Infectious bursal disease, so called Gumboro disease, is found world-wide in areas of intensive poultry farming. The clinical signs of the disease are very indicative, but most infections occur unnoticed due to the age of infection of chicken as well as the degree of virulence of virus affected. Edematous and hemorrhagic lesions in BF at early course of infection and the complete atrophies of BF in later are the most characteristic. The infection is considered highly contagious by direct contact, by fecal material and by contaminated feed and water. The virus is also highly resistant in environment and belongs to Diploma virus with size of 55 to 60nm of Ribovirus group. IBDV grows in embryos, embryonic cells and BF of susceptible chickens. Immune-diffusion using agar gel is the method of a choice to determine IBDV infection in chickens. Maternal immunity is very effective in protecting chickens of critical age when IBDV infection severely damages the function of BF. Immunosuppressive effect of IBDV causes more production losses than direct effects of clinical disease of IBD. Inclusion body hepatitis, infectious anemia and gangrenous dermatitis syndrome are the disease associated with the immunosuppressive condition of chickens.
Korea was verified as a measles-free country by the World Health Organization in 2014; however, some imported measles cases and related outbreaks were reported. As the incidence of wild-type measles decreases in measles-free countries, the proportion of vaccine-associated measles is increasing. Wild-type measles is highly contagious and requires follow-up and management of the contacts, whereas vaccine-related measles is not contagious and does not require follow-up intervention. Therefore, measles genotyping should be performed to reliably distinguish between them in suspected patients. Two patients with vaccine-associated measles were confirmed through genotyping at Daegu Fatima Hospital. In Korea, there are only a few reports of vaccine-associated measles confirmed through genotyping; thus, we report recent vaccine-associated measles cases, emphasizing the need for genotyping.

In this study, we tested the anti-inflammatory effects of broccoli leaf hexane fraction to confirm the applicability as a functional material in food and cosmetics. This sample was extracted using 70% ethanol from Broccoli leaf and then fractionated with hexane. The production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-4, IL-6, IL-1β), protein expression of iNOS and COX-2, phosphorylation of MAPKs (ERK, JNK, p38) and NF-κB with broccoli leaf hexane fraction were assayed on LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. The broccoli leaf hexane fraction inhibited the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines and protein expression of iNOS and COX-2. Also, the broccoli leaf hexane fraction reduced the phosphorylation of MAPKs and NF-κB. Therefore, it is considered that th broccoli leaf hexane fraction has the potential to be used as a natural anti-inflammatory material in food and cosmetics. In the future, it is considered necessary to study the anti-inflammatory mechanism and identification of major bioactive substances.

In this paper, the EPC Network as the most important technologies in the field of applied technology research and special attention to the use of RFID to better manage the disease in infected U-MAS (U-Medical Administrative Services) system was designed. U-MAS system, the Center for Disease Control in the illness, depending on the type of isolate and treat infected patients, recovery, discharge, isolation wards and intensive italian to manage and increase efficiency, manual and use a simple computer program improve the qualify of the current level, using RFID tags to improve the management of the patient everything that a little more and be out of the isolation ward, if competent disease management districts, such as the location to respond more quickly to facilitate the purpose is to contribute to. First, EPC Network and related technology for mobile RFID systems and related technology research. U-MAS system design offers. If you take advantage of the proposed U-MAS system for monitoring infectious disease patients and patients in the isolation ward, when the unauthorized departure location to shorten the time it takes to improve the effectiveness of disease management and present the elected effects was.
This study was initiated to find out the possible insect vector and other means of transmission of jujube witches'-broom disease. 1. Eight species of leafhoppers were found to feed on both healthy and diseased jujube trees. Among these, rhombic marked leafhoppers (Hishimonus sellatus Uhler) were most abundant throughout the growing season of jujube trees in all localities surveyed. H. sellatus was far more abundant on diseased trees than healthy ones. 2. Jujube witches'-broom mycoplasma(JWM) was transmitted to jujube seedlings by Hishimonus sellatus. Jujube seedlings inoculated with H. sellatus which had been fed for 14-21 days on diseased jujube plants, developed smaller, chlorotic leaves 40-60 days after inoculation. Electron microscopy of midveins and petioles of the infected jujube seedlings revealed the presence of numerous mycoplasmalike organisms in phloem tissues. 3. Jujube witches'-broom mycoplasma was also transmitted to Vinca rosea plants by H. sellatus. Infected Vinca rosea plants developed vein clearing and marginal chlorosis of upper leaves 25-38 days after inoculation and followed by stunting and ultimate wilting and death of plant. Electron microscopy of petioles and midveins of infected Vinca rosea plant revealed the presence of numerous mycoplasmalike organisms in phloem tissues. 4. H. sellatus survived more than 30 days on jujube, Vinca rosea, carrot, celery, eggplant, hop, Calystegia japonica, Humulus japonicus, Astragalus sinicus, white clover, red clover, and radino clover. Many second generation nymphs of H. sellatus were also abserved on these plants but clovers. 5. Jujube seeds collected from witches'-broom diseased jujube trees yielded healthy seedlings.

Purpose:The aims of this study were to identify the clinical characteristics and determine the changes in the expression of cytokines and apoptosis-related genes in children with infectious mononucleosis. Methods:Serological examinations of 15 pediatric patients diagnosed with infectious mononucleosis were performed prospectively. Peripheral blood from the patients was used to compare the composition of T cell subsets, cytokines, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA, and the expression of apoptosis-related genes with those in 10 healthy children. Results:Mean age of the patient group was $5.7{\pm}3.4$ (range, 3-9) years, and the male-to-female ratio was 1.5:1. Fever, sore throat, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, and cervical lymph node enlargement were the most common symptoms and signs. The proportions of CD3+ T cells, CD8+ suppressor cells, and CD56+ natural killer (NK) cells were higher in the patient group than in the control group (P<0.01). The IL-2, IL-6, and interferon $(INF)-{\gamma}$ levels were higher in the early symptomatic period (P<0.01). Mean amount of EBV DNA in the patients was $10^{2.38}copies/{\mu}g$, and the amount was the highest at the beginning of the symptomatic period and normalized during the convalescent phase. Bcl-2 expression increased during the initial phase, while Bax expression increased during the convalescent phase. Further, FasL expression increased 1 week after symptom presentation and decreased during the convalescent phase. There was no significant change in Fas expression. Conclusion:We analyzed the clinical characteristics and changes in the expression ofcytokines and apoptosis-related genes in the patients with infectious mononucleosis.

Purpose: To evaluate the utility of ceramic-on-polyethylene articular bearing surface when cementless total hip arthroplasty is performed in patients older than 65 years through an analysis of the minimum five-year follow-up results using the ceramic femoral head and cross-linked polyethylene liner. Materials and Methods: From March 2010 to September 2012, 51 patients (56 hips) who were older than 65 years were enrolled in this retrospective study. The mean age at surgery was $70.9{\pm}5.1years$ old. A clinical assessment was analyzed using the Harris hip score. For the radiographic assessment, the cup inclination and anteversion, stem alignment, and wear amount were measured. The postoperative complications were also determined. Results: The mean Harris hip score was improved from preoperative 48 points to postoperative 87 points (p<0.05). The mean cup inclination was $40.9^{\circ}{\pm}6.4^{\circ}$ and the mean cup anteversion was $20.3^{\circ}{\pm}8.1^{\circ}$. The mean cup anteversion of the elevated liner-used group (16 cases) was $14.3^{\circ}{\pm}7.9^{\circ}$ and the mean cup anteversion of the neutral liner used group (40 cases) was $22.4^{\circ}{\pm}9.1^{\circ}$ (p<0.05). The mean stem alignment angle was $0^{\circ}$ (range, varus $4^{\circ}$-valgus $4^{\circ}$). The mean linear wear amount was $0.458{\pm}0.041mm$ and the average annual linear wear rate was $0.079{\pm}0.032mm/yr$. Six cases (10.7%) of intraoperative periprosthetic femoral fractures were encountered. Conclusion: Based on these results, the use of a ceramic-on-polyethylene articular bearing surface in elderly patients with cementless total hip arthroplasty is beneficial. On the other hand, careful effort is needed to prevent intraoperative periprosthetic femoral fractures.
A 8 months old, female domestic Shorthair cat with long-term signalment of anorexia, lacrimation, uveitis and coughing was submitted to the Pathology and Diagnosis Reference Division, NVRQS, Korea, for necropsy. Main gross lesions were characterized by ascities, some grayish-white nodular formation and fibrous adhesion on the surface of visceral organs including liver and kidney. Principle histopathological findings were fibrinous serositis, multifocal granuloma and necrosis, vasculitis, perivasculitis in various pharenchymal organs. Paraffin-embedded tissue sections taken from most of organs with granulomatous lesions were confirmed specific reaction to the monoclonal antibody of feline infectious peritonitis virus in the cytoplasm of many infiltrating macrophages by immunohistochemistry. The report was to describe the pathological lesions of the first naturally-occuring FIP case in companion cat of Korea.
A single inoculation of combined vaccines of Newcastle disease and avian infectious bronchitis of chicken, in a form of gel-oil emulsion type (gel-OEV) was tested their immunogenecity in chickens. The results were summerized as follows: 1. Average minimum and maximum ELISA antibody titers of ND were recorded 2407 and 13144 respectively. In the case of IB, 1824 and 4496 were recorded as minimum and maximum titers. 2. The distribution of average proportional groups, in the lowest and the highest, were 1.6 and 7.0 in ND ELISA and 1.4 and 2.8 in IB ELISA antibody titers. 3. ND ELISA antibody titers were significantly increased upto 7th week after the vaccination. On the other hand, IB ELISA antibody titers were raised upto 4th week after the vaccination.
