  • 동물성사료는 가축의 도살과 축산물의 부위선별 작업과정에서 식용으로 사용되지 않은 것(동물성잔재물)을 랜더링 처리하면 동물성단백질사료로서 전환이 가능하여 사료원료로 이용되어 왔다. 그러나 최근 동물성잔재물을 이용한 재활용 물질인 육골분을 소에 급여하여 소해면상뇌증(BSE)과 관련성으로 영국 및 유럽 등 여러 국가에서 반추가축에 급여중단 등 가축의 사료로서 이용이 크게 제한되어 있을 뿐만 아니라 특정의 동물성잔재물은 재활용을 금지하고, 소각 후 매립하고 있다. (중략)

Economic Analysis and CO2 Emissions Analysis by Circulating the Industrial Waste Resource between Companies (국내 기업들의 폐기물자원 순환에 따른 탄소배출량 및 경제성 분석)

  • These days many companies are trying to reduce, recycle and reuse their wastes. Even though many wastes can be recycled, those are incinerated or landfilled. To solve these problems, there are many projects to make efforts to recycle wastes in especially the industrial complexes. But, due to the absence of information about waste recycling, recyclable wastes are still incinerated or landfilled. Based on these research background, this study aims to suggest the evaluation methodology of the $CO_2$ emissions and cost reduced by circulating the industrial waste to resource. We evaluated the environmental and economic effect between companies which emit the plastic waste and organic solvent waste and use them as raw-materials in the off-line recycling information exchange network. The environmental and economic aspects were analyzed comparing waste recycling with waste incineration. By recycling the plastic waste as raw-materials, $CO_2$ emission were reduced 1,070 ton in 2009 and 1,234 ton in 2010 and 657.4 million won in 2009 and 755.0 million won in 2010 were reduced. In recycling the organic solvent waste, 7.3 ton-$CO_2$ in 2010 and 5.6 ton-$CO_2$ in 2011 were reduced and 15.9 million won in 2010 and 12.2 million won in 2011 were reduced.

A Study on the Environment Assessment of Waste Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) by LCA (LCA기법을 이용한 PET의 환경성평가에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, life cycle assessment(LCA) technique was employed to evaluate the environmental impact of material recycling of polyethylene terephthalate(PET) bottle. Life cycle inventory was established based on the data collected from recycling companies in Korea. Simapro 5.0 LCA software and Eco-indicator 95 index were used for the analysis. The biggest impact by the material recycling of PET bottle on the environmental category was the global warming. It is because melting and production of the recycled PET product consume a significant amount of electricity and energy. In the environmental pollution discharge, $CO_2$ emission was the highest, followed by NOx. This is probably due to the use of diesel and gasoline in the consumption of electricity and transportation. All the environmental impact showed (-) value except the ozone layer depletion, which means that the material recycling of PET bottle is environmentally fair. The use of recycled PET product greatly reduced the environmental impact.

  • Approximately 8.5 million tons of fly ash and 740,000 tons of briquette ash were produced in 2010. Inefficient recycling of coal ash has been a heavy economic and environmental burden and economical coal ash utilization technologies are required to turn coal ash into valuable resources. In this study the patents and literature were analyzed to understand the present situation of coal ash recycling technologies and to promote utilization of coal ash for producing a non-sintering green cement, geopolymer. The survey was based on the open patents of USA, European Union, Japan and Korea, and the papers in SCI - indexed journals published between 1979 and 2013. Technical key words were used for data collection and noise filtering. Trends of recycling technologies in utilization of coal ash for producing geopolymers were discussed in terms of time periods, countries, companies and various forms of technologies.

  • In this study, generation process and properties of inorganic industrial waste which can be used in cement industry were investigated. The scheme of recycling to use the selected waste as raw materials, mineralizer and flux, admixture and raw materials for special cement was decided and then various experiments were carried out. The experimental results were as follows ; In the use of industrial waste as raw materials, ferrous materials could be substituted by Cu-slag, Zn-slag, electric arc furnace or convertor furnace slag etc., and a siliceous material could be substituted by sand from cast-iron industry. By-products from sugar or fertilizer industry, which has $CaF_2$ as the main component, and jarosite from Zn refinery enabled clinker phases to be formed at lower temperature by $100{\sim}150^{\circ}C$. Adding Cu slag and STS sludge in proper proportion to cement improved properties of cement. Fly ash and limestone powder as admixture had the same effect on cement. As a raw material for special cement, aluminium waste sludge could be used in making ultra early strength cement, which had the compressive strength of $300kg/cm^2$ within 2hours. And two different ashes from municipal incinerator could be raw materials of the cement which was mainly composed of $C_3S$ and $C_{11}A_7{\cdot}CaCl_2$ as clinker phases.

  • 2013년 국내 시설(비닐, 유리 온실)에서 재배되는 토마토, 풋고추, 파프리카의 생산량은 총 632,315 톤으로 잎, 줄기 등 발생되는 부산물은 수확량의 약 30%에 해당되는 189,695 톤으로 추정되며 대부분 노지에 방치 유실되거나, 소각 처리된다. 본 연구에서는 이처럼 단순 폐기되는 농업폐기물을 재활용한 고형연료 제조에 필요한 건조장치를 개발하고 실험을 통해 그 성능을 확인하고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 건조용량 100 kg/hr인 실험실용 건조기를 제작하였다. 경상남도 진주시 농업기술원 온실에서 재배되는 파프리카, 토마토, 딸기, 가지, 고추 등의 부산물을 실험원료로 사용하였다. 원료성상, 원료이송방식, 송풍량, 건조온도, 건조시간에 따른 부산물 건조특성을 파악하였다. 원료를 비교적 짧게 절단하고 열풍이 배출되는 다공판위를 견인형 컨베어로 이송시키는 형태의 경우 건조실험 결과 세절된 원료에서 추출된 내부 수분이 외부로 유출되어 원료들 사이의 공극을 채워 건조공기가 원료층을 통과하지 못하게 하고, 특히 $100^{\circ}C$ 이상 고온에 노출되는 경우 원료표면에 잔류하는 유출 수분이 건조되면서 막을 형성하여 내부 원료들은 전혀 건조가 되지 못하는 현상이 관측되었다. 이러한 원료내부의 공극형성 불량으로 국부적으로 공기가 통과되는 부분만 집중적으로 급격한 건조가 진행되고 공급된 건조공기 대부분이 이 부분으로 유출되어 효과적인 건조가 전혀 진행되지 못하였다. 피건조물 사이의 공극형성을 위해 원료를 절단하지 않고 수행한 건조실험 결과 건조 풍량 및 온도에 따라 건조속도 및 처리용량이 다르게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다. 특히 송풍량과 압력을 증가 시킨 건조 결과로 건조 상하층 간 불균일 건조 해소 및 건조속도, 건조능력에서 연구목표 치를 상회하는 결과를 보여준다. 특히 건조공기온도 $150^{\circ}C$ 이하에서 풍량을 증가시켜서 원하는 건조작업 수행이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.

Analysis of the Effects of Recycling and Reuse of Used Electric Vehicle Batteries in Korea (한국의 전기차 사용 후 배터리 재활용 및 재사용 효과 분석 연구)

  • According to the IEA (2022), global rechargeable battery demand is expected to reach 1.3 TWh in 2040. EV batteries will account for about 80% of this demand, and used EV batteries are expected to be discharged after 30 years. Used EV batteries can be recycled and reused to create new value. They can also resolve one of the most vulnerable parts of the battery supply chain: raw material insecurity. In this study, we analyzed the amount of used batteries generated by EV in Korea and their potential for reuse and recycling. As a result, it was estimated that the annual generation of used batteries for EV began to increase to more than 100,000 in '31 and expanded to 810,000 in '45. In addition, it was found that the market for recycling EV batteries in '45 could be expected to be equivalent to the production of 1 million batteries, and the market for reuse could be expected to be equivalent to the production of 36 Gwh of batteries. On the other hand, according to the plan standard disclosed by the recycling company, domestic used EV batteries can account for 11% of the domestic recycling processing capacity (pre-treatment) ('30). So it will be important to manage the import and export of used batteries in terms of securing raw materials.

The Study of Silk Selvedge Recycle (실크샐비지 재활용에 관한 연구)

  • 실크제품 생산 공정에서 발생하는 셀베지는 실크직물 생산량의 약 10% 정도 발생하지만 비용절감을 위해서 경사에 실크외의 합성섬유를 사용함으로써 효과적인 회수기술이 없어 전량 폐기되고 있어 이를 효과적으로 재활용할 수 있는 맞춤형 셀베지 분리기계 및 분리 system을 개발하고 방적사의 원료로 재활용하여 신규 수요를 창출할 수 있는 고효율 회수장치 개발 및 방적사, 부직포 제조기술을 개발 하고자 한다. 경위사분리기의 기본 구성을 보면 제직현장에서 레피어 직기는 원단의 좌우측에서 절단된 셀비지를 한데 모아 두겹으로 배출하기 때문에 수거된 셀비지를 하나씩 분리하여 연속작업이 가능하게 권취하였고, 마찰에 의한 정전기를 막기 위해 물에 적신 후 가압롤러로 경사에 장력을 부여함과 동시에 물기를 제거하며, 경사를 충분히 벌려주면서 회전날에 의한 진동으로 위사를 경사와 분리시키면서 수직방향으로 낙하하도록 하였다. 경사의 권취속도와 회전날의 속도를 조절할 수 있도록 하여 기계분리 능력을 올릴 수 있도록 하였다.
