A two-phase method in CFD has been developed and is applied to model the cavitation flow. The governing equation system is two-phase Navier-Stokes equation, comprised of the mixture mass, momentum and liquid-phase mass equation. It employs an implicite, dual time, preconditioned algorithm using finite difference scheme in curvilineal coordinates and Chien ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence equation. The experimental cavitating flows around ogive-cylinder and venturi type objects are employed to test the solver. To prove the capabilities of the solver, several three-dimentional examples are presented.
Unsteady flow simulation for the tiltrotor Smart UAV configuration was performed to investigate the powered rotor wake effect on aerodynamic characteristics. Calculations were performed to simulate various flow conditions based on different flight modes including hover, conversion and cruise. Three-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equation code were used for flow calculation and Chimera grid technique overlapping individually generated grids was employed. A dynamic grid method was adopted in simulation of the rotating blades. Flow calculations were also conducted for the un-powered case. Aerodynamic interaction between the rotor and airframe was investigated comparing three data sets from the un-powered, powered, and isolated rotor cases.
Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) is a branch of fluid mechanics that solves partial differential equations which represent fluid flows by a set of algebraic equations using computers. Even though it requires multifarious variables, only selected ones are stored because of the lack of storage capacity. It causes the requirement of secondary variable calculations at analyzing time. In this paper, we suggest an efficient method to estimate optimal calculation paths for secondary variables. First, we suggest a converting technique from a dependency graph to a ordinary directed graph. We also suggest a technique to find the shortest path from any initial variables to target variables. We applied our method to a tool for data analysis and visualization to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed method.

A study of flow characteristics of supersonic fluidic oscillators with shared feedback channel inside was carried out. Unsteady CFD analysis were performed and the numerical results were validated by comparison with the experimental ones observed for the same operation conditions. It was found that the mass flow between individual oscillators through the shared feedback channel directly influenced on the oscillating flow mechanism inside the oscillator, and finally on the synchronization of the jet oscillations. It was also observed that the oscillator with shared feedback channel provided higher pressure loss as well as higher oscillation frequency as compared to the single oscillator of the same geometric shape.
This study develops 2-D analysis method of a base-isolated pool structure, and verifies the method through shaking table test using a scaled model. A wall of the pool structure is modeled as lumped mass, and added mass of the fluid is imposed on the nodes of the structure to consider the hydrodynamic effect of contained fluid. The equation of motion of base-isolated pool structure is obtained by coupling of two equations for superstructure composed of wall and fluid, and for bottom slab and isolator. The scaled model for shaking table test is made with transparent acryle, and 4-high damping laminated rubber bearings are used. The responses of the scaled model by the test are generally good agreement with those by the analysis. It is shown that 2-D analysis method gives somewhat conservative results.
In this paper, flow simulation algorithms for utilizing unstructured hybrid meshes are introduced. First, various types of meshes are introduced. Advantages and disadvantages of each type of meshes are discussed. Unstructured hybrid mesh approach, that is best suited for high speed viscous flow simulation, is presented. Lastly, various types of flow simulations using unstructured hybrid meshes are introduced.
We developed a numerical method to analyze the contact-line problems, incorporating a dynamic contact angle model. We used level set method to capture free surface. The method is applied to the analysis of dynamic behavior of a droplet in DC electrowetting. The result is compared with an experimental data and result of perturbation method.
This paper presents the analysis of flowfield inside a low-density nozzle and its plume into near vacuum. The generalized hydrodynamics equations are numerically solved for the purpose with the help of modern computational fluid dynamic methods. The results taken along the nozzle are compared with those of Navier-Stokes equations and available experimental data. The plume outside the nozzle is also analyzed in order to examine the adverse effects of its impingements.
Pipe network analysis is analyze all of it about pressure and volume flow rate through that are pipeline, junction, regulator and valve etc. In this study is compare TVD with MOC method for analysis of unsteady compressible flow in pipelines. Then, we calculated unsteady compressible flow for pipe network that periodic volume flow rate conditions.
The transient laminar reacting flows around fuel droplet have been numerically analyzed. The physical models used in this study can account for the variable thermophysical properties and the chemistry is represent by the one-step global reaction model. The present study is focused on the vaporization and ignition characteristics, flame structure including wake flame, transition flame and envelope flame, and interaction between droplets. special emphasis is given to the triple flame structure and flame stabilization.
