  • The Clay Statues of Donggwanwangmyo Shrine (Treasure No. 142) are highly damaged physical weathering which are crack, exfoliation. Pigment of surface are discolored by chemical weathering like dust. The result of ultrasonic velocity measurement, low velocity zone was measured the lowest part of Woojanggun Statue. Deficiency condition of pigment layer was evaluated quantitatively through infrared Thermography. As a result, exfoliation part was detected at high temperature. Making techniques of the Clay statues were identified by gamma rays, infrared TV, SEM. All Clay Statues were founded on wood base and joints of wood were fixed using thin iron wires. After wood base was twisted a straw rope, it was made by clay. Clay was blended with rice straw to prevention of crack and exfoliation. The upper side of clay layer was coated with Hanji(Korean handmade paper) and cotton in order to isolate the pigment layer.

  • Oscillating wave amplitude in a bottom-mounted OWC chamber designed for wave energy converter is investigated by applying characteristic wave conditions in Korean coastal water. The effects of shape parameters of OWC chamber in a view of wave energy absorbing capability are analyzed. Both experimental and numerical approaches are adopted and their results are compared to optimize the shape parameters which can result in a maximum power production under given wave distribution. The experiment was carried out in a wave flume under 2-D assumption of OWC chamber. The numerical scheme employed a hybrid Green integral equation which adopts the Rankine Green function inside chamber to take account of fluctuating air pressure, while it uses the Kelvin Green function in outer domain. Air duct diameter, chamber width, and submerged depths of front skirt and back wall of chamber changes the magnitude and peak frequency of wave absorption significantly.

  • We conducted a field survey of the generation and development of the delta area of the Nakdong River estuary, Korea. To examine deposition and erosion of the barrier islands, we observed the spatiotemporal variations of sediment transport and quantitatively estimated the settling velocity of coastal sediment. For the field survey, we established two survey sites off the coasts of Jinu Island and Doyodeung, which had shown rapid variations in deposition and erosion. At these sites, we measured the net surface elevation change of the bottom level at approximately 1-month intervals. Main findings were summarized as follows. (1) Calculated daily deposition and erosion velocity during the observation period ranged from -1.39 to 3.56cm/day at Jinu Island and from -4.0 to 3.07cm/day at Doyodeung, respectively. (2) Although two typhoons passed by the study area during the observation period, the maximum net surface elevation was larger in October than during the passage of those typhoons.

  • The purpose of this study was to supplement the NURI Curriculum by investigating the practicing level of the NURI Curriculum for 5-year olds according to the demographic backgrounds of early childhood teachers. The subjects of this study were 201 early childhood teachers who work at kindergartens and child care centers located in Gyeonggi Province and were in charge of 5-year olds. The instrument used was a questionnaire measuring the practicing level of the NURI Curriculum. The results of this study were as follows. First, the practicing level of the NURI Curriculum for 5-year olds generally showed high scores. A total average of 3.24 on a 4 scale was found. In each case, educational contents have the highest score, 3.40, and educational evaluation has the lowest score, 3.03. Secondly, teachers' age, teaching career and educational background had an affect on the practicing level of the NURI Curriculum for 5-year olds, but their certificate and institution type did not. That is, the higher the teachers' age, teaching career and educational background, the higher the practicing level of the NURI Curriculum for 5-year olds.

  • The finance of the National Health Insurance(NHI) in nearly every Nation in the world has been traditionally based on premiums of the workers and employers. But in Korea, the government has been guaranteeing financial supports to regional health corporations. After the unification of the different corporations in the NHIC, the government will not have to give financial support to the NHIC. Then this will be a serious financial challenge to NHIC, which has usually had financial deficit. The purpose of this paper is to review the problems of the premium based financing of the NHI and to exam whether such problems will be solved through the financial support from the state to the NHI. The analysis in this paper focused on five viewpoints; 1) work relatedness 2) redistribution effect 3) financial burden of business firms through the premium 4) risk pooling 5) management hegemony of the NHI. As a result, it was found that there are many problems in every five aspects and these problems could be solve through the financial aid from the state. But, it does not without any restriction mean to suggest that the financing mode of the korean NHI should be wholly transformed to a tax based financing mode. Because there are many things to be considered in oder to alter the financing mode of the NHI. Nevertheless, this paper would give a logical background to enlarge the financial aid form the state to NHI, or at least, to maintain it at a present level.

  • PVT modules commonly can be defined as a combination of PV modules and thermal collectors. After absorbing sun light, electricity and hot water can be actually provided to users simultaneously, which dual outputs (electricity and hot water) have drawn academic interest and industrial activities. Additionally, heat exchange between solar cell and flowing water can enhance solar cell efficiency. Because of PVT modules effectiveness, new international markets and commercial products have made. Especially European, facilities and measurement methods are established to evaluate PVT module performance. However, there are no currently appropriate internationally and domestic standards and facilities to test PVT module performance Herein, to test PVT module performance, indoor thermal simulators and fundamental standard study are considered.

  • Inhibitory effects of fungal metabolites isolated from foodstuffs on growth of human cancer cell lines were evaluated. Isolated strains were divided into four classes based on color (aerial, reverse), shape, and growth speed. Fungal metabolites extracted with ethyl acetate were investigated for their growth inhibition on six kinds of human cancer cells by MTT assay. Ethyl acetate extract showed high growth inhibition against all cancer cells tested, with D4 exhibiting the strongest growth inhibition effects against Kato III, AGS, Hepa1c1c7, and MDA-MB-231 cancer cells. These results suggest ethyl acetate extract from fungal metabolites as effective natural cancer therapeutic material.

  • In this study, a new concept perforated breakwater is proposed, which is having resonant channels. In the channel, perforated plate is installed for dissipating wave energy induced by flow separations. The breakwater has two advantages compared with conventional perforated breakwater having wave chamber with slotted walls. One is easy to control the target wave condition for dissipating wave energy, and the other is having the high structural safety because the structural members are not exposed to impact waves, directly. To evaluate wave reflection characteristics of the proposed breakwater, numerical experiment was carried out by using Galerkin's finite element model based on the linear potential theory. The results indicated that considerable energy dissipation occurs near the resonant period of channel, and wave reflection characteristics are affected by channel shape, location and opening ratio.
