Development and Application of AI Education Program for Image Recognition for Low Grade Elementary School Students (초등학교 저학년을 위한 이미지 인식 이해 AI 교육 프로그램 개발 및 적용)

  • With the development of artificial intelligence, society is moving toward another world that has never existed before. As a result, interest in artificial intelligence education is also increasing, and research on artificial intelligence education is being conducted more actively in Korea. However, many studies have been conducted focusing on the upper grades of elementary school, and curriculum and programs for the lower grades are still insufficient. Therefore, in this study, a total of 6 sessions of artificial intelligence programs were developed to understand image recognition for the lower grades of elementary school. The validity was secured by conducting expert validity for 8 experts, and the effectiveness was verified through the pre-post-response sample t-test by applying it to the experimental group. As a result, both artificial intelligence understanding and artificial intelligence attitude showed statistically significant results, and both the interest and difficulty of educational programs were found to be suitable for lower grade students. Based on the contents of this study, it is necessary to review its application and effectiveness in various environments through follow-up studies in the future.

  • With the development of artificial intelligence, society is moving to a different world. As a result, amid growing interest in artificial intelligence education, research on how to teach artificial intelligence is also being conducted more actively in Korea. However, a lot of research is being conducted around the upper grades of elementary school, and curriculum and programs for the lower grades are insufficient. Therefore, this study developed an artificial intelligence program for lower grades. Among them, it was developed focusing on artificial intelligence image recognition. It compares image recognition methods of people, animals, and computers, identifies the characteristics of fallen leaves, and helps them understand the image recognition process of artificial intelligence by classifying them according to the characteristics of fallen leaves. I hope this program will help elementary school students understand the image recognition principle of artificial intelligence in the future.

  • The need for artificial intelligence education has emerged, and countries around the world are announcing artificial intelligence strategies. Artificial intelligence education is reflected in the main points of the 2022 revised curriculum general published in Korea. Along with this interest, programs related to artificial intelligence education are being developed, but it is difficult to find artificial intelligence programs for lower grades of elementary school. This study aims to develop a data collection education program for the lower grades of elementary school through a series of analysis-design-development-application-evaluation processes and apply it to first-grade elementary school students to verify its effectiveness. Through the developed program, it is expected that students will be able to understand and feel interested in artificial intelligence, and develop an attitude of collecting data in their daily lives through the process of searching for various types of data in their daily lives.

  • 최근 들어 정보윤리의 폐해로 인한 법적인 대응이나 기술적인 대응들이 한계에 부딪치면서 보다 교육적인 대응이 강조되고 있다. 특히나 인터넷 게임 중독이 갈수록 저 연령화되어 가고 있는 시점에서 초등학교 저학년들을 위한 인터넷 게임 중독 진단과 그에 따른 처방을 제공하는 콘텐츠가 필요해졌다. 본 논문의 초등학교 저학년을 대상으로 한 인터넷 게임 중독 콘텐츠가 의도대로 활용된다면 정보화 사회를 살아가는 사회 구성으로서 갖추어야 할 올바른 가치관과 행동양식을 심어주게 될 것이다.

  • 영재교육은 영재들이 창의적인 지식 생산자로서의 역할을 수행할 수 있도록 하여 개인의 잠재력을 최대한 계발시켜주어 자아실현을 도모할 수 있도록 해주고 더 나아가 국가 경쟁력을 높일 수 있으므로 학교와 지역사회에서는 영재교육의 활성화를 위하여 다양한 영재교육 프로그램을 개발하고, 영재에게 적합한 교수-학습 자료를 마련하여 그들의 흥미와 빠른 학습 속도를 충족시켜줄 수 있도록 심화된 학습 기회를 제공하기 위해 노력해야 한다. 그러나, 이미 연구된 자료들을 살펴보면 초등학교 고학년을 위주로 하는 영재 교육 프로그램이 대부분이어서 저학년 영재아동을 위한 자료는 전무한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 초등학교 저학년 단계에서 수학분야에 영재성이 있거나 흥미를 가지고 있는 아동을 위한 수학 심화학습 프로그램을 개발하고자 한다.

  • 본 연구에서는 프로그램을 전혀 해보지 않았고, 게임에는 관심 있는 초등학교 저학년을 대상으로 EPL 도구로서 스크래치를 이용한 SW교육의 교수 학습 모형을 개발하였다. 5단계 10차시로 분류하여 각 단계별 학습목표를 설정하고 교수 학습 목표를 결정하였다. 학습목표에 맞게 각 단계별 수업이 이루어지면 목표에 도달할 수 있도록 반복수업, 흥미 있는 수업, 이해도가 증가할 수 있도록 단계별 수업으로 구성하였다. 또한 SW교육 교수 학습 모형에서 각 차시별 목표를 설정하고 단계별 교수 학습 전략을 제공하여 목표에 도달할 수 있도록 유도하였다. 본 연구를 통해 초등학교 저학년에게 SW교육이 가능한지, 어느 정도 수준의 교육으로 이루어져야 하는 지, EPL 도구로서의 스크래치의 활용성은 어느 정도인지 등을 알아보고 SW교육에 수업자료로 활용하고자 한다.

The Effect of REBT Reading Therapy Program on Peer Relationships in Lower Elementary School Students (REBT 독서치료 프로그램이 초등 저학년 아동의 인지•정서•행동 및 또래 관계에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigated the impact of reading therapy programs(classes) on the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and peer relationships of children in the lower grades of elementary school. The study was conducted at the B Public Library in A Metropolitan City, Korea. Eight elementary school students participated in the REBT reading therapy program for 12 sessions, each lasting 120 minutes, every Saturday. The research method was qualitative, and an observer was appointed to verify the qualitative research. The observer and the researcher qualitatively analyzed the participant's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral observation diaries and pre- and post-person-picture tests for each session. As a result of the study, the REBT reading therapy program was found to have a positive impact on the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral changes and formation of peer relationships of the children. The results of the study show the need for children and youth institutions, including public libraries, to develop and operate reading therapy programs for various groups.

A Study of the Development of Children's Multiplication Strategies and the Computational Resources (초등학교 저학년 학생의 곱셈 전략 발달에 관한 연구)

  • To acquire the hints of the development of children's multiplication strategies, this study tried to find the differences between the students who learned multiplication and the students who didn't. And we also tried to explore their acquired computational resources. As a result, we confirm that there is a certain direction on the development of children's multiplication strategies according to their grades and the level of acquirement of mathematical knowledge. Moreover, we comprehend that commutative law is an important part of the strategies on two-digit multiplication and that acquisition of the computational resources must precede the learning of multiplication strategies. In the end part, this article proposes a new taxonomy of strategies for multiplication. To support our proposal, we integrated the prior researches with our findings.

  • The purpose of this study was to exam the Influence of a disability-awareness program at creativity innovation development activities and early morning classes on elementary school students' perception and attitudes toward students with disabilities in Kyunggi-do and Inchon. A total of 28 3rd grade students and 32 5rd without disabilities in the one classrooms of elementary school were selected. Differences in results were analyzed by t-test. There was a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test in the disability awareness and acceptance attitude. Based on theses results, the researcher suggested some ideas about how improve students' disability-awareness and acceptance attitude toward disabilities and develop the better inclusive environment.

Application and Analysis of Students' Responses to Utilize 'Science TV' in Science Communication Activities at Early Morning Classes on Elementary School Students (초등학교 아침활동시간에 '사이언스 TV'를 활용한 과학 커뮤니케이션 활동 적용 및 학생들의 반응분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to utilize science TV program 'Science TV' among science communication that plays important role in the popularization of science as science communication materials. I apply it at early morning classes on elementary school students and analysis the responses of students to science communication activity. In order to achieve this goal, the review on preliminary studies and relevant documents were carried out and program called 'The aroma of science encountered in the forest of science' as the contents of daily life-centered theme that can be easily understood by students in elementary school was selected. Moreover, themes of total 15 episodes were determined by analyzing their contents. The materials were applied to science communication activity targeting 1 class with 21 students in second grade of elementary school. The survey on the responses toward the activity was conducted after the activity. The result of analyzing the survey, students displayed positive response toward science communication activity utilizing 'Science TV'. The result of the activity analysis and survey analysis after the activity displayed that students passionately participated in science communication activity utilizing 'Science TV' in early morning classes on elementary school. Also, students displayed positive response toward science communication activity utilizing 'Science TV' such as the increase in the understanding of science, and others.
