Fabrication of axially aligned $TiO_2/PVP$ nanofibers ($TiO_2/PVP$ 나노섬유의 제조)

  • [ $TiO_2/PVP$ ] nanofibers were electrospun by varying the collector grounding design to improve the axial alignment of fibers. The collectors are composed of two pieces of conductive substrates separated by a gap f3r the uniaxial alignment of fibers (X design). The collectors consisting of two sets of substrates placed by $90^{\circ}$ (XY design) equipped with a timer are also prepared for biaxial alignment of fibers. Both collectors show that the charged nanofibers are stretched to span across the gap between the electrodes. Experimental results reveal that the latter collector is more effective on the directionality of electrospun $TiO_2/PVP$ nanofibers due to the dissipation of accumulated electric charge between the collectors.

$NH_3$ Gas Sensor Based on ZnO Nanowires as Sensing Material

  • ITO 만큼 높은 전도성과 광학적 투과성을 갖는 Al-doped ZnO (AZO) 박막을 DC-Pulse magnetron sputtering을 이용하여 40 nm 두께로 증착 후 리소그라피 공정을 통해 $30{\mu}m$ 간격으로 패터닝 하였다. 간격 30 ${\mu}m$로 배열된 AZO를 촉매층으로 하는 수열합성법을 리사이클 공정을 반복하여 수행하여 ZnO 나노선을 성장시켰다. 이와 같이 AZO 전극 사이에 길이 $30{\mu}m$의 ZnO 나노선이 래터럴 구조로 연결된 소자의 $NH_3$ 가스감지 특성을 조사하였다. 합성된 나노선의 전기적, 광학적, 구조적인 특성을 분석하여 높은 가스 감지도를 예상할 수 있는 특성을 확인하였다. 제작된 가스센서를 진공 챔버에 설치 후 양 전극간에 동작전압(Operating voltage)을 1 V로 인가하여 고정한 후에 $NH_3$를 주입(Injection)과 퍼지(Purge)를 반복하며 그 주입량(10 ppm, 20 ppm, 40 ppm, 60 ppm)에 변화를 주었고, 그에 따른 전류변화를 관찰하여 $NH_3$ 가스감지특성을 평가하였다.

나노 구조를 이용한 LED를 광추출 효율 개선

  • GaN 기반의 InGaN/GaN 다중양자우물(MQW) 구조의 발광다이오드는 다양한 파장대의 가시광을 방출하는 소자로 교통 신호등, 디스플레이, LCD backlight, 일반 조명까지 넓게 응용되고 있다. 그러나, 이러한 응용을 위해서는 전류 주입 효율, 내부양자효율, 광추출 효율을 개선하는 연구를 통한 발광 다이오드의 광효율을 높이는 연구가 필수적이다. 최근 많은 연구 개발에 의해 내부양자효율은 크게 향상 되었지만, 광추출 효율은 GaN (n=2.4)와 공기 (n=1)의 굴절률 차이에 의해 아직까지 낮은 실정이다. 광추출 효율을 개선하기 위해 반사전극, 전방향 반사전극, 표면 거칠기, Chip 성형 등의 기술이 제안되고 있다. 본 연구는 LED의 광추출 효율을 높이기 위해 다양한 모양의 Hydrothermal 법에 의해 성장된 ZnO 나노 구조 및 나노스피어 리소그라피를 통한 폴리스티렌 나노 구체의 주기적인 배열에 따른 특성을 연구하였다.

  • 가속기 연구소에서 개발한 고전압 대전류용 Seal-off TVS (Triggered Vacuum Switch)의 특성을 시험 하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 제작한 TVS는 양전극과 음전극이 교대로 고정된 간격으로 각각 3개의 전극으로 배열되어 있으며 전극은 사다리꼴 모양으로 되어있고 트리거 시스템과 개스를 흡수하는 게터가 내부에 설치되어 있다. 제작한 스위치 내부는 약 $10^{-7}$ torr의 진공상태를 유지하고 있으며 세라믹 챔버를 사용하여 Seal-off 상태로 설계, 제작하였다. 스위치 시험장치는 200 ${\mu}F$, 22 kV 6개를 병렬로 연결한 커패시터 뱅크와 $20{\mu}H{\sim}160{\mu}H$의 탭변환 인덕터와 $0.1{\Omega}{\sim}0.5{\Omega}$ 의 저항을 이용하여 시험 장치를 구성하였다. TVS의 시험에서 에너지 최고 전달량은 74 C 이었으며 이때 인가전압은 30 kV, 최대 전류는 100 kA, 펄스폭은 1${\sim}$2 ms이었다. 본 논문은 제작한 스위치의 전기적인 특성 시험한 결과에 대하여 논하고자 한다.

  • Using numerical analysis modeling of Multi-electrode Array that could be applied to the corrosion state measurement of a reinforcing steel bar in concrete, the steel bar location inside concrete can be probed by the investigation of the change of the measured impedance from concrete surface determined by the electrical impedance of interface between the steel bar and concrete, the electrical resistivity of concrete, the array of electrodes and the relative location and diameter of the steel bar.

  • Capacitively-coupled resistivity (CCR) system is known to be very useful where galvanic contact to earth is impossible, such as the area covered with thick ice, snow, concrete or asphalt. This system injects current non-galvanically, i.e., capacitively to earth through line antenna and measures potential difference in a same manner. We derived geometric factor for two types of antenna configuration and presented the method of processing and converting the data obtained with CCR system suitable to conventional resistivity inversion analysis. The CCR system, however, has limitations on use at conductive area or electrically noisy area since it is very difficult to inject sufficient current to earth with this system as with conventional resistivity system. This causes low SM ratio when acquiring data with CCR system and great care must be taken in acquiring data with this system. Additionally the uniform contact between line antennas and earth is also crucial factor to obtain good S/N ratio data. The CCR method, however, enables one to perform continuous profiling over a survey line by dragging entire system and thus will be useful in rapid investigation of conductivity distribution in shallow subsurface.

  • This paper describes a trans-admittance scanner for breast cancer detection. A FPGA-based sinusoidal waveform generator produces a constant voltage. The voltage is applied between a hand-held electrode and a scan probe placed on the breast. The scan probe contains an 8x8 array of electrodes that are kept at the ground potential. Multi-channel precision digital ammeters using the phase-sensitive demodulation technique were developed to measure the exit current from each electrode in the array. Different regions of the breast are scanned by moving the probe on the breast. We could get trans-admittance images of resistor and saline phantoms with an anomaly inside. The images provided the information on the depth and location of the anomaly. In future studies, we need to improve the accuracy through a better calibration method. We plan to test the scanner's ability to detect a cancer lesion inside the human breast.

A Study on Application of Electrical Resistivity Survey to Detect the Leakage of Embankment with Weak Zone (취약대가 존재하는 제방의 누수 탐지를 위한 전기비저항 탐사의 적용성 연구)

  • The water leakage of reservoir embankment usually occurs around channelling pipes, which gives little influence on the embankment in a normal state. However, the embankment can be destroyed when the water level of reservoir increases with heavy rain and the rainy season in summer. Investigating the water vein and its path is therefore very important from the viewpoint of disaster prevention and embankment maintenance. The water leakage in dams and levees where the channelling pipes are working as weak zone was analyzed by using both numerical simulation and experimental method in this study. To detect the water leakage, an electrical resistivity survey was used and investigated for its' usability. The numerical results show the size and location of weak zone increases the importance of selection of electrode spacing. The leakage experiments of model embankment present the best result is obtained under the conditions of electrode spacing of 0.3m and dipole-dipole array. By studying the water leakage in dams and levees, the electrical resistivity survey is observed it is a very useful method to predict the leakage.

Resistivity Survey on Stylobate of Five-story Stone Pagoda in Tamni-ri, Uiseong (의성 탑리리 오층석탑 기단부 전기비저항 탐사)

  • The five-story stone pagoda in Tamni-ri located in Uiseong County in Gyeongsangbuk-do had an unstable upper structure, and the structural deformation of the foundation stone and the stylobate was severe. In order to repair the base of the pagoda, it must be confirmed if there are support stones inside the base. Resistivity survey was performed to study the inner base stone structure during the repair work. The stylobate was exposed soil and broken stones after removing the walls and the cover of the stylobate. Modified pole-dipole array II was used for the resistivity survey, and compared with the typical pole-dipole array method. And in this study, a physical scale-down model experiment was performed to compare and analyze distortions caused by severe topographical undulations such as right-angled lines. The results show that the stylobate of Five-story Stone Pagoda in Tamni-ri Uiseong has base stones inside the reinforced filling soil and are located beneath the pillar of the body and supporting the pagoda.
