Development and Application of Self-Evaluation Test Items for Secondary Science Teacher Professional Growth (중등 과학교사의 전문성 향상을 위한 자기평가 도구의 개발과 적용)

  • The purpose of this paper was to develop and execute self-appraisal test items on secondary science teachers. Test items included 6 sub-fields-subject knowledge, teaching strategies, teaching skills, assessment, laboratory management, and professional development - and 77 items. Using these test items, science teachers were able to evaluate their ability as prescribed by a 5-point Likert scale. Furthermore, teachers were able to comprehend fields showing their highest and lowest scores among the 6 sub-fields. They could then place special attention on the lowest field insuring self-growth as a science teacher. Self-appraisal test items were developed by analyzing related references on teacher evaluation criteria and standards. 220 subjects composed the sample on which these test items were executed. The results of this study were as follows. First, content validity of the test items was 80.8%. The range of sub-field reliabilities was .76 - .86 and the reliability coefficient of the entire test was .95. The range of correlation coefficient between each subfield was .54 - .69 and that of subfields and entire test was .54 - .79. The correlation coefficient between professional development and the whole test was .79, the highest coefficient observed. Second, significant difference was found according to teaching experience. More experienced teachers had higher scores in all 6 sub-fields (p<.05). In addition, a significant difference according to gender was observed in subject knowledge and laboratory management (p<.05); male teachers had higher scores than female teachers. Also, the higher the level of experience, the higher the scores for subject knowledge (p<.05). Lastly, the teacher's major did not result in any significant differences.

Perception Level of Nurses and Auxiliary Nurses for Radiological technologist (간호사와 간호조무사가 지각하는 방사선사 인식도)

  • The study conducted a survey on the perception level for radiological technologists with 321 nurses and auxiliary nurses working at university hospitals in Busan in order to supply preliminary data to enhance the status as well as professional images of radiological technologists. The result shows the perception level of $3.02{\pm}0.42$ with the highest score for the professional image and the lowest score for the business image. By question, 'they are professional' gets the highest score while 'they understand problems of patients well' gets the lowest. Among respondents, those who are well aware of education courses as well as leading organization of examination and who answer as a health care provider or a medical technician under the medical law show a high level of perception while those who answer as technician show a low perception level. Those who agree with radiologists as a career and consider their status as high in medical institutions have a high level of perception. In order to improve the perception level, individuals as well as associations' promotion and strategies are required to fix the title and enhance the negative images through active interests and kind attitudes toward patients. Also, efforts to escape from previous images limited to technical colleges, to vitalize academic conference and remedial education, and to frame the law of professional radiological technologists system are asked to heighten the qualification and status of radiological technologists. More than that, advertising and monitoring via mass media are needed to develop the image as professional career men as well.

Improving The Formal Long-Term Care Workforce Caring for the Elderly: A Focus Group Interview (요양보호사 교육의 고도화 방안에 관한 초점집단 인터뷰: 직무 및 치매교육을 중심으로)

  • A high-quality workforce is essential to delivering the high-quality care for the older people who are beneficiaries of long term care insurance. Providing adequate education and ongoing training opportunities could be one answer that may lead to the ultimate goal of improving the quality of long-term care services. Thus this study aimed to examine a workforce crisis and difficulties that care workers face in current education system, especially in contents and administration aspects and draw out suitable solutions or improvement measures. The focus group interview approach was chosen to reflect opinions of long-term care workers, directors of the education system in long-term care facilities and managers. The findings from the focus group interviews were analyzed by theme and classified into several categories by common subjects:'Training contents', 'Training environment', 'Administrator', 'Compulsory training', 'Care givers supply', 'Working condition'. Also, four content areas were presented as follows:'Job training', 'Dementia care training', 'Administration system', 'Workforce'. The caregivers demand very practical training programmes and trainers with a lot of field experience. Improving the working condition and treatments for them leeds to expand the opportunity of the on-going training.

건축학교육인증제도 및 행정문제 고찰 - 건축제도개선과 협회의 역할

  • 세계화의 진전으로 사실상 국가간 장벽이 없어짐에 따라, 전문직 자격에 있어서도 각국이 공통으로 적용할 수 있는 국제적 기준이 필요하게 되었고, 이에 따라 UIA는 건축사자격에 대한 국제 기준이랄 수 있는 '건축실무에 있어서의 전문성에 관한 국제기준 권장안(UIA Accord on Recommended International Standards for Professionalism in Architectural Practice, 1999)'을 발표하였다. 때마침 WTO에 의한 전문서비스분야의 시장개방문화와 함께 우리나라의 건축사제도에도 일대 변혁이 불가피하게 된 것이다. 이에 우리 협회에서는 현안에 대한 신속한 대처를 위하여 UIA와의 관계정립이 필요하다는 판단하에 UIA 회원단체로서의 가입을 추진하는 한편, 구체적인 대안마련을 위한 연구를 진행하여 '건축사자격 상호인정에 따른 대응방안(1999.9)'을 발표하였고, '한중일 건축사협의회'를 설립, 3국의 공동대처방안을 모색하는 등 지속적인 노력을 기울여 왔다. 협회 뿐만 아니라 학회를 중심으로 한 건축학교과과정의 모델연구, 건교부와 건축3단체가 참여한 '건축사자격제도 개선방안에 대한 대응방안연구(2002.12)'등을 통하여 이미 5년이상의 건축학 교육과정이 신설되었고, 건축교육인증을 위한 인증원 설립준비가 진행되고 있다. 이러한 변화는 비단 세계화 혹은 무역자유화라는 현안에 대한 대응의 필요성 뿐 아니라 궁극적으로는 우리나라 건축교육의 질을 높이고 국제기준과 동등한 건축사제도를 갖춤으로써 건축사의 자질을 향상시켜 국제경쟁력을 강화하고자 하는데 목적이 있다 하겠다. 나라마다 건축사제도의 성립 과정과 배경이 다르지만, 대부분의 나라에서 건축사제도는 건축사단체에 의하여 운영되고 있다. 우리 협회도 최근에 진행되고 있는 인증원 설립을 위한 연구에 적극적으로 참여하여 주도적 역할을 담당하고 있기에, 관련 내용을 소개하여 회원여러분의 이해를 돕고자 한다.

  • 안전관리는 건설사업의 시공과정 중에 발생 가능한 유해, 위험으로부터 인명을 보호하는 것이며, 건설사업의 주제는 발주자로서 발주자 역할의 극대화는 효과적인 건설재해 방지의 관건이다. 건설프로젝트의 발주자, 설계자, 감리자, 시공자, 협력업자 등 다수 참여자의 장기간에 걸친 공동작업으로 이루어지는 건설공사의 특성을 고려할 때, 기존의 건설안전관리체제로는 건설공사에 수반되는 이와 다양한 유형의 사고를 방지하기 위한 근본적인 처방으로는 미흡하며, 건설산업의 총체적인 안전수준의 향상을 통한 시설품의 생애주기 전반에 걸쳐 안전성을 확보할 수 있는 근원적인 안전관리제도의 구축이 요구되고 있다. 실태조사 결과 공공발주자와 민간발주자의 안전의식 및 안전관리실태에는 격차가 크며, 대다수 발주자의 안전관리에 대한 책임의식이 미흡하며, 민간발주자의 경우가 훨씬 열악한 것으로 나타났다. 정부 감독기관의 발주자에 대한 안전책임 부여도 소극적이다. 발주자 안전관리가 미흡한 원인과 이의 촉진 방안에 대한 도출이 필요하다. 발주자에 대한 접근 방법의 홍보를 통한 책임의식의 고취, 발주자를 위한 안전관리매뉴얼 등 안전관리 도구의 제공, 법령을 동한 명확한 책임의 부여, 발주자가 책임을 이행할 수 있는 자질있는 안전전문가의 활용이 긴요한 것으로 사료된다.

  • The provability of major oil spill acidents around Korean coast is very high due to increase of sea traffic and decrease of quality of ships crews and increase of the old-ship. The Strategies of establishment of a advanced response management system against this mass pollution incident are as follows;. 1. Development of Regional Contingency Plan, which is scientifically illuminated, in order to implement the National Contingency Plan efficiently. 2. Early completion of a national response capability twenty thousand tons. 3. To strengthen training and exorcise specialized in the field of marine pollution response. 4. Establishment of a system of response cooperation among neighbor countries by promoting the NOWPAP tasks etc. The response policy in the 21th century should be concentrated to promote a practicle response capability through response operation scientifically specialized and internationalized by establishing the advanced response system early.

Protective Factors for Social Workers in a Medical Setting that Prevent Burnout (의료사회복지사를 소진으로부터 보호하는 요인은 무엇인가?)

  • This study is to find out factors that protect social workers in a medical setting from burnout. It is differentiated from the existing studies, which focused on factors or process causing burnout. The participants of the study were ten social workers, who have been working in a medical setting for at least seven years and were recognized as competent social workers by at least five other colleagues. The data were collected through intensive interviews. The contents of the interviews were analyzed by using Nvivo2, a computer software program for use qualitative study analysis. The result of this study categorized coping strategies that kept the social workers from burnout. Among such factors were their own admissions of having professional competency, feeling worthwhile and sense of accomplishment, having a firm belief system and value about their profession, teamwork, and their overall disposition. Additionally, they said that the support by their agency and the recognition and support by family contributed to their overall coping ability. Through this study, it was found that the social workers in medical setting were reducing risk factors related to burnout and overcoming them with various protective factors. These protective factors reflected the unique characteristics that social workers encounter in a medical setting. It was remarkable that 'developing and managing their professional competency' was emphasized most as a protective factor.

  • Recently the demand for civil bodyguards and security guards shows rapid growth. However the supply and training system have some limitations. Educational and training systems for civil body and security guards are in the basic level and private organizations trained the professional work force. University level training started recently. To protect individual life and property, body and security guards have to be trained professionally. For it the role of professional training organizations is emphasized. The purpose of this article is to analyse current situation of civil body and security guard training industry and to seek an educational model. For it, the following questions will be examined. ${\cdot}$ Do the professional training organizations meet social demand for the body and security guards? ${\cdot}$ What kind of training has to be provided for the body and security guards? ${\cdot}$ What tare the qualifications of the trainers? ${\cdot}$ What are the differences in training courses between private organizations and universities? ${\cdot}$ Is there any differences in the job placement among the trainees of private organizations and universities? In summary to meet the social demand common curriculum for the body and security guard will be drawn from the analyses of diverse training organizations with different training courses in contents, training periods, educational value, and social aim.

  • A survey has been administered to investigate the adequacy of the chemistry teacher employment examination. The questionnaires were sent to the professors of the fourteen departments of chemistry education all over the nation and the responses were collected from the thirteen departments. From the analyses of the responses, the problems were pointed out and the suggestions were made for the improvement of the examination to recruit excellent chemistry teachers. Reconsideration of the ratio of subject matter education to subject contents, adjustment of format and number of questions, maintaining of proper degree of difficulty and discrimination of items, reconsideration of relevancy to practical education, raising the number of committee for the examination, the reflection of the 7th science curriculum, and opening to the public of the information related to the teacher employment examination were discussed.

  • Endless criminal act has serious effect on safety of the nation and lives of the citizens and it is causing major disorder in ruling of the nation and the society. Also internet generalization in public put country's information foundation on the latest trend on the other hand, due to lack of security concept, cyber crime is on the rise such as hacking and viruses. But with various crime occurrence and increased desire for safety of citizens, there is limit to provide high quality public security service with just police force and equipments. To solve the problems, advanced crime prevention system, not on the nation's level but on the private level was activated private security business some time ago. And now it has its firm place as a corresponding existence with crime prevention capability of police force. Still private security industry of Korea has relatively many weak points when compared with advanced countries and it should be backed up with improvement of the law and the system.
