Comparison of Attitude Toward Antidepressants Between Medical and Surgical Group Outpatients in a Korean University Hospital (일 대학병원 내과계열 및 외과계열 외래 환자들의 항우울제에 대한 태도 및 인식에 대한 연구)

  • Objectives : Antidepressants are prescribed by not only psychiatrists but also general practitioners. However, patients' negative attitude and stigma against antidepressants are major obstacles to prescribe antidepressants in nonpsychiatric outpatient departments. We, therefore, examined patients' attitude toward antidepressant in medical and surgical group outpatient in Korea. Methods : Short item questionnaire was applied to medical group and surgical group outpatients who consented to this survey in a Korean university hospital. 100 medical and 100 surgical outpatients were surveyed. The questionnaire contained sociodemographic information, previous recognition of antidepressant, and general attitude toward attidepressants. Results : Of the 212 recipients, exclusive of erroneous and missing ones, we analyzed 200 recipients. 1) We found negative attitude toward antidepressants among both medical and surgical outpatients. 2) Medical group outpatients are answered more' antidepressants cause physically ill. 3) The persons who didn't take previously antidepressants showed more negative attitudes. 4) The most reason why they refuse to take antidepressants is concerns of side effects of antidepressants. Conclusion : There are highly negative attitude toward antidepressants between medical and surgical group outpatients. Study findings suggest the need for an active education on antidepressants to nonpsychiatric outpatients to maximize their therapeutic effect and compliance.

  • The college's beauty department, which has a globalized education system that breaks away from the uniform beauty concept, can dominate in the fierce competition with other schools, and the development and vitalization of the department is guaranteed. In addition, research on the department name is very necessary to establish internal and external PR strategies for affiliated departments and departments and to analyze the direction of realistic beauty education. Accordingly, as a result of analyzing the trends of the department and department name by classifying the universities in Yeonghonam into four regions, the departments belonging to each region of the beauty department showed the most belonging to the natural science and arts and sports departments. In addition, the names of beauty departments by region are Busan and Gyeongnam, Daegu and Gyeongbuk, Gwangju and Jeonnam, and Jeonbuk with 5 beauty departments (29.41%), 3 beauty design schools (13.04%), and 8 beauty and beauty departments. (50.00%), beauty design departments, 2 schools (33.33%). This study makes it possible to cultivate professional beauticians who cultivate an artistic and creative sense that meets the educational goals of beauty education, and it is expected that it will be provided as a very necessary basic data for the division of departments or change of department name according to detailed majors.

Personal Financial Management Ability of College Students -A survey of D college- (대학생의 개인재무관리역량 -대구 D대학교를 중심으로-)

  • First, the average scores of personal financial management ability in the college students' financial management attitude were 72.24 for male and 71.65 for female, so that male students showed a little higher score than female. College students who had an experience of opening a bank account and who kept a record of spending revealed higher scores. Those whose parents were elementary or middle school graduates unfolded the highest score, 73.67, and the lowest score, 63.35, from those whose parents had M.A. or Ph.D. The average scores of personal financial management ability in the college students' financial management knowledge indicated almost no difference with 63.26 for male and 63.35 for female. Only whether they had an experience of opening a bank account, keeping a record of spending, or a credit card revealed score differences. Depending on the students' majors, there were also score differences. Students from engineering department came up with the highest score, an average of 66.88, and students from art & physical education department with the lowest score, 53.39, in the financial management knowledge. The personal financial management ability in the college students' financial management function showed that the score of male students was a little higher than that of female, 64.26 versus 63.58. Students who kept a record of spending and whose parents' income was between three million won and four million won marked the highest score, an average of 65.26, and students whose parents' income was below two million won marked the lowest score, an average of 60.43, in the college students' financial management function. There were score differences in the college students' financial management function depending on the students' majors. Students from engineering department came up with the highest score, an average of 69.67, and students from public health department with the lowest score, 63.21.

  • This study tried to suggest a plan for an efficient management and utilization of job-related collections closely connected to the job education field of colleges. The data were collected through data inquiry, telephone interview inquiry and questionnaire and based on the results of the analysis, an efficient utilization plan of job-related collections was derived. It reached a result that it is desirable that libraries initiatively operate job-related collections but in consideration of the approachability, use convenience and utilization of students, the display and management of materials are performed jointly with libraries and employment departments. In addition, so as to plan the development of the job-related collections, libraries need to develop the common basic major materials by major to consider the characteristics as well as educational purposes of colleges and develop the core employment major data connected to major related certificates and intensively secure job practice focused materials.

  • This study aims to identify the relationship among self-esteem, major satisfaction, appearance satisfaction, and employment stress of college students and to suggest suggestions for this. The subjects of this study were students in B metropolitan city, and data analysis was conducted using SPSS WIN/22.0 program. The result of the study showed that the difference in employment stress according to general characteristics was significant in grade (f=4.25, P=0.01), religion (t=0.70), department and department (F=7.50, P=.0001), personality (F=6.406, P=0.001), university life satisfaction (f=8.09, P=0.001), and average score (f=5.37, P=0.005). The employment stress of the subjects was negatively correlated with self-esteem(r=-.439, p<.001), major satisfaction(r=-.377, p<.001), and appearance satisfaction(r=-.273, p<.001).Based on the results of the study, it is necessary to develop an integrated program to improve self-esteem, major satisfaction, and appearance satisfaction in order to reduce the employment stress of college students, and repetitive studies are required to explore various factors.

Comparison of Hand Washing Awareness and Performance of College Students by Health Departments (일부 보건 계열 대학생에서 손 씻기의 인식도 및 실천도에 대한 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness and performance of hand washing in some health-related college students and to provide basic data on the management of hand washing through the difference and correlation between awareness and performance. This study collected data from 367 questionnaires excluding non-response and unfaithful responses from health-related college students in nursing, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. The survey tool was a Likert 5-point scale self-filled questionnaire that examined general characteristics, hand washing awareness and performance. The general characteristics of the subjects were calculated by frequency analysis, and one-way ANOVA, awareness and performance were analyzed by Pearson's correlation. There was a significant difference in the awareness of hand washing in some health-related college students in the presence or absence of infection education and in all areas except gender. According to the characteristics of the health department, the awareness and performance of hand washing showed a significant difference in the order of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing. There was a significant difference in hand washing awareness in grade characteristics and no significant difference in performance. There was a high correlation between awareness and performance of hand washing.

The Study on Needs of Health college students on Extracurricular Programs (보건계열 대학생의 비교과 교육프로그램 요구도 조사)

  • This study was conducted to improve the direction of extracurriculular education for health students and to establish and systematic extracurricular education and operation system. The needs and priorities of extracurricular education programs were investigated through a survey of health students. The data were analyzed by Borich's needs and The Locus for Focus Model. As a result of priorities of extracurriculular programs according to Borich's needs, the top 10 programs included 'certification', 'career exploration', 'overseas service', 'second language', 'employment education', 'talent donation', 'English', 'computer utilization', and 'major convergence learning'. As a result of priorities by applying The Locus for Focus Model, 'certification', 'career exploration', 'employment education', 'foreign service', 'English', 'domestic service', 'second foreign language', 'talent donation', and 'computer utilization' was included. A total of nine programs were derived by combining Borich and The Locus for Focus Model, and priorities were 'certification', 'career exploration', 'overseas service', 'second foreign language', 'employment education', 'talent donation', 'English', 'computer utilization', and 'domestic service'. As a result of this study, health students had a high needs for comparison programs for employment and volunteer programs, so universities should reflect this and establish a comparison program operation system for health students.

Major Satisfaction as a Mediator of between Job-seeking Stress and Depression in University Students: Comparing in Social Sciences and Humanities with in Natural Sciences and Engineering (대학생의 취업 스트레스와 우울의 관계에서 전공만족도의 매개효과: 인문사회계열과 자연공학계열 비교를 중심으로)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediator effect of major satisfaction in relation to depression and job-seeking stress of university students according to the majors. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in three universities randomly chosen from 47 universities in Seoul, Korea. Participants were 241 undergraduate students who were eligible and agreed to participate in the study. Data were collected from October 27 to November 10, 2014. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, $x^2$ test, Fisher's exact test, t-test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Pearson correlation coefficients, simple and multiple regression techniques with the PASW/WIN 20.0 program. Results: There were significant negative, negative, and positive correlations between job-seeking stress and major satisfaction, major satisfaction and depression, and job-seeking stress and depression regardless of major field, respectively. Moreover, in the major group in natural science and engineering, the link between job-seeking stress and depression was partially mediated by major satisfaction. Conclusion: The findings of this study contribute to providing basic data for the development of job-seeking stress and depression intervention programs and future study for university students.

Relationship between University Student's attributional-style and learning Adaptation Considered in Department Selection (대학생들의 귀인성향과 학과 선택 시 우선고려사항에 따른 학과적응에 미치는 요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the factor giving effect to department selection, learning adaptation and attributional-style after entering school by selecting university students as targets and help high school students who will graduate soon and university students select department and direction. Those were analyzed by using 287 questionnaire data from June 1 to June 30, 2011. The study result revealed that 64.5% of students considered 'popularity and employment prospect' first when they select department. Generally, it was researched that when selecting department, 68.8% of women and 78.7% of health major considered 'popularity and employment prospect'(P<0.05, P<0.01). For learning adaptation and attribution trend of each major, health major showed that learning adaptation was high when motif was high and application score was high and for the relationship with attributional-style, health major showed higher internal attributional-style, showing significant difference(P<0.05). When synthesizing the results above, it is necessary to develop and use the program that can develop internal attribution trend of students on the basis of attributional-style. For planned and careful selection, it is necessary to perform synthetic consulting through direction search program that considers entrance period of middle school or high school, general affairs of university or direction guide to increase department or direction adaptation in the future.

Study on Self-esteem, Communication Skills, and Empathy in Junior College Students (일부 전문대 학생들의 자아존중감, 의사소통능력, 공감능력에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of self-esteem and communication skills on empathy in junior college students. A total of 253 students from a participated in the study. The data for the study were collected from March 11-21, 2019 via a questionnaire. Analyses including descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis were performed. Based on the general characteristics of the participants, the study results were as follows. Statistically significant differences were found in self-esteem depending on major, economic status, family relationship, and satisfaction with major. There were statistically significant differences in communication skills depending on major, family relationship, and satisfaction with major. Statistically significant differences were found in empathy depending on gender, academic year, major, and religion. There were positive correlations between self-esteem and communication skills, self-esteem and empathy, and communication skills and empathy. Furthermore, in terms of variables affecting empathy, 27.1% of the variation in empathy was explained by communication skills and gender. Based on these results, it is recommended that an effectual program is designed and applied to improve communication skills in order to enhance empathy in junior college students.
