Effect of PE Film Thickness on MA (Modified Atmosphere) Storage of Strawberry (Polyethylene Film 두께에 따른 딸기의 MA(Modified Atmosphere) 저장 효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of various polyethylene (PE) film packaging on the quality of strawberry during storage at low temperature. Gas composition in film was changed rapidly at early stage of storage and then kept at the level of 5~10% $CO_2$and 1~3% $O_2$. Weight loss and decay rate were low at 0.08mm PE film packed strawberries. Titratable acidity, pH and soluble solids were changed slightly during storage but its large difference according to film thickness was not observed. Decrease of flesh firm-ness and a value was restrained by PE film packaging. Free sugar of strawberry was composed of glucose and fructose in similar content and it was decreased a little during storage but the difference according to film thickness was not observed. The organic acids in strawberry were citric acid, malic acid, succinic acid, ascorbir acid, oxalic acid, tartaric acid and pyruvic acid and the major organic acid was citric acid. The contents of citric acid, malic acid, succinir acid and ascorbic acid were decreased and oxalic acid and tartaric arid were not changed during storage but pyruvic acid was increased in early stage and then decreased. These changes of organic acid were slight in packaged with 0.08mm PE film strawberry.

Quality Characteristics and Antioxidant Activity of Yogurt Added with Whole Barley Floura (통보릿가루를 첨가한 요구르트의 품질특성 및 항산화 활성)

  • In this study, a yogurt containing skim milk powder and whole barley flour was fermented with lactic acid bacteria, and its quality and properties were estimated. The yogurts with 1% and 3% barley flour had lower pH values, higher titratable acidity, and higher Brix values than the control. In addition, the viable cell counts were lower and viscosity was higher. The value of L was low, and the values of a and b were high. The yogurt with 3% barley flour had more lactic acid than the control and showed a substantial increase in the amount of acetic acid. ${\beta}$-Glucan content and antioxidant activity increased with the amount of barley flour added. In sensory evaluation, there was a similar preference for the yogurt with 3% barley flour and the control, and as the barley flour content increased, the preference decreased. Moreover, the preference for the yogurt was higher among old people.

  • Research was initiated to evaluate four domestic and overseas organic soil amendments (SAs) on turfgrass groundcover and density and to provide basic information on practical sports turf establishment. This study was conducted in Agrostis palustris Huds. (CB) grown in sand-based root zone. A total of 20 treatments of SA+sand were prepared by mixing 10 to 50% (v/v). These amendments were SABP (Berger Peat), SAEP (Eco-Peat), SAGS (G1-Soil), and SAPP (Premier Peat). Turfgrass groundcover and density significantly varied with SAs, its mixing rate to sand and week after seeding (WAS). Cumulative turfgrass density was variable, but a great change occurred between 2 and 4 WAS. Turfgrass density at 2 WAS ranged from 36.7 (SABP 30) to 89.7% (SAGS 20), being 53.0% in differences among treatments. However, CB reached to carrying capacity around 6 WAS. Thus, most treatments were similar to 90% or so in density. At the end of study, overall groundcover ranged between 60.7 (SAEP 10) and 96.7% (SAPP 50). Proper mixing rate was variable with SAs, being 10 and 20% for SABP and SAGS, respectively. But the optimum rate was 50% for both SAEP and SAPP.

Effects of Concentration of $NO_3^--N$, K and Ca in nutrient solution on Seedling Growth of Mudeungsan Watermelon (배양액내 $NO_3^--N$, K 및 Ca의 농도가 무등산수박 유묘의 생장에 미치는 영향)

  • 무등산 수박의 유묘 생산에 있어 적정 배양액 농도를 구명하기 위하여 일본원시균형배양액을 기준으로 하여 NO$_3$-N, K 및 Ca의 농도별 첨가량에 따른 유묘생장반응을 조사하였다. 1. 배양액내 질소농도을 증가시킬수록 초장, 엽면적, 엽수, 엽장, 엽폭이 증가하였으며 생체중과 건물중도 증가하였다. 2. 배양액내 칼륨의 농도를 증가시켰을 경우 수박 유묘의 초장은 200ppm까지는 약간 증가하지만 엽면적, 엽수, 엽장, 생체중 및 건물중은 200ppm이상으로 증가시키면 감소하는 경향이었다. 3. 칼슘처리의 경우 농도의 증가가 생장의 증가를 나타내지는 않았으며 원시균형 배양액의 표준이라 할 수 있는 80ppm처리구의 생장이 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 4. 배양액(일본원시균형배양액 1/2농도)에 N의 농도를 200ppm으로 증가시킬 경우 수박유묘의 엽병내 N, K 및 Mg의 함량이 증가하였지만 P 및 Ca의 증가나 감소의 경향은 보이지 않았다. 5. K의 농도를 100ppm으로 증가시킬 경우 수박유묘의 엽병내 N, K 및 Mg의 함량이 증가하였지만 P 및 Ca의 증가나 감소의 경향은 보이지 않았다. 5. K의 농도를 150ppm으로 증가시킬 경우 수박유묘의 엽병내 N, K 및 Mg의 함량이 증가하였지만 P 및 Ca의 증가나 감소의 경향은 보이지 않았다. 그러나 200ppm이상으로 증가시킬 경우 N과 Mg의 감소가 나타났다. 6. 양액내 Ca의 농도를 증가시킬수록 엽병내 N, K Ca 및 Mg의 농도가 증가하는 반면 P의 경우 거의 변화가 없었으며,N의 경우는 200ppm 이상의 농도에서 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. Mg의 경우는 150ppm까지는 함량의 변화가 없었지만 200ppm 이상의 처리구에서 급격한 함량증가를 나타내었다.~21.2ml가 흘러나와 배지의 공극이 일정하지 않아 시간당 통과하는 양이 일정하지 않았다고 생각되었다. $\bigcirc$ 펄라이트 : 합섬A(비스코스+레이온)급액천의 유입은 소(1$\times$60cm)에서 21.8ml, 중(2$\times$60cm) 33.5ml, 대(3$\times$60cm) 43.4ml가 통과되었고 합섬(폴리에스텔)에서는 19.0~30.7ml로서 급액천의 규격에 따라 통과되는 차이가 있었다. 배지가 규격화되어 있어 급액천의 규격별로 일정하게 유입되었으며 급액천의 재질이 유입에 영향을 미친 것으로 사료되었다. (2) 급액관과 베드상과의 높이에 따른 유출양 : 급액과 베드상과의 낙차가 클수록 유출이 증가함을 알수 있었으나 합섬C(인견)실험구에서는 낙차가 유출에 영향을 미치지 않았다. (4) 급액된 양액의 EC 및 pH조사 : 급액된 양액의 EC 및 pH에 전혀 변화가 없어 재배 적응에 문제가 없을것으로 사료되었다.이가 가장 이상적인 것으로 생각된다.세포수에 대한 내부세포괴세포(ICM/total cells)가 20~40% 범주에 드는 비율은 처리구가 대조구보다 낮은 결과를 나타냈다. 결론적으로 돼지난포란을 이용하여 체외성숙을 유기할 때 효과적인 cysteamine의 농도는 50$\mu$M이 적당하며, 초기배발달을 유기할 때의 효과적인 cysteamine의 농도는 25~50$\mu$M인 것으로 판단된다.N)A(N)/N을 제시하였다(A(N)=N에 대한 A값). 위의 실험식을 사용하여 헝가리산 Zempleni 시료(15%$S_{XRD}$)의 기본입자분포로부터 %$S_{XRD}$를 계산한

Treatment of Food Waste Leachate using Lab-scale Two-phase Anaerobic Digestion Systems (실험실 규모 2상 혐기성 소화를 이용한 음식물 쓰레기 탈리액의 처리)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the treatability of food waste leachate using lab-scale two-phase anaerobic digestion system. Effects of influent pH, hydraulic retention time (HRT), and recycle of methanogenic reactor effluent to the thermophilic acidogenic reactors were investigated. For methanogenic reactors, effects of internal solids recycle and temperature were studied. Performance of the acidogenic reactors was stable under the conditions of influent pH of 6.0 and HRT of 2 d with the recycle of methanogenic reactor effluent, and acidification and VS removal efficiency were about 30% and 40%, respectively. Up to the organic loading rate (OLR) of 7 g COD/L/d, effluent SCOD values of mesophilic and thermophilic methanogenic reactors either lower or kept the same with the internal solids recycle. Also, decreasing tendency in specific methane production (SMP) due to the organic loading increase became diminished with the internal solids recycle. Mesophilic methanogenic reactors showed higher TCOD removal efficiency and SMP than thermophilic condition under the same OLR as VSS was always higher under mesophilic condition. In sum, thermophilic acidogenesis-mesophilic methanogenesis system was found to be better than thermophilic-thermophilic system in terms of both organic removal and methane production.

Effect of Amino Acid, Polyamine, and Flavonoid on the Pollen Germination of Peach(Prunus persica SIEB under Low Temperature Conditions (아미노산, Polyamine 및 flavonoid 첨가가 복숭아 화분의 저온 발아에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this study was focused on the enhancement of pollen germination frequency in peach (Prunus $persica\;_{SIEB}$) under low temperature conditions. The effect of factors such as amino acid, polyamine, and flavonoid on the pollen germination was investigated, and the results are summarized as follows. When amino acid, polyamine or flavonoid was added to the germination medium at $10^{\circ}C$, pollen germination frequency was strongly promoted. Optimum concentration of each supplement for pollen germination enhancement was $100\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;H_3BO_3$, 10 mM asparagine, 10 mM glutamine, 100 mM spermine, $1000\;{\mu}M$ putrescine, and $1.0\;{\mu}M$ kaemferol. The best combination of factors in pollen germination was $100\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;H_3BO_3+10\;mM$ asparagine, followed by $100\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;H_3BO_310mM$ glutamine, $100\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;H_3BO_3+200mM$ spermine, and 10 mM asparagine. These combinations promoted pollen germination by 18% in 'Nagasawa-Hakuho', and 19% in 'Shuho' compared to their germination percentage on the basal medium.

A Study on Return Flow Ratio of Irrigation for a Paddy Field in Pumping Station by Water Balance Method (물수지분석 기법에 의한 양수장 몽리구역내 농업용수 회귀율 연구)

  • To investigate the return flow ratio of irrigation water, lots of observations were made during the irrigation periods in 2003 crop year. This Area is a portion of Dae-Am pumping station basin which is located in Changryung-gun, Gyeongnam province. A water balance analysis was performed for a paddy field in Dae-Am pumping station in the Nakdong river basin, which is constructed for irrigation water supply. Daily rainfall data in the this area were collected and irrigation water flow rate, drainage water flow rate, infiltration and evaportranspiration were measured in field area. Irrigation water flow rate and drainage water flow rate were continuously observed by water level logger(GTDL-L10) during the growing season. The infiltration and evaportranspiration were measured by cylindrical 300mm depletion meter and cylindrical 200mm infiltrometer, respectively. Total irrigation and drainage flows were 654.7mm and 281.2mm in 2003. Total infiltration and evaportranspiration were 36.0mm and 160.0mm respectively. The mean of the daily evaportranspiration rate was 4.3mmm/d. The prompt return flow and retard return flow ratio were 43.0% and 5.5%, respectively. Total return flow ratio was 48.5%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the amount of irrigation water was much higher than design standard or reference in this study. It means that this was caused by the inadequate water management practice in the area where water was oversupplied on farmers' request rather than following sound water management principles, and design standard should be changed in the future.

Preparation of fermented vinegars using mushroom mycelial cultures and characterization of their physicochemical properties (버섯 균사체를 이용한 발효 식초 제조 및 이화학적 특성)

  • This study was conducted to prepare healthy vinegars using the mycelia of various mushrooms (Cordyceps militaris, Phellinus baumi, Pleurotus cornucopiae, and Ganoderma lucidum). Analyses of the bioactive components of these vinegars revealed that those prepared using mushroom mycelial cultures on fermented brown rice had increased bioactive component levels compared to those cultured on unfermented brown rice. The highest beta-glucan contents (78.7 mg/g) were found in P. baumi cultures and 0.34mg/g of cordycepin was detected in C. militaris cultures. Regarding the chemical properties of these mushroom mycelia vinegars (MMVs), those prepared using C. militaris and P. cornucopiae cultures showed higher acidity and reduced sugar content. Sensory assessments of C. militaris and P. cornucopiae MMVs yielded scores of 7.3 and 6.6, respectively. Analyses of bioactive components revealed that C. militaris MMV contained high levels of polyphenols and 786 mg/L of cordycepin. P. cornucopiae MMV contained the highest amount of beta-glucan (20.9 mg/g).

Quality Changes of Apple Juice Concentrates with Different Storage Temperature (사과주스 농축품의 저장온도에 따른 품질 변화)

  • During storage of 45°Bx cloudy and 72°Bx clear apple juice concentrates for up to 16 weeks at 4$\^{C}$ , -3$\^{C}$ and -15$\^{C}$ respectively, the changes of viable microbial counts, physicochemical properties were investigated and the correlation between the physicochemical properties were determined. During storage for up to 16 weeks, any viable microbes were not found in 45°Bx cloudy apple juice concentrate stored at -3 and -15$\^{C}$ and in 72° Bx clear stored at all three temperature. There were little change in pH and tillable acidity except 45°Bx cloudy apple juice concentrate stored at -4$\^{C}$ . As longer storage time and higher storage temperature, was shown higher redness of color(a value) and alcohol soluble color(ASC) in common. Vitamin C contents were more rapid decreased proportionally to time and temperature of storage. The high correlation coefficients were shown of 0.957∼0.967 between redness and ASC and -0.936∼ -0.864 between redness and vitamin C contents of apple juice concentrate during storage.

Preparation and Characterization of Urushiol Free Fermented Rhus verniciflua Stem Bark (FRVSB) Extracts (Urushiol이 제거된 발효옻 추출물의 제조와 특성)

  • The water extract of the fermented $Rhus$ $verniciflua$ stem bark (FRVSB) was prepared by hot water extracting at $100^{\circ}C$ for 8 h. The urushiol content of the FRVSB water extract was determined by HPLC. The urushiol was not contained in FRVSB water extract, whereas $Rhus$ $verniciflua$ stem bark (RVSB) water extract contained 3.4 mg%. At the lab scale size, suitable water extraction condition for a total solid, polyphenol and flavonoid from FRVSB was at over $100^{\circ}C$ for 6-8 h. The total solid contents was reduced in pilot scale processing system, with 5.7% of the extraction yield. The proximate composition (%) of FRVSB water extract obtained from industrial installation was moisture 4.34, crude fat 1.69, crude protein 10.21, and crude ash 15.80. Gallic acid (1,090.5 mg%) was the most abundant compound in phenolic acids, while fisetin (135.7 mg%) was the predominant flavonoid. The free sugar content was mannitol of 3.48%, glycerol of 0.19%, and glucose of 0.19%. Alanine (244 ppm), serine (231 ppm), and leucine (218 ppm) were predominant amino acids.
