A Case Study of Alumni Survey for Evaluation of Engineering Education Outcomes (공학교육 성과 평가를 위한 졸업생 설문조사 사례연구)

  • The School of Electrical Engineering and School of Civil, Urban, and Geosystem Engineering of Seoul National University (SNU) have conducted alumni surveys to evaluate the importance and preparedness of the engineering outcomes that are demanded in the industry and to feedback the survey results to the establishment of educational objectives and student capability and the revision of curricula. In this paper, first we analyzed the collected data to see the distributions of the respondents in terms of graduation year, profession, final degree, and so on. Second we evaluated the importance and preparedness of the engineering outcomes and compared them with those obtained at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of UCLA. The above-mentioned three groups gave very similar evaluation of the importance of each item of engineering outcomes, showing that the industry-demanding engineering outcomes are very similar regardless of country or major. Investigating the difference between the importance and preparedness, SNU showed relatively low preparedness compared to UCLA, meaning that SNU is somewhat behind UCLA in engineering education. On the other hand, all the three groups showed considerably poor preparedness in the abilities to function on multi-disciplinary teams and to communicate effectively, indicating that is needed education to strengthen these abilities.

Care Workers' Perceptions of Professionalism and Job Satisfaction (요양보호사의 전문성 인식과 직무만족에 관한 연구 -노인요양시설을 중심으로-)

  • This study aims to examine care workers' role perceptions of their occupation and job satisfaction with their work. They are core human resources in elderly care work practices and their perceptions of their occupation are likely to affect their work performance and job satisfaction. A mail survey is conducted targeting to 400 care workers who are at work in long-term care facilities located in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Pusan. Research findings are as follows: firstly, the perception level of care workers' professionalism is 3.38, and job satisfaction is 3.41. Secondly, the correlation analysis between perception level of professionalism and job satisfaction, coefficient is .553, which shows positive relations between two variables. Thirdly, the study shows that care workers' perceptions of professionalism significantly affects their job satisfaction. This study concludes that it is necessary to take a variety of measures in contribution to improve the quality of service through reinforcement of perception of professionalism higher than present level of care workers who supply direct service in long-term care facilities.

  • This study was performed to deduce the constituents of competence for the practical duty in technical high school's heat treatment and tensile test practice. In order to accomplish this purpose 1) the constituents of competence for the practical duty were deduced through the job analysis and the skill hierarchy analysis of heat treatment and tensile test, 2) the deduced constituents of competence for the practical skill performance were correspond to the Mager's five performance type, that is, discrimination (knowing when to do it, knowing when it's done), problem solving (how to decide what to do it), recall (knowing what to do, knowing why to do it), manipulation (how to do it) and speech (how to say it). The results of this study will be helped to the selection of learning objective, learning content, instruction and evaluation method.

  • This study forecasts the trend of ethnic theme through market survey, concentrating on Los Angeles market. First, the background of ethnic theme was examined, and the present situation of shops, department sores, and headquarter was also surveyed. After that, fashion trend suitable for market was suggested by analyzing the life style of consumers through zip code. The results of the study are as follows. The conspicuous trend of '97 F/W retail stores is ethnic. This reaction to complicated modern life, and symbolizes the desirable evaluation on the simpleness of basic life and nature. The model of ethnic design is identified in natural clothing, primitive arts, ethnic culture and African theme. In short, this ethnic fashion is expressed as simpleness, naturalism convenience and freedom. On the other hand, the standard of general department stores such as Broadway and Robinson May which are the headquarter of this trend is to satisfy various consumers with various styles. Ethnic goods from Broadway has not arrived at the top for its introducing step. To elevate sales of these goods, promotion through VMD and suggesting various ethnic goods should be done. Besides, when analyzing the consumers of Beverly center Broadway, the target of these goods are mostly professional young people in their 25-34 and 35-44. The life style of these people emphasizes sophisticated life in aspects such as job-oriented activities, and up-to-date fashion. Especially, image is very important. They want individuality different from others. These images are diversified from simpleness, naiveness to sexy character. Accordingly, suggesting fashion trend satisfying the demand of consumers through market survey will make fashion market create infinite possibilities.

  • Career and academic Counseling is often viewed as the catalyst for frequent and consistent interaction with students, but it is more than simply advising students about which majors, universities or jobs to consider. Ongoing, personal contact of career and academic counselors with students is an essential component in long-term career-related efficacy. But statistics show that high schools in non-urban or rural areas face significant issues different from those schools in metropolitan or suburban contexts, failing to maintain the significant number of teachers enough for effective career and academic counseling. This article proposes an alternative model of career and academic counseling, provided by MBA(Master of Business Administration) alumni based social enterprise in Seoul. This service explores the skills, knowledge and capabilities which MBA alumni gained from their jobs and MBA programs within the context of a career-competency framework. This paper concludes with the social and educational aspect of this shared responsibility strategy that may enhance student motivation and persistence in non-urban high schools.

  • 본 연구(硏究) 보고서(報告書)는 중앙대학교(中央大學校) 부설(附設) 사회복지관(社會福祉館) 운영(運營)의 합리성(合理性)과 그 기능(機能)의 고찰(考察)을 중심(中心)으로 하여 저소득층(低所得層)에 있어서 사회복지관(社會福祉館)의 역할(役割)과 그 봉사활동(奉仕活動)의 내용(內容)이 어떠해야만 한다는 가설(假說)과 합리성(合理性)을 개최(開催)하는 동시(同時)에 금반(今般) 이스라엘, 예루살렘에서 1978년 8월 14일부터 8월 18일까지 개최(開催)하는 국제사회사업(國際社會事業) 대학협의회(大學協議會) 설립(設立) 50주년(周年) 기념학술대회(記念學術大會)에서 본(本) 연구보고서(硏究報告書)를 발표(發表)하도록 의뢰함으로써 그에 준(準)하여 작성(作成)하였으며 동시(同時)에 영문(英文)으로 기재하였다. 본 부설(附設) 사회복지관(社會福祉館)의 운영(運營)의 월지(越旨)와 목적(目的)은 아래와 같이 요약(要約)하고자 한다. 복지사회(福祉社會) 건설(建設)이라는 시대적(時代的)이며 전국적(全國的)인 여망(與望)에 부응(副應)하여 대학(大學)은 그 선도적(先導的) 역할(役割)을 담당하고 인간(人間)의 존엄성(尊嚴性)과 생존(生存)의 교리(?利)를 주장할 뿐만 아니라 국가부흥(國家復興)의 80년대(年代)를 향한 복지시책(福祉施策)의 기를 공고(鞏固)히 하고 사회사업(社會事業)의 토착화(土着化) 내지(內至) 자주성(自主性)을 확립(確立)해야 한다는 철학적(哲學的) 사명(使命)을 다하여야 하기에 본(本) 중앙대학교(中央大學校) 사회사업학과(社會事業學科)에서는 그러한 시범사업(示範事業)의 일환(一環)으로 본(本) 대학교(大學校)가 위치(位置)하고 있는 인근지역(隣近地域)에 사회복지관(社會福祉館)을 설립(設立)하고 다음의 세가지 목적(目的)을 달성하고저 광범(廣範)한 사업(事業)을 계획(計劃), 전개(展開)하고 있다. 1. 사회사업학(社會事業學)은 이론(理論)과 실제(實際)의 긴밀한 연계(連繫)가 강조되는 학문(學問)으로서 학생(學生)들의 실습(實習)을 교수(敎授)가 직접적으로 지도(指導), 감독(監督)함으로써 사회사업(社會事業)의 전문생(專門生)을 개발(開發)내지 발전(發展)시켜 나가야 한다. 2. 직접봉사(直接奉仕)와 학구적(學究的) 실험(實驗)을 통하여 새로운 봉사기술(奉仕技術)과 사업계획(事業計劃)을 개발(開發)하고 정립(定立)시킴으로써 국가적(國家的) 차원(次元)에서 실제분야(實際分野)에 직접 응용(應用)되도록 하여야 한다. 3. 대학(大學)이 위치(位置)하고 있는 인근지역(隣近地域), 특히 영세주민((零)細住民)들의 욕구(慾求)에 따라서 적절(適切)한 봉사(奉仕)를 직접 제공(提供)하여 줌으로써 지역사회문제(地域社會問題) 해결(解決) 참여(參與)하여야 한다. 4. 사업내용(事業內容) 위의 목적(目的)을 달성(達成)하기 위하여 다음과 같은 사업(事業)을 한다.   • Recently, new information security vulnerabilities have proliferated with the convergence of information security environments and information and communication technology. Accordingly, new types of cybercrime are on the rise, and security breaches and other security-related incidents are increasing rapidly because of security problems like external cyberattacks, leakage by insiders, etc. These threats will continue to multiply as industry and technology converge. Thus, the main purpose of this paper is to design and present security subjects in order to train professional security management talent who can deal with the enhanced threat to information. To achieve this, the study first set key information security topics for business settings on the basis of an analysis of preceding studies and the results of a meeting of an expert committee. The information security curriculum taxonomy is developed with reference to an information security job taxonomy for domestic conditions in South Korea. The results of this study are expected to help train skilled security talent who can address new security threats in the future environment of industrial convergence.

Influence of Individual and Job Characteristics, Professional Job Perception, and Group Cohesiveness on Organizational Citizenship Behavior of Physical Therapists in Hospitals (물리치료사의 개인 및 직무특성, 전문직업성, 집단응집성이 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The main objective of this paper is to investigate the factors affecting organizational citizenship behavior of hospital employees, and based on the investigation, to suggest some implications for effective human resources management of hospitals. For this purpose, physical therapists were selected as the subject of the research. Using their individual characteristics, job characteristics, professionalism and group cohesiveness as the variables affecting organizational citizenship behavior, an empirical model was constructed and tested. A survey was conducted through structured and self-administered questionnaire for the physical therapists working at hospitals of Busan-Kyongnam area, and data from 240 therapists were utilized in the final analysis. Major results of the empirical analysis are as follows: First, perception on professionalism and the degree of organizational citizenship behavior were higher for male, older, relatively more-educated and higher-grade employees. It is necessary to develope some measures to educate and motivate the employees who are in lower state of professionalism and organizational citizenship behavior. Second, among the individual characteristics, need for growth was found to have significant, positive influence on professionalism and group cohesiveness, but no direct effect on organizational citizenship behavior. On the other hand, extroversion had direct, positive effect on organizational citizenship behavior, as well as on professionalism and group cohesiveness. This result suggests that personnel selection and personality education should be conducted carefully. Third, job characteristics appeared to have very large, positive effect on professionalism, but not directly on organizational citizenship behavior. Fourth, professionalism was found to have very large, positive influence on group cohesiveness and direct, positive effect on organizational citizenship behavior. This implies that enhancing professionalism of physical therapists can strengthen organizational citizenship behavior in hospitals, and hence top management should actively support the programs for job re-design, skill education and quality improvement to enhance professionalism of their employees. Fifth and last, as an intervening factor, group cohesiveness appeared to have the largest, direct, positive effect on organizational citizenship behavior. It is, therefore, important for top management to improve group cohesiveness by exploring ways toward greater harmony and solidarity among the members of physical therapy department.

A Study on the Job Satisfaction of Nurses Experiencing Clinical and Clinical Trials (임상과 임상시험을 경험한 간호사의 직무만족에 관한 연구)

  • This study was undertaken is to improve the working conditions by improving the job satisfaction of clinical research nurses and clinical nurses involved in and conducting clinical trials. The survey was conducted from November 6 to December 6, 2017 for 100 nurses working in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The accumulated data were analyzed by frequency analysis, reliability verification, and t-test using the SPSS program. Our results reveal that job satisfaction was higher for clinical nurses (2.94 ± 0.609 points) as compared to clinical research nurses (2.89 ± 0.620 points). Also, the satisfaction level of salary received was higher amongst the clinical nurses than the clinical research nurses. Furthermore, although career decision was relatively lower for the clinical nurse than the clinical research nurse, the importance of job performance and job stability ranked high. Considering importance of the role of clinical research nurses in clinical trials, it is necessary to enhance their job satisfaction by improving the clinical trial environment such as appropriate treatment and professional role, and the working environment including remuneration, professional status, and administrative work to establish their jobs.

A Study on Teachers' Understanding of the Training of Invention·Patent Personnel in Specialized High Schools (발명·특허 분야 인력 양성에 대한 교사 인식 - 발명·특허 특성화고등학교 교사를 대상으로 -)

  • In this study, a survey was conducted to determine the understanding by teachers at KIPO-funded high schools of the specialized training of invention patent personnel. The subjects were 4 high schools and 126 copies of questionnaires were collected for analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, teachers understand that it is particularly important to provide a specialized training for students so that they can more effectively adapt to the changes in their lives. They also consider basic job skills training, moral education and job readiness training as equally important. Second, they recognize the necessity for a specialized training of invention patent personnel. Third, they think that redundant teachers arising from the reform of the curriculum for specialized training should be provided with minor training. Fourth, they think that the reform of the curriculum for specialized training should consider the following aspects: the development of a curriculum for invention patent-specialized high schools, the strengthening of administrative financial supports, the creation of a consensus among those involved for the success of the specialized training, the development of textbooks and materials, and the consideration of the future prospects and current conditions of the invention patent industry. Fifth, they think that the successful operation of specialized high schools requires the consideration of the following factors: users' understanding, conformance, selection & concentration and uniqueness.
