  • This paper is concerned with the CR-CMA (Coordinate Reduction-Constant Modulus Algorithm) adaptive equalization algorithm using the coordinate reduction in order to improve the convergence characteristic and residual intersymbol interference which are used as the performance index for an adaptive equalizer. The equalizer is used to reduce the distortion caused by the intersymbol interference on the wireless and the wired band-limited channel that connect the transmitting system and receiving system. The CMA is widely known as the representative algorithm for equalization. In order to transmitting the mass information with a high speed through the channels, a fast convergence speed in the equalizer performance that is able to minimize overhead needed for equalization is acquired. In this paper, we introduce the new cost function to reduce the constellation of received signal at the input stage of a equalizer. It reduce the error at the steady equalization state. By the computer simulation, we confirmed that the proposed CR-CMA algorithm has the faster convergence speed and the smaller residual intersymbole interference than the conventional CMA.

  • This paper relates with the performance improvement of CCA (Compact Constellation Algorithm) equalization algorithm by adding the adaptive step size control in order to the minimization of intersymbol interference and additive noise effects that is occurs in the channel for digital radio transmissionl. In general, the fixed step size was used in order to adaptation in equalizer algorithm. But in proposed algorithm, the variable step size were adapted that is proposional to the nonlinear function of error signal for equalization. In order to show the improved equalizatation performance, the output signal constellation of equalizer, residual isi, maximum distortion, MSE and SER were used, then it were compared with the present CCA algorithm. As a result of computer simulation, the adaptive step size CCA has more better performance in the every performance index compared to the fixed step size CCA after in the steay state.

  • This paper related with the ECMA (Enchanced CMA) algorithm performance which is possible to simultaneously compensation of the amplitude and phase by appling the minimum disturbance techniques in the CMA adatpve equalizer. The ECMA can improving the gradient noise amplification problem, stability and roburstness performance by the minimum disturbance technique that is the minimization of the equalizer tap weight variation in the point of squared euclidiean norm and the decision directed mode, and then the now cost function were proposed in order to simultaneouly compensation of amplitude and phase of the received signal with the minimum increment of computational operations. The performance of ECMA algorithm was compared to present MCMA by the computer simulation. For proving the performance, the recovered signal constellation that is the output of equalizer output signal and the residual isi and Maximum Distortion charateristic and MSE learning curve that are presents the convergence performance in the equalizer and the overall frequency transfer function of channel and equalizer were used. As a result of computer simulation, the ECMA has more better compensation capability of amplitude and phase in the recovered constellation, and the convergence time of adaptive equalization has improved compared to the MCMA.

  • This paper discusses the development of a acoustic vector channel simulator for the performance analysis of a acoustic digital communication system. The channel simulator consists of transmission module, acoustic channel model, receiver, beamformer, and adaptive equalizer. QPSK source signal is generated by the parameters specified by a user and transmitted. The transmitted signal generate multipath signals which have a different delay, amplitude, and dopper Sequency. The multipath signals with the acoustic noises is the received signal. We can analysis the communication system performance according to the antenna structure, beamforming algorithm, and equalization algorithm.

  • This paper proposes a Decision Feedback Equalizer (DFT) with an error feedback filter for blind channel equalization. The proposed equalizer uses Least Mean Square(LMS) Algorithm and Multi-Modulus Algorithm (MMA), and has been designed for 64/256 QAM constellations. The existing MMA equalizer uses either two transversal filters or feedforward and feedback filers, while the proposed equalizer uses feedforward, feedback and error feedback filters to improve the channel adaptive performance and to reduce the number of taps. The proposed equalizer has been simulated using the $SPW^{TM}$ tool and it shows performance improvement. It has been modeled by VHDL and logic synthesis has been performed using the $0.25\;\mu m$ Faraday CMOS standard cell library. The total number of gates is about 190,000 gates. The proposed equalizer operates at 15 MHz. In addition, FPGA vertification has been performed using FPGA emulation board.

  • This paper compares the SE-MMA (Signed Error-MMA) and QE-MMA (Quantized Error-MMA) adaptive equalization algorithm in order to compensates the intersymbol interference due to channel in the transmission of spectral efficient nonconstant modulus signal such as 16-QAM. In the currently MMA adaptive equalizer, the error signal is needed for the updating the tap coefficient. The SE-MMA uses the polarity of error signal for reduce the computational operation in that process, the QE-MMA consider the this polarity and finite bit power-of-2 quantized component in that process, so they has different equalization performance. In order to comparing these performance, the computer simulation was performed in the same channel and environment, the output signal constellation of equalizer, residual isi and maximum distortion, MSE, SER were applied. As a result of computer simulation, the QE-MMA have more superior performance than the SE-MMA in every performance index.

  • In this paper, a blind adaptation method for a decision feedback equalizer (DFE) is proposed to deal with nominimum phase channels. This equalizer is composed of a linear transversal filter and a prediction error filter which are trained separately using constant modulus and decision feedback prediction algorithms, respectively, during the learnign time. The proposed algorithm guaranetees the DFE to converge to a suboptimal point on the condition that a linear transversal of the proposed scheme is illustrated and the performance is compared with conventional blind equlization algorithms.
