Traffic Management Scheme for Supporting QoS of VBR/ABR Services in ATM Switching Systems (ATM 스위칭 시스템의 VBR/ABR 서비스 품질 지원을 위한 트랙픽 관리 기법)

  • This paper presents a real-time integrated traffic management (RITM) scheme that can effectively manage variable bit rate (VBR) and available bit rate (ABR) traffics having unpredictable characteristics in asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks. An unique feature of this scheme is that it has a special ATM cell control block which makes it possible to monitor bursty traffics in real-time so that the delay incurred to measure cell arrival rate is minimized. Additionally, the proposed scheme intends to dynamically reassign the leftover network resources to VBR/ABR connections without any deterioration in quality of service (QoS) of the existing connections. The RITM scheme has been verified to reliably monitor incoming traffics and to efficiently manage network resources by computer simulations. The capability of managing the incoming ATM traffics in real-time helps determine an optimal acceptable number of user connections for a given network condition. We can use this value as a threshold to protect the network from being congested and to find out a cost-effective buffer design method.

  • In this paper, a new magnetic position sensing mettled for autonomous vehicle and robot guidance is presented. In autonomous vehicle and robot control, position sensing is an important task for the identification of their locations, such as the current position within a trajectory. The magnet based autonomous vehicle and robot was identified position via magnetic materials. In the magnetic sensing system, the Earth field is one of the largest disturbance. To removal of the Earth field, this paper proposes 1-dimensional magnetic field sensors array and develops precise petition sensing system using linear operating region of the magnetic field sensor. This proposal is verified a feasible magnetic position sensing system for autonomous vehicle and robot guidance by the experimental results.

  • Flexible structure uses a material with strong axial stiffness and small bending stiffness as its major structural material so it is very sensitive to initial stiffness. Therefore, the self-formation process which accomplishes a form in the natural world is grasped and it is as well investigated and classified the type of modeling techniques which are available to find the shapes of soft structures. Accordingly, for analysis and design of flexible structure, three-step analysis such as shape analysis, stress-deformation analysis, cutting pattern generation and constructional analysis is required unlike the existing stiff structure. In this study, suggest that minimize the error of side curvatures by the triangle Re-mesh pattern and draw the cutting pattern generation.

Frequency-Scanning Type Microwave Tag System Using Defected Ground Structures (결함 접지 구조를 이용한 주파수 스캐닝 방식의 마이크로파 태그 시스템)

  • In this paper, a microwave tag system of a frequency-scanning type is proposed with multi-resonators using defected ground structures. While a conventional chip-based RFID stores time-sequential codes, the proposed type achieves pure passive tags by using multi-resonant bits over a frequency range. Moreover, the resonators of the spiral defected ground structures implemented on the back side of transmission lines have advantages of the excellent bandstop characteristics as well as the bit-error avoidance by the re-radiation on normal resonators. The proposed microwave tag is designed with UWB antennas at 3~7 GHz. From the experimental results in an anechoic chamber, it has been verified of the excellent recognitions for various 5-bits identification codes.

Collaborative Maintenance Simulation System Using Virtual Mockup (가상목업을 활용한 협업 정비 시뮬레이션 시스템)

  • Applying maintenance simulation using virtual mockup in product design phase enables maintainability test before prototyping physical products, and it is expected to reduce product development costs. The simulation results can be reused as contents of service manuals and RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) analysis data. Maintenance simulation should provide realistic representation of physical property of virtual product, assembly relation between parts and manipulation process to verify feasibility of product design. The simulation system should be extended to collaborative virtual environment to perform collaborative maintenance procedures. In this paper, the three layered system architecture and the physics based collaborative interaction technique are proposed to extend current maintenance simulation into collaborative virtual environment. The proposed system was implemented as ViMMS (Virtual Mockup Maintenance Simulation system), and compared with case study results of VADE (Virtual Assembly Design Environment). As a result, the ViMMS encompassed broader range of maintenance tasks by using physics based collaborative interaction technique.

  • This paper describes a $C^{{+}{+}}$ free vibration analysis program of structures for personal computer. This program was developed by object oriented programming method which is the latest trend in programming practice. The object-oriented programming method which has the superior reuseability and expansibility to procedural programming provides various choice of menus and easy modification of the program, and reduces the development time and size of the program. This object-oriented free vibration analysis program written in $C^{{+}{+}}$ language consists of Vector and Matrix classes, Structural Analysis and GUI classes. The efficiency and validity of the program were examined by solving several numerical examples. The static and free vibration analyses of the framed structures were satisfactorily performed by this program on a personal computer.

  • This research illustrates how the hybrid engine system comprising of a two-cycle reciprocal engine with an integrated generator and a battery is prepared for the design process. The purpose of this research is to increase flight endurance taking advantage of the high energy density of hybrid propulsion systems as well as to cope with current environmental issues by reducing fossil fuel. The hybrid system is designed to offer 6 kW power, and the power can be adjusted by controlling the engine's RPM in accordance with load variations. In addition, the battery is adopted to offer extra electric power that this hybrid system cannot cover, and can function as the main power source in limited time in the case of an emergency situation. Besides that, the generator is directly mounted on an engine crank-shaft, and in turn, they can share the same RPM. Thus, it is hypothesized that this integration method can make a compact design possible by reducing space for the installation in the fuselage of UAVs.

  • Open city information model can increase the understanding of the situation, enable the effective reuse of information due to access the semantic and relational conditions of objects, and support the reliable decision-making through linking with external references. The city information model focused on terrain and buildings was implemented based on the actual data. In addition, a process for flooding simulation was proposed using hydraulic analysis data and the city information model. The deaths and damages were estimated by flooding simulation. The availabilities were examined by detailed queries and responses based on model data of the city information model, hydraulic analysis data and the estimated damages.

A Study on the Estimation of Autogenous Shrinkage of High Strength Mortar incorporating Mineral Admixture by Equivalent Age Method (등가재령 방법에 의한 혼화재 치환 고강도 시멘트 모르타르의 자기수축 해석에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate an effect of curing temperature on autogenous shrinkage of high strength cement mortar with 0.15 of W/B incorporating fly ash and silica fume in terms of equivalent age. The contents of fly ash and silica fume are varied from 10% to 30%. Non linear regression model applying equivalent age was used to estimate the autogenous shrinkage evolution. To obtain apparent activation energy($E_a$), setting time method by Pinto and existing method were calculated and compared respectively. Test results showed that use of silica fume increased autogenous shrinkage while use of fly ash decreased it. It was also found that poor agreements were obtained when $E_a$ by setting time was applied. But, application of existing $E_a$ resulted in a good agreement between calculated autogenous shrinkage and measured one.

Flavor Analysis of Commercial Korean Distilled Spirits using an Electronic Nose and Electronic Tongue (전자코와 전자혀를 이용한 시판 증류주의 향미특성 분석)

  • The objective of this study was to analyze the flavor patterns of commercial Korean distilled spirits using a mass spectrometry-based electronic nose and an electronic tongue. Thirteen types of domestic distilled spirits were used for analysis. The flavor patterns of the distilled spirits were clearly identified through discriminant function analysis of the raw materials. The obtained data of the electronic nose analysis showed that the flavor pattern of the distilled spirits aged in oak barrels was not significantly different from that of the general distilled spirits. According to the results of the electronic tongue, the distilled spirits made with rice had a stronger flavor than those made with foxtail millet. Compared to the sensitivity value of each taste sensor, the distilled spirits showed various intensities of sourness and umami. Therefore, an electronic nose and electronic tongue could be successfully used for quality evaluation and new product development of distilled spirits.
