  • Of all the 55 security departments in colleges, the information security departments occupies the majority of 45. Though existing security focused too much on information security, a new research stream on industrial security from a perspective of convergence has emerged. Since the first department of industrial security was established in a college in 2014, the total of four departments have been established until 2018. A new discipline to solve the existing problems and an opportunity to cultivate industrial security professionals have been greatly appreciated; however, the definition of industrial security is not yet specific, and more discussions on education categories and subjects with a focus on the characteristics of convergence are needed. The demand for industrial security professionals has gradually increasing and the departments of industrial security have been established to meet the demand. It is necessary, in this circumstance, to find out how the industrial security departments are teaching students. To this end, the purpose of this article is to deliver an overview of the educational curriculums of the four industrial security departments. This study analyzed 127 subjects in the curriculums, categorized educational areas, and employed Social Network Analysis to understand the relationships between subjects of each departments.

  • This research provides suggestions for development in colleges of applied music by studying their current curriculum management status and by analyzing the curricula. To that end, this research focuses on comparing cases from four-year universities and vocational colleges. Analysis of the curricula of three departments based in Busan reveal that the curricula of applied music departments bear some resemblance to those of fine music departments, but they also have significant differences. In Busan, applied music departments have curricula influenced by fine art, but they seek differentiation in whatever ways they can. Educational institutes for applied music should expand their curricula to be more on-point, and should seek interdisciplinary courses that embrace other majors, and that promote the improvement of educational environments. Nowadays, there is a need to break away from previous discourse that happens only within the boundaries of music. For example, applied music departments could join business or media departments in launching interdisciplinary courses on music production or policies. Students would benefit from such courses as they expand the scope of their career options to consider not only being a musician but also being producers or policymakers in the arts. People from various sectors could join public discussions to jointly seek ways to promote such collaboration. Now is the time for fundamental reflection on the development of applied music in Korea.

  • The research aims to verify the effects of preference for science and self-directed learning ability of the science puppet show program that the researcher has developed as a STEAM education model. The results for conducting the survey with the same questionnaire before and after the program targeting the students showed that the science puppet show had effects on increasing the science related assignment performance will of the behavioral will among the three sub-dimensions including emotional respond, value cognition and behavioral will, but there was no effect on overall aspects of science preference. It can be interpreted as reflecting the characteristics of the scientific talents who already have a high level of preference for science. In addition, the three sub-dimensions including the cognitive regulation, motivational regulation and behavioral regulation had effects on the self-directed learning ability. Especially it had great effects on the directed learning ability of cognitive regulation, learning motivation of motivational regulation, tool application of behavioral regulation, and cooperation capacity which were greater for female students than male students. It is judged that the three-staged science puppet show program including the 'content integrating stage' that the students integrate the curriculum contents, 'integrated mission stage' of solving the visualization, auralization and performance missions by themselves, and 'process integration stage' of making the stage piece all together.
