  • The stability constant and the thermodynamic parameters of the hydrazide Schiff base ligands such as N,N'-oxalylbis(salicylaldehydehydrazone)(OBSH), N,N'-malonylbis(salicylaldehydehydrazone)(MBSH), and N,N'-succinylbis(salicylaldehydehydrazone)(SBSH) with dioxouranium(Ⅵ) ion have been determined by potentiometry in 95% DMF solution at various temperatures.   • An investigation of the interaction of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II) and Ag(I) with two N,N'-dibenzylated nitrogen-oxygen mixed donor macrocyclic ligands, has been carried out. Tle log K values for the respective complexes in 95% methanol have been determined potentiometrically. Both ligands have formed stable complex with only Cu(II) and Ag(I) ion. Transport measurements in a bulk liquid membrane system exhibited a very high selectivity of Ag(I) ion over the other metal ions used.

  • The formation constants of the complexes between Ln-EDTA 1 : 1 complex and IMDA have been investigated by a potentiometric titration method at 20.0${\pm}$0.2 degree C and ${\mu}$ = 0.1 (KNO$_3$). Unusually large stability in Ln(EDTA) mixed ligand complexes was found. Trends in the formation constants vs. atomic number of the lanthanide metals were discussed on the basis of coordination number and ionic radius of the metals.

  • In this study, the applicability and reproducibility of LIBS in the analysis of chloride penetration in the mortar section were investigated. Standard analysis (IC, potentiometric titration) and LIBS analysis were simultaneously performed on the accelerated and immersed mortar by chloride concentration. Through LIBS analysis after making an eluate at the same depth for each concentration, the signal intensity of chloride ions was confirmed according to the depth and concentration at the wavelength of 837.59 nm, and a correlation between the LIBS signal intensity and the chloride concentration was confirmed. Although it is an aqueous solution-based LIBS analysis, the applicability and reproducibility of LIBS were confirmed not only for the incorporation of chloride but also for the amount of permeated chloride.

  • In this study, we investigated the analytical methods for bromine (Br) and chloride (Cl) with oxygen combustion bomb, using a halogen-containing polymer materials. On measuring Cl content, it showed less reproducibility of the results applying Mohr method or potentiometric titration method than those applying acid-base titration method. In both Br and Cl tests with an oxygen combustion bomb, their concentrations in the absorption and cleaning solution with distilled water were much higher than those in the combustion gas. On the other hand, the concentration level of Br measured by the oxygen combustion bomb method were a little bit lower than those measured by XRF or combustionion chromatography.

  • Previous matrices of potassium ion selective electrodes are generally based on PVC. In this study, however, the electrode membrane was prepared with polyurethane matrix containing potassium tetraphenyl borate as sensing materials and D-18-Crown-6 and 2-nitrophenyl-n-alkylethers as solvent mediator. The average life time of the K$^+$-selective electrode based on polyurethane was 75 days which is significantly longer than PVC based one. The slope factor in linear dynamic range ($1{\times}10^{-1}\;{\sim}\;1{\times}10^{-4}$ M) was 52 mV/decade. The electrode has been successfully applied to find end point in potentiometric titration of K$^+$ with tetraphenyl borate solution in the sea water, even in the presence of several interfering cations$(NH^{4+},\;Na^{+},\;Li^{+},\;Ca^{2+},\;Mg^{2+},\;Cu^{2+}$).

  • The PVC mixed silver iodide pellet was prepared by means of the Infrared Pellet presser and the pellet was used as an indicating membrane electrode, to measure the potentials for various silver ion activities, ranging from $10^{-1}$ to $10^{-6}$ M. The potential responses to silver ion activities were linear and the slope was much close to Nernstian relation as compared with that of the pure silver iodide pellet membrane electrode and the PVC coated silver iodide pellet membrane electrode. The mechanical property and chemical durability of this electrode were found much better than the others. This electrode did not show significant response to the other except silver ion, but had good response to halide ions, i.e., iodide, chloride, bromide and cyanide ions, in the concentration range $10^{-1}$ to $10^{-6}$ M. This electrode could be used as an indicating electrode in potentiometric titrations of single halide ion and also halide mixture with standard solution of silver nitrate.

  • The open-chain hexadentate N$_4$, O$_2$ ligands 1,13-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-2,5,9,12-tetraazatridecane-tetrahydrochloride (BSATD${\cdot}$4HCl) and 1,14-bis (2-hydroxybenzyl)-2,6,9,12-tetraazatetradecane-tetrahydrochloride (BSATED${\cdot}$ 4HCl) have been synthesized as their tetrahydrochloride salt and characterized by EA, IR, NMR and Mass. Their proton dissociation constants(log$K^{n}_{H}$) and stability constants(log$K_{ML}$) for Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), and Zn(II) ions were determined in aqueous solution by potentiometry and compared with those of analogous N$_4$, O$_2$ ligands contain ethylenic spacers or propylenic spacers, which make six-membered chelate rings between the aliphatic nitrogen atoms. Synthesis and characterization of [Cu(BSATD)]ClO$_4$ and [Cu(BSATED)](ClO$_4$)$_2$ complexes are described.

대전지역 토양흄산과 Am(III) 및 Eu(III) 이온과의 착물반응 연구

  • 대전지역 토양에서 추출한 흄산(TJHA)과 Am(III), Eu(III)의 착물형성에 대한 안정도상수를 추출용매 di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid와 희석제 toluene을 사용하여 용매추출법으로 구하였다. 이온강도가 0.1M NaCIO$_4$에서 TJHA의 총 carboxylate capacity를 직접 전위차적정법으로 분석한 결과 3.757 meq/g이고, apparent pKa는 5.15 이었다. TJHA와 Am(III) 및 Eu(III)의 조건부 안정도상수의 log$\beta$1 값과 log$\beta$2 값을 흄산의 이온화도 함수로 구한 결과, Eu-TJHA은 0.1M NaClO$_4$일때 log $\beta$1=5.948$\alpha$ + (6.83 $\pm$ 0.3) 및 log $\beta$2 = 5.687$\alpha$ + (10.44 $\pm$ 0.4)이며, Am-TJHA은 log$\beta$$_1$= 4.004 $\alpha$ + (6.96 $\pm$ 0.2) 및 log$\beta$$_2$= 3.719 $\alpha$ + (11.71 $\pm$ 0.2)이었다.

  • The open-chain hexadentate $N_6$, ligand containing two pyridyl groups, 1,15-bis(2-pyridyl)-2,6,10,14-tetraazapentadecane (bpyped) has been synthesized as its tetrahydroehloride salt and characterized by EA, IR, NMR, and Mass. Its proton dissociation constants($logK{^n}_H$) and stability constants ($log\;K_{ML}$) for Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions were determined at $25^{\circ}C$ and ionic strength 0.10 M($KNO_3$) in aqueous solution by potentiometry and compared with those or analogous $N_6$ ligands contain one or two propylenic spacers, which make six-membered chelate rings, between the aliphatic nitrogen atoms.
