An Analysis on the Residual Stress of Subsurface Zone due to Rolling Contact (회전접촉에 의해 발생하는 Subsurface Zone의 잔류응력에 관한 해석)

  • The degree of work hardening in the subsurface zones varied with the experimental conditions under the rolling contact fatigue wear test of high carbon Cr-Ti alloy steel was evaluated by the distribution of residual stresses. Surface residual stresses before the test did not affect the wear property. Surface residual stresses after the test decreased by the increase of contact stress and running. velocity. but the maximum compressive residual stress and its depth of saturation in the subsurface zone increased. The relationship between these experimental results and the distribution of the theoritical shear stress was also discussed.

Distribution Characteristics of Weld Residual Stress on Butt Welded Dissimilar Metal Plate (이종금속 평판 맞대기용접의 용접잔류응력 분포특성)

  • In this study, the weld residual stress distribution at a dissimilar-metal welded plate of low alloy carbon steel and stainless steel, which are widely used in nuclear power plants, was characterized. A plate mock-up with butt welding was fabricated using SA 508 low alloy steel and Type 304 stainless steel plates and the residual stresses were measured by the X-ray diffraction method after electrolytic polishing of the plate specimen. Finite element analysis was carried out in order to simulate the butt welding of dissimilar metal plate, and the calculated weld residual stress distribution was compared with that obtained from the measured data. The characteristics of the three-dimensional residual stress distribution in a butt weld of dissimilar metal plates were investigated by comparing the measured and calculated residual stress data.

  • Cold expansion of fastener holes is a mechanical process widely used in the aerospace industry. This treatment leads to an improvement of fatigue behavior due to the developed compressive residual stresses on the hole surface. The residual stress profile depends on the parameters of cold expansion, which are expanding rate, inserting direction of mandrel, material properties dtc. Despite its importance to aerospace industiries, little attention has been devoted to the accurate modeling of the process. In this paper, three-dimensional finite element simulations have been conducted for the cold expansion in an aluminium plate in order to predict the magnitude and distribution of the residual stress. To prove the results of FE analysis, the residual strain was measured by strain gage in cold expansion test. Maximum compressive residual stress could be increase about 7 percentage using the 2-step cold expansion method.

고강도 알루미늄 7175 합금 링롤재의 급냉 및 응력제거처리후 잔류응력 유한요소해석 및 측정

  • 고강도 알루미늄 합금 링롤재의 급냉, 링 팽창(expansion) 및 링 압축(compression) 응력제거처리후 잔류응력을 예측하기 위하여 2차원 축대칭 열해석 및 탄소성 해석을 수행하였다. 급냉 및 응력제거처리 후 2단 과시효 처리(T73)된 링롤재에 대하여 3단계 절단법(Three step sectioning method)을 적용하여 링롤재의 두께에 따른 잔류응력 분포를 측정하였으며, 측정결과를 급냉 및 응력제거처리후 잔류응력 해석결과와 비교분석하였다. 링의 급냉후 원주 및 축방향의 잔류응력 해석값은 T73후 측정값과 비슷한 경향을 보였으며, 링의 내면과 외면에서 압축응력을 나타내었고 중심에서 인장응력을 나타내었다. 잔류응력은 링 팽창(T7351) 및 링 압축(T7352) 적용후 T73에 비해 현저히 감소하였으며, 축방향의 제거 효과가 원주방향보다 우수하게 나타났다. 또한 링 압축에 의한 제거효과가 링 팽창보다 크게 나타났다. 링롤재의 응력제거처리는 제거 효과 및 실용성 측면에서 링 압축 공정이 유리하며, 치수제어 및 장비용량 측면에서 링 팽창 공정이 유리하다는 결론을 얻었다.

Stress Distribution around Laser-Welded Cutting Wheels Using a Spherical Indentation (구형압입을 이용한 레이저 용접된 절단 휠의 잔류응력 분포 측정)

  • A spherical indentation has been proposed as a nondestructive method of measuring local residual stress field in laser-voided joints. The apparent yield strengths interpreted from the spherical indentation data of as-welded cutting wheel were compared with the intrinsic yield strengths measured at nearly equivalent locations in annealed wheel. Their difference along the distance from the welding line is welding stress distribution because the intrinsic yield strength is invariant regardless of the elastic residual stress. The spherical indentations show that the laser-welded diamond cutting wheel displays a 10 min-wide distribution of the welding residual stress and has peak compressive and tensile stresses in the shank and tip regions, respectively.

A Study on Effect of Residual Stress on Stress Distribution of Arterial Walls Under High Blood Pressure (잔류응력 효과를 고려한 고혈압 상태에 있는 혈관벽 내의 응력분포에 대한 연구)

  • Due to recent changes in living conditions, people who suffer from vascular disease have been increasing. As a result, several kinds of procedures to treat diseases of the blood vessels are being carried out and the epidemiological analysis and interpretation is needed. In this paper, the mechanical behavior of blood vessels based on hyperelastic model were evaluated. The stress distributions in the arterial walls subjected to both normal blood pressure and high blood pressure are studied along with different opening angles representing as the effect of the residual stress. As a result, when applied to residual stress effects in blood vessels to act maximum stress compared to as the absence of residual stress effect about 50% stresses can be reduced. When high blood pressure was the normal blood pressure acting on the blood vessel wall that twice stress can be confirmed.

  • A novel method was proposed for determining the residual stress profile of an optical fiber by using a modified polariscope. Measurement results of the axisymmetric residual stress for a conventional single-mode fiber were demonstrated by using this method. It was found that non-uniform stress is distributed in the cladding of the fiber. This means that large mechanical stress is induced as a function of temperature generated near the neck shape of the fiber preform.

  • 경사기능 재료는 위치에 따른 특성 변화를 갖고 있어 변화하는 주변 환경에서 사용되는 재료의 응용성을 높일 수 있는 장점이 있다. 적합한 경사기능 재료의 제조를 위해서는 탄성률, 강도, 인성 등의 위치에 따른 변화를 예측하는 것이 필요하다. 그러나 재료 내에서의 탄성률 변화 등으로 인해 경사기능 재료에서 인성을 정량적으로 표현하는데는 어려움이 있으므로 이를 정량적으로 측정하고, R-curve를 결정하는 것은 재료의 응용성에 중요한 인자가 된다. 본 연구에서는 폴리우레탄 스폰지를 이용하여 밀도의 분포가 연속적으로 다른 폴리 우레탄 스폰지를 제조하고 이에 알루미나 분말 슬러리를 이용하여 slip casting을 행하였다. 그 후 폴리 우레탄 스폰지를 탈지한 후 알루미나 성형체를 소결하여 연속적인 기공률 분포가 다른 다공성 알루미나를 제조하였으며, 이에 Al을 용침하여 $Al_2O_3-Al$ 경사기능 재료를 제조하였다. 이러한 $Al_2O_3-Al$ 경사기능 재료에 대해 파괴인성 및 R-curve 특성을 CT(conpact tension)시편으로 측정하였으며, 이를 균일한 복합체의 파괴인성과 비교하였다. 또한 잔류 응력 특성을 파악하기 위해 실험적이 응력 데이터를 Moire interferometry를 이용하여 결정하였다. 또한 이를 유한요서 해석법(FEM)에 의한 계산치와 비교하였다. 서로 다른 조성 분포를 갖는 $Al_2O_3-Al$ 경사기능 재료와 균일한 복합체의 파괴인성을 비교한 결과 동일한 Al조성에서도 서로 다른 파괴 인성치가 나타났다. $Al_2O_3-Al$ 경사기능 재료에서 파괴인성에 영향을 줄 수 있는 인자로는 술수한 $Al_2O_3$의 파괴인성에 Al금속의 소성변형에 의한 인성증진 효과, 그리고 경사기능 재료에서 상호 조성차이에 따른 잔류응력을 고려할 수 있을 것이다. 이중 $Al_2O_3-Al$ 경사기능 재료의 파괴인성에 미치는 잔류응력의 영향을 고려하기 위해 이의 잔류응력에 대해 실험에 의한 유추된 잔류응력과 FEM계산에 의해 유추된 잔류 응력을 비교, 분석하였다.

Redistribution of Welding Residual Stress and its Effects on Fatigue Crack Propagation (피로균열이 진전할 때 용접잔류응력의 재분포와 그 영향)

  • Redistribution of residual stress and its effects during fatigue crack propagates from tensile residual stress region in weldment are investigated. Tests are performed by using welded CCT specimens of structual rolling steel (SS400) and it makes fatigue crack propagate from tensile residual stress region. For this study tension-tension loading type is selected by external loading condition and magnetizing stress indicator is used correctly to measure redistribution of residual stress according to fatigue crack growth and number of loading cycles. From this result, it is proved that redistribution of residual stress is mainly consist of residual stress released by fatigue crack growth. When fatigue crack propagates from tensile residual stress region residual stress are redistributed and it makes fatigue crack growth rate largely increase. Fatigue crack growth rate is low in case of redistributed residual stress compare with initial distributed residual stress.
