Development of BIFS Contents Authoring System for T-DMB Interactive Data Service (지상파 DMB 대화형 서비스를 위한 BIFS 콘텐츠 저작 시스템 구현)

  • This paper introduces an interactive contents authoring system which can easily and conveniently produce interactive contents for the Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (T-DMB). For interactive broadcasting service, T-DMB adopted MPEG-4 BIFS technology. In order to the interactive service becomes flourishing on the market, various types of interactive contents should be well provided prior to the service. In MPEG-4 BIFS, broadcasting contents are described by the combination of a large number of nodes, routes and descriptors. In order to provide interactive data services through the T-DMB network, it is essential to have an interactive contents authoring system which allows contents authors to compose interactive contents easily and conveniently even if they lack any background on MPEG-4 BIFS technology. The introduced authoring system provides powerful graphical user Interface and produces interactive broadcasting contents in the forms of binary and textual format. Therefore, the BIFS contents authoring system presented in this paper would vastly contribute to the flourishing interactive service.

  • In this paper, we implemented an authoring system in which it's easy and flexible for user to author multimedia documents. It can be characterized by the following properties. First, it provides a visual interface for easy multimedia authorings and presentations and defines a causal relation that can manage changes of media duration. Second, it provides an internal representation using tree and thus supports an effective document parsing. It also supports a presentation engine for effective presentations and user interactions in run-time.

  • 본 논문에서는 쉽고 융통성 있는 저작 시스템 개발을 목표로 다음과 같은 특징을 갖는 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 첫째, 사용자가 멀티미디어 문서를 쉽게 저작하고 프리젠테이션 할 수 있는 시각 환경을 제공한다. 둘째, 실행중에 발생되는 미디어 실행시간 변경을 효과적으로 처리할 수 있는 인과성 시간 관계를 정의한다. 셋째, 저작 내용을 트리 형태의 내부 구조로 저장함으로써 효과적인 문서 파싱을 수행한다. 네째, 실행 시간의 효과적인 프리젠테이션과 사용자 상호 작용을 지원하기 위한 프리젠테이션 엔진을 개발한다. 본 시스템은 미디어간의 시간 관계를 인과성 관계에 기초하고 참조점 방식을 추가하여 정의함으로서, 수행시간이 변경되거나 사용자 상호 작용이 발생하더라도 융통성있는 프리젠테이션을 지원한다.

  • MPEG-4 is an international standard for interactive multimedia data that is used for next generation audio-visual service. It presents an two types of storage formal such as XMT (eXtensible MPEG-4 Textual fount) and MP4 file format D store the interactive multimedia contents. The XMT, a textual format, has advantage of readability and it can be used in many applications since designed based on the XML In this paper, we present the way how to author the MPEG-4 contents using XMT.

A Development of Game Scenario Authoring Tool (게임 시나리오 저작도구의 개발)

  • Game scenarios are playing more important role as much as games are getting more sophisticated and expanded in their applications. However, general-purpose tools for production of game scenarios are still not developed. There are similar tools for the production of films or dramas and simple tools for the development of UCG. However, analysis about them shows that they are not suitable for the production of game scenarios. In this paper, we are to develop game scenario authoring tool called 'UMa' suitable for game production and easy to use. UMa is composed of synopsis entry, quest entry, DB entry, communication, display, and control component. Since UMa provides templates to make synopsis, quest, and DB, users can produce them very easily. Especially, characters and items DB are stored independently so that they may be reused to the production of scenarios for follow-up or another game. Using UMa, users can write game scenarios more easily and quickly and cooperate with each other at the same time by Web.

  • The contents of remote lectures are written by authoring tools or animation tools. Written contents then integrate existing medias, and are stored in a file type, which is added to the lecturing activities of lecturers. These files are stored according to the kinds of each authoring tool. So, there is no interchangeability and the efficiency of each media is not so good. Due to these structural features, it is not possible to do streaming lectures in on-line environments. In this study, a technique was suggested, which guarantees the interchangeability of remote lecturing contents using SMIL which is a synchronizing multimedia language. The suggested technique is an extended type of SMIL, and includes tags to represent the lectures of tutors which are the specific feature of remote lectures. Additionally, a model, which does streaming SMIL remote lecture contents through on-line, and which transfers control techniques are suggested. The remote lecture contents established by the proposed method can be applied to all authoring tools for remote lectures just by installing conversion modules, and can be a kind of expression model of the synchronizing model for streaming service in on-line environment.

  • 최근 사용자에게 단순히 체험을 제공하는 것을 넘어서 같은 내용의 체험을 제공하더라도 더욱 실감있는 체험을 제공하기 위한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 사용자에게 시각적으로 현존감 있는 체험을 제공하기 위한 유사 홀로그램(hologram-like)시스템은 고전적인 디스플레이 방식에 빛의 간섭현상을 더해 투영되는 물체가 실제 현장에 존재하는 것과 같은 효과를 준다. 이러한 유사홀로그램 시스템은 공연, 전시, 교육 등 다양한 서비스 분야에 널리 확대가 가능한 차세대 디스플레이 시스템이다. 유사홀로그램 시스템을 구성하는 방법은 피라미드, 반투명 대형 단일 스크린 등 다양한 형태의 H/W 구성 특성에 따라 다양한 형태로 제작이 가능하지만 시스템 내부에 콘텐츠를 표현할 때 마다 H/W 구성 특성에 맞춰 콘텐츠를 매번 재구성해야 하는 번거로움이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 형태의 H/W 구성을 가질 수 있는 유사홀로그램 시스템에 표현되는 콘텐츠 구성을 자동적으로 보정하여 다양한 종류의 유사홀로그램 시스템 H/W 를 사용하여도 콘텐츠를 변형없이 적용할 수 있는 저작도구 설계를 제안한다.

Mutimedia Mail Authoring System Providing Message Integration (메시지 통합성을 제공하는 멀티미디어 메일 저작 시스템)

  • E-mail system has been widely used for information transmission. As multimedia technologies are developed, many Internet services support multimedia. E-mail system only transmits 7bit ASCII data using simple mail transfer protocol(SMTP) specified in RFC 821. E-mail system can't support the authoring and the transmission of multimedia data. In this study multimedia mail authoring system has been designed and implemented in order to provide message integration. Multimedia messages can be authored and transformed into text types with this system. Transformed messages are transmitted from sender's mail transfer agent (MTA) to receiver's MTA by means of SMTP. Messages can be authored in hypertext markup language (HTML) including text, image, audio and video. This system provides integrated messages which consist or various media. BASE64 Encoding method is used in order to transform multimedia messages into text types. Received mails are managed by multimedia user agent (MUA) which is proposed in this study. Convenience for user is improved in this system.
