In the proposed paper, we generate codebook of First Section, and then obtain multi-observation sequences by order of large propabilistic values based on fuzzy rule from the codebook of the first section. Thereafter, this observation sequences of first section from codebooks is trained and in case of recognition, a word that has the most highest probability of first section is selected as a recognized word by same concept. Train station names are selected as the target recognition vocabulary and LPC cepstrum coefficients are used as the feature parameters. Besides the speech recognition experiments of proposed method, we experiment the other methods under same conditions and data. Through the experiment results, it is proved that the proposed method based on HMM using FSVQ and fuzzy concept is superior to tile others in recognition rate.

VQ Codebook Design and Feature Extraction of Image Information for Multimedia Information Searching (멀티미디어 정보검색에 적합한 영상정보의 벡터 양자화 코드북 설계 및 특징추출)

  • In this paper, the codebook design method of VQ (vector quantization) is proposed an method to extract feature data of image for multimedia information searching. Conventional VQ codebook design methods are unsuitable to extract the feature data of images because they have too much computation time, memory for vector decoding and blocking effects like DCT (discrete cosine transform). The proposed design method is consists of the feature extraction by WT (wavelet transform) and the data group divide method by PCA (principal component analysis). WT is introduced to remove the blocking effect of an image with high compressing ratio. Computer simulations show that the proposed method has the better performance in processing speed than the VQ design method using SOM (self-organizing map).

  • In this work, the minimum statistics (MS) algorithm is combined with the codebook driven short-term predictor parameter estimation (CDSTP) to design a speech enhancement algorithm that is robust against various background noise environments. The MS algorithm functions well for the stationary noise but relatively not for the non-stationary noise. The CDSTP works efficiently for the non-stationary noise, but not for the noise that was not considered in the training stage. Thus, we propose to combine CDSTP and MS. Compared with the single use of MS and CDSTP, the proposed method produces better perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) score, and especially works excellent for the mixed background noise between stationary and non-stationary noises.

An Evaluative Research on the Performances of E-book Producers and Suppliers (국내 전자책 제공업체의 성능 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined the performances of eight current e-book producers and suppliers in three areas(technology development, contents and services) using 16 evaluation criteria. Each criterion was measured using 6 scales on eight e-book producers and suppliers. The study results showed that overall, Kyobobook was the best performer, followed by Bookcube in the 2nd, Ridibooks the 3rd and Interpark the 4th. Specifically, Bookcube was the best in the field of 'technology development', Kyobobook was the best in the field of 'contents' and Kyobobook and Ridibooks worked equally best in the field of 'services'. Based on the results, some recommendations have been suggested for developing better e-book producers, effective interface design, enhancement of readability, variety of contents, development of multimedia materials and aggressive advertisement.

  • PC, 노트북 컴퓨터, 스마트폰, PDA, PMP, 텔레매틱스 단말 등 다양한 정보단말은 소형화, 모바일화, 복합화 추세에 있으며 이에 따라 다루는 정보, 접근하는 인터페이스, 서비스의 종류가 다양해지고 단말 자체의 이동성이 증가하여 보안 위험이 높아지고 있다. 또한 단말의 컴퓨팅 성능과 서비스의 질적 향상으로 모바일플랫폼이 데스크톱 환경 수준의 일반적인 환경으로 발전하게 되어 요구되는 보안 수준 역시 높아지고 있다. 본 고에서는 Linux, Windows 등 데스크톱 운영체제를 비롯하여 Wqnit 등 모바일 플랫폼까지 보안 요구사항과 기술 추세를 살펴보고 향후 발전방향에 대하여 논의해 보고자 한다.

  • 내게 원하는 영화나 드라마, 음악등의 디지털 콘텐츠를 핸드폰이나, 노트북, PMP를 자유자재로 다운로드 받을 수 있는 자동판매기가 올 하반기부터 본격 설치될 전망이다. 다양한 종류의 디지털 콘텐츠를 인터넷에 접속할 필요 없이 손쉽고 빠르게 다운로드 받을 수 있다는 점이 강점이다. 자판기의 새로운 분야가 열린다는 점에서 기대가 클수밖에 없다. 이 제품을 기술 개발한 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)을 찾아 앞으로 어떻게 디지털 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 자동판매기 시대가 구현될지를 조명했다.

  • In this paper, an algorithm to update a codebook using a neural network in consecutive images, is proposed. With the Kohonen's self-organizing feature map, we adopt the iterative technique to update a centroid of each cluster instead of the unsupervised learning technique. Because the performance of this neural model is comparable to that of the LBG algorithm, it is possible to update the codebooks of consecutive frames sequentially in TV and to realize the hardwadre on the real-time implementation basis.

  • 본 논문에서는 절연형 DC-DC 컨버터의 설계자동화 도구를 제시한다. 절연형 DC-DC 컨버터는 입력과 출력 측의 분리에 의한 회로 보호, 다중출력으로의 확장, 승압 및 강압의 용이성 등의 장점을 가지고 있다. 설계자동화의 과정은 여러 단계로 나눌 수 있다. 토폴로지 선택, 전압 및 전류용량이 적절한 스위치 소자 선택, 인덕턴스와 캐패시턴스의 값 결정, 그리고 변압기 설계의 순서로 컨버터 회로의 자동합성이 진행된다. C언어를 이용하여 자동화 도구를 구현하였고 SMPS 데이터 북으로부터 얻은 실제 회로의 사양을 가지고 다양한 컨버터 회로를 합성함으로 검증하였다.

  • 한국의 오랜 역사와 전통속에서 우리 한국인에게 계속해서 사랑 받아오고 있는 전통국악기들이 많이 있다. 이들 가운데 최근에 와서 더욱더 민중들에게 인기 있는 사무놀이 악기가 있다. 즉, 필자는 사물악기인 꽹과리, 징, 장구, 북 에 대해서 이들만이 갖고 있는 고유 특성 주파수를 찾아내어 우리 국악 악기들의 정체성을 밝혀내어 다음 세대에 우리 전통 악기의 제작에 필요한 악기별 기술기준 데이터로 필요한 고유 주파수를 분석하고 있다.(중략)
