  • This study presented a framework for re-conceptualized data literacy that consists of three domains-knowledge, skills, and contexts- and elements that are emphasized by each domain. In addition to the existing concept of data literacy that mainly emphasized the skills to handle data, the context domain of data was considered including the elements of scope, time, and value orientation. Based on the re-conceptualized data literacy, it is expected to be usable as reference material in the development of curriculum and educational programs in the fields of informatization, manpower training, and administration.

Reconceptualizing the Geography Subject Matter Based on the Everyday Life (일상생활에 근거한 지리교과의 재개념화)

  • In geography education, the research which conceptualize the subject matter is still scare. Generally, the subject matter is used as a given or taken for granted as tested. The subject matter is not accepted as a given, but needed to construct what is founded on learner's life as a thing of most important the process of teaching and learning. Today, most critics argue that schooling seems to represent only a catalog of subjects, a structure of socially prescribed knowledge, or a complex system of meanings, which may or may not fall within his grasp. To solve this problem the meaning of terms should be separated from socially fixed conditions. Therefore, this resarch explores ways to reconceptualize the subject matter of geography based on the learner's everyday life in geography education.

Curriculum Article's Analysis and Prospection: Focus on Journal of Christian Education in Korea (커리큘럼 논문 분석 및 전망 : 기독교교육논총을 중심으로)

  • This article is to an curriculum area's academic retrospection and hoping future of KSCRE through analyzing of the article in Journal of Christian Education. The methodology for analyzing the Journal of Christian Education is the historical perspectives which are divided into the period of beginning(1996-2010), the period of growth(2011-2015), the period of maturity(2016-2020). Three periods are categorized into curriculum theory, educational learner, educational context. The number of articles in three periods are eight article(25.8%), thirteen article(41.93%), ten article(32.26%). And seven article in curriculum theory, five article in educational learner, nineteen article in education context. Articles of curriculum theory have a tendency into the reconceptualization as the five articles of seven articles. This tendency will maintains in the future of the Christian curriculum by the nature of Christian education as interdisciplinary including theology. Educational learners in the study of Christian curriculum are female, laity, infant, parent which have not any tendency but variety of educational learners. Educational contexts have one article to the home, four articles to the church, fourteen article to the schools including theological schools. For the development of christian curriculum the christian curriculum is studied in balance of educational contexts.

Reconceptualization of Catechesis for Forming Holistic Faith (통전적 신앙형성을 위한 교리교육의 재개념화)

  • This essay aims to seek an alternative model of catechesis, as this form of education faces various challenges from the Korean Church especially during COVID-19 pandemic. For a long time, catechesis in the Korean Church narrowly focused on the act of producing Christians who would be loyal to the local church, rather than focusing on nurturing members loyal to Christ, an issue that has been problematized in recent publications on catechesis. Thus, the loss of social trust in the Korean Church and the decline of its public image exemplify how this type of catechesis as disciple-making for local church's benefit, mostly nurtures a vertical dimension of faith. The current teaching and learning method mostly employs a unilateral transfer of doctrine from the teacher to the learner and emphasizes the memorization of doctrine. This type of instruction renders the catechesis as the most lackluster and outdated form of Christian education. This essay aims to reconceptualize the traditional model of catechesis. This essay first critically evaluates current situations of catechesis and presents several alternative meanings on the concept of doctrine. Then it explores the theories of catechesis through different models posed by Christian educators such as John Westerhoff III and Richard Osmer. The final section is devoted to presenting an alternative form of catechesis that focuses on seeking holistic faith.

  • The purposed of this study was to reconceptualize home economics by focusing the concept of 'Family life welfare' which pursue the improvement of family life through making the home resourceful and developing the community. The reconceptualization of home economics as family life welfare could solve the problem identification and professionalization which home economics lack of. It also would contribute to the extension of an arena and activation of the Discussion no the family life by criticizing several approaches based on functionalism Finally the utilization of home economics major in public affair means the advancement of women's social participation.

  • This study attempts to reconsider the significance of political economy as a theory of knowledge and/or a method for explaining the convergence of broadcast and telecommunications. It is going to suggest what the domains of political economy should be in the future by both highlighting the characteristics and blind spots of previous studies and drawing some distinctive features of a new media environment. The principals and recent research trends in political economy are reviewed in order to make clear that the historical totality as a meta-framework of political economy needs to be reexamined in the era of convergence. Although the scope of political economy has been limited to criticize the structure of media ownerships, the study emphasizes the importance of media consumer theory. It also discusses the problems of free market theory, distortion of active media audience theory, and limitations and creative tension of audience commodity. Finally, this study stresses the significance of audience-oriented policies in order to make approach to practical sides of media politics.

Re-conceptualization of the Geography Curriculum Towards Global Citizenship (세계 시민성 함양을 위한 지리교육과정의 재개념화)

  • This paper aims to theoretically discuss the re-conceptualization of the school geography curriculum towards global citizenship education. To achieve this goal, post-structural global citizenship is introduced as an alternative notion of global citizenship by revealing some limits of the existing postcolonial global citizenship studies for global justice. Based upon Carr's(1996) idea of curriculum typology, three major curriculum perspectives are theoretically evaluated to see if they implicitly or explicitly undermine the citizenship of global 'others' ethically and politically. Post-structuralist ideas are then suggested as an alternative approach. With reference to this standpoint, this paper concludes by providing practical implications for a more just school geography curriculum towards global citizenship.

Thick Description as a Methodology of Comparative Literature (비교문학연구방법론에 대한 소고: 길고 약하고 두껍게 비교하기)

  • This paper proposes a new direction for Comparative Literature which has been deeply Eurocentric and even colonial ever since its birth. 'Comparison' in Comparative Literature has been in fact the ideological mechanism for containing, classifying, and eventually controlling all differences in the world. Literature has naturally served as a national institution of the West at epistemological and discursive level with hidden adjective "comparative". To re-conceptualize the discipline and practice of "Comparative Literature", we need to revolutionize methodology itself based on Wai Chee Dimock's idea of "Weak Theory", Foucault's "disappearance of author", and Clifford Geertz's "thick description". "Thick description" as a methodology of comparative literature re-establishes the discipline as a field of "weak theory", defusing the centrality of linguistic identity and re-making it as a "long network" of loose and missed connections. "Thick description" poses the publicness of nation-state within "confusion of tongues", problematizes the legitimacy of modern knowledge, and puts (the western) nationalism in question. With this idea as a starting point, we can re-imagine Comparative Literature anew as a field of ceaseless discourse of longer, weaker, and thicker networks of interpretation and re-interpretation of differences.

  • By reviewing relatively recent theory of coercive control, which considers gender as a key concept to conceptualize domestic violence, this article explores battered women's experiences with police responses and institutional law enforcement. Using data and interviews from Korea Women's Hotline, this article analyzes the effects of state intervention which fails to support battered women and sends a message to the community that domestic violence is not such a serious crime. Specifically, this study found some problematic responses and attitudes of police and legal system: first, police is equating domestic violence with physical attacks or serious harms. Second, police and law enforcement personnel blame victims based on her gender performance or gender roles. Third, by individualizing the problem of domestic violence, state intervention ignores important structural factors that cause and perpetuate it. Finally, police and the justice system disempower and discourage battered women by exacerbating victim's fears and risks. Viewing domestic violence as a liberty crime, this study concludes that enhanced understanding of the nature of domestic violence only can contribute to solving the problem and protecting women's human rights.

Trust and Perceived Usefulness : Re-conceptualizing Theoretical Relationships among Related Variables (신뢰와 지각된 유용성 : 이론적 관련성에 대한 재개념화)

  • Trust and perceived usefulness have been variables frequently used by IS researchers to explain consumers' online transaction intention. A group of prior studies have incorporated the two variables simultaneously to build better models to capture the phenomenon. However, the studies have largely ignored the role of trust by replacing trust with trustworthiness. The purpose of this study is to fill this gap. To do this, the study conceptualizes and tests relationships between trust, perceived usefulness and related variables. Based on the study results, the study discusses that trust and trustworthiness are distinct and have causal relationships, the dimensions (ability, integrity, and benevolence) of trustworthiness are related but theoretically distinct, and trust performs a mediating role within its nomological network.
