Analysis of biodiesel quality based on infrared spectroscopy and multivariate statistics (적외선 분광분석과 다변량 통계에 기반한 바이오디젤 품질분석)

  • ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) D6751-10 suggests analytical methods as well as specifications for biodiesel quality. However, it is expensive and time-consuming to follow the ASTM testing methods to analyze biodiesel and various impurities. This paper develops a quantitative analysis system for biodiesel and impurities based on Infrared spectroscopy and a multivariate statistical method, PLS (partial least squares). In addition, four different pre-processing techniques were compared for spectrum correction and noise reduction. Savitzky-Golay pre-processing showed the best performance.

  • To examine the solution structure of electrolytes, it is very important to understand ion-ion and ion-solvent interactions. In this review, we introduce the basic principle of dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS) and studies of electrolyte structure. DRS is a type of impedance method, which measures the dielectric properties of electrolytes over a high frequency domain at levels of tens of GHz. Therefore, DRS provides information on the different polar chemical species present in the electrolyte, including the type and concentration of free solvents and ion pairs with dipole moments. The information of DRS is complementary to the information of conventional analytical techniques (Infrared/Raman spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), etc.) and thus enables a broad understanding of electrolyte structure.

  • 반도체 소자의 소형화로 신개념 화학증착공정 구현을 위한 장비와 화학증착소재의 개발이 활발이 연구되고 있다. 특히 증착소재의 물리적 화학적 특성을 파악하고 가장 적합한 소재를 선택하기 위한 연구도 변행되고 있다. 많은 연구자들이 소재 평가를 위해 가스크로마토그래피, 질량분석기, 적외선 분광기 등을 이용한 화학증착소재의 특성을 파악하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 하지만 실제 화학기상증착(Chemical Vapor Deposition)법과 원자층증착(Atomic Layer Deposition)법 공정에서 웨이퍼 표면에서의 화학증착소재의 흡착거동에 대한 연구는 거의 전무한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 개선된 Attenuated Total Reflectance(ATR)분광계를 이용하여 표면에 흡착된 소재의 흡착거동에 대해 분석을 수행하였다. 평가에 사용된 화학증착소재는 C-Zr (Tris (dimethylamino) cyclopentadienyl zirconium)이며, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT- IR)시스템 내에 설치된 ATR 분광계 표면에 흡착된 C-Zr 증착소재를 다양한 공정조건(온도 및 반응가스, 플라즈마 파워 등)에서의 거동 변화를 연구하였다.

Extraction Equilibria of Acrylic Acid with Amine Extractants (아민계 추출제에 의한 아크릴산의 추출 평형)

  • Acrylic acid is a commodity chemical which is applicable for various industries such as polymer and textile industry. Currently, it has been produced by chemical synthesis from petroleum. However, due to the high price of petroleum and global $CO_2$ emission, renewable materials such as sugar are interesting alternative carbon sources for the biological production of acrylic acid. For an economic production of acrylic acid from renewable carbon sources, a cost effective separation process for acrylic acid should be needed. In this study, reactive extraction by TOA (tri-n-octylamine) was used for the recovery of acrylic acid from its aqueous solutions. The effects of polarity of diluents and concentration of TOA on extraction equilibrium were investigated. The extraction efficiency was proportional to concentration of TOA and polarity of diluents and its value was more than 95% in the case of sufficient concentration of TOA. From IR spectroscopy, it was concluded that the ratio of (1,1) acid-amine complex was increased and the ratio of acid dimer was decreased with concentration of TOA. Equilibrium model based on IR spectroscopy was well fitted with experimental data.

  • When the fire occurred in building, the fire-resistance-structure has to be constructed to prevent collapse of building and to have a time for evacuation of peoples. because of the features of the fireresistance test is similar with real scale, there is no way to confirm quality of fire-resistive-structure in building construction site. Therefore the purpose of this study, a study by spectroscopic analysis using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR), is to suggest of useful and scientific testing-methods in building construction site by identification-analysis-study for fire resistive paint.

Fundamental Investigation of Non-invasive Determination of Alcohol in Blood by Near Infrared Spectrophotometry (근적외선 분광분석법을 이용한 음주측정기술 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Near infrared spectrophotometry(NIR) was developed as a non-invasive determination of blood alcohol. The first pure alcohol/water samples were prepared with ethanol concentration from 0.01 to 0.1%(w/w). Analysis of the second-derivative data was accomplished with multilinear regression(MLR). The standard error of calibration(SEC) of ethanol in ethanol/water solutions was approximately 0.0039%. The calibration models were established from the blood alcohol spectra by MLR and PLSR analysis. The best calibration was built with the second-derivative spectra of 2266 and 2326 nm by MLR. Second-derivative spectra in the spectral ranges of 1100~1340, 1500~1796 and 2064~2300 nm with four PLSR factors provided the standard error of prediction(SEP) of 0.030%(w/w). These results indicate that NIR may be applied for a fast non-invasive determination of alcohol in the blood.

  • Free fatty acid and total saponin, which were extracted from the spent media and colony of the strain Phizopus delemar Rh-1, were qualitatively examined by GLC and spectroscopic methods and compared with these of intact ginseng media. The 18, 18, and 14 free fatty acids were respectively identified from the control, spent media and colony. Among them, $iC_{12:0},\;C_{16:2},\;C_{17:0},\;C_{18:3}\; and\;C_{20:0}$ acids were not detectable from the colony. In add ition, $C_{16:2}\;and\;C_{20:0}$ peaks were rot found in the spent media and control, respectively. The isible absorption spectra of free fatty acids and total saponins in the control, spent media and colony were invariable. In contrast, however, the infrared and ultraviolet absorption spectra showed significant spectral variations, particularly in the it finger-print region, demonstrating that the ginseng components were considerably utilized by the strain Rhizopus delemar Rh-1.

  • 고주파 스퍼터링 방법에 의하여 상온에서 Si(100)기판 위에 AIN막을 형성하였다. 기판의 온도, 고주파 출력, 스퍼터링 시간, 질소의 비율을 변화인자로 해서 각 조건하에서 제작된 AIN의 결정질을 X선 회절법, 적외선 분광법, 전자현미경으로 상호비교 하였다. 자외선 투과법에 의해, 제작된 AIN 막의 금지대 폭은 4.27eV 이었다. 질소 비율에 따른 AIN 막두께의 변화는 질소비율 40∼60%에서 급격하게 일어났다.

  • 본 논문은 당뇨병의 지표 물질인 glucose의 농도를 극미량의 시료를 사용하여 정량할 수 있는 방법을 개발하기 위해 organic/inorganic 네트웍에 의해 안정화된 나노입자 효소를 이용하여 초소형 효소 전극을 개발하였다. 전극은 실리콘 웨이퍼상에 반도체 공정을 이용하여 마이크로 크기의 금 박막 전극을 제작하였다, Organic/Inorganic 물질과 함께 합성된 glucose oxidase 나노입자는 20nm 크기로 투과형 전자현미경 (Transmission Electron Microscope:TEM)으로 관찰하고, 푸리에변환 적외선분광법(Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer : FTIR) 을 이용하여 분석하였고, 전극 특성을 알아보기 위해 Potentiostat/Galvanostat을 사용하여 전기 화학 실험을 하였다. 제작된 전극은 시간대 전류법으로 glucose의 농도에 따른 감도를 측정하였다. 실험결과에 따라 전극의 표면에서 발생하는 전류는 glucose의 농도에 비례함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 순환 전압전류법을 통하여 감도를 측정하였다.

  • The structure of poly-$\beta$-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) in Chlorogloea fritschii was analyzed by FT-IR spectrometry under various conditions (phosphate starves or sufficient conditions). They exhibited characteristic absorption peaks for PHB, such as C=O stretching band at 1700-1800 $cm^-1$and C-H stretching bands at about 2900 $cm^-1$, however, the intensity of C-H stretching peaks, relative to the rest of the spectrum was increased under phosphate starved condition, which suggests that C. fritschii might produce another modified PHB polymer under phosphate starved condition.
