An Exploratory Study on the Relationship between SNS Use during a Task and Task Performance: An Analysis of Task Complexity Difference (작업 수행 중 SNS 사용과 작업 성과의 관계에 관한 탐색적 연구: 작업의 난이도에 따른 차이 분석)

  • Although the relationship between social networking sites (SNS) use and performance has been widely studied, most of these studies have focused on comparing the SNS users' overall performance with that of non-SNS users instead of examining how using SNS midway of a task affects one's task performance. To address this research gap, an experiment was conducted to examine SNS use during a task and its influence on the performance of that task. In this experiment, the role of SNS in various situations was examined by reviewing the literature on break and performance as well as the types of breaks and tasks. Owing to its exploratory nature, this study used various types of data, such as electroencephalography interpretation data generated from a brain-computer interface, self-reported data, and data recorded by a computer. Those participants who used SNS showed an improved performance compared with those who took a short break while doing a simple task. Further analysis showed that the degree of SNS usage and engagement with SNS had positive effects on the participants' simple task performance, while social presence and reassurance of self-worth had negative and positive effects on the participants' complex task performance, respectively.

Online Non-preemptive Deadline Scheduling for Weighted Jobs (가중치 작업들의 온라인 비선점 마감시한 스케줄링)

  • In deadline scheduling, jobs have deadlines by which they are completed. The scheduling algorithm determines which jobs are executed at each time. Then only the completed jobs contribute to the throughput or gain of the algorithm. The jobs have arbitrary weights and the gain of the algorithm is given as the sum of weights of the completed jobs. The goal of the scheduling algorithm is to maximize its gain. In this paper, we consider online non-preemptive scheduling, where jobs arrive online and the scheduling algorithm has no information about jobs arriving ahead. Also the jobs cannot be preempted or rejected while they are executed. For this problem, we obtain lower bounds for any online algorithms and also we propose an optimal online algorithm meeting the lower bounds.

  • 인공지능의 학습 작업은 연산량이 많아 고성능 연산 장치인 GPU(Graphics Processing Unit)를 필요로 하며, GPU 장치의 성능은 학습 작업의 실행 성능에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 요소 중 하나로 작용한다. 인공지능 작업을 처리하기 위해 많이 사용되는 텐서플로의 경우 GPU를 사용해 연산을 수행할 때 기본적으로 거의 모든 GPU 메모리 영역을 단일 학습 작업이 점유하도록 GPU 메모리를 관리한다. 이 방법은 컴퓨팅 자원 중 확장성이 가장 낮은 GPU 메모리의 단편화를 방지하기 위해 사용되는 방법이지만, 하나의 학습 작업이 GPU를 점유하게 되면, 실제 GPU 메모리 사용량과 상관없이 다른 프로세스는 GPU를 사용할 수 없는 문제를 유발한다. 특히, 전이학습, 소규모 학습과 같이 상대적으로 작업 규모가 작은 경우에는 전체 GPU 메모리 용량 중 대부분의 영역이 낭비된다. 본 논문에서는 컨테이너 환경에서 텐서플로의 기본 GPU 메모리 사용 방식으로 인해 다수의 학습 작업을 동시 실행하는 것이 불가능한 문제를 확인하고 GPU 메모리 사용량을 제한한 경우와 하지 않은 경우에 실제 GPU 메모리 사용량과 학습 작업의 실행 시간에 대한 성능 비교를 통해 GPU 메모리의 단편화 방지가 성능에 유의미한 요소인지 검증한다.

Effect of Forest Road Network on Accessibility and Cost Reduction for Forest Operations (II) - Harvesting Operations - (임도 시설에 따른 접근성 개선 및 산림작업비용 절감효과(II) - 목재수확작업을 중심으로 -)

  • This study was conducted to analyze the effect of forest road network on accessibility and cost reduction for forest operations before and after forest road construction by investigating harvesting operations in 5 regional Forest Services (8 management planning districts). The results showed that the accessible operation area within 500 m from forest roads or public roads increased about 3.5 times after the forest road construction. The average cost reduction was 308,000 won/km/year. According to the results, forest road had a great effect on improvement of accessibility and reduction effect of forest operation cost. Therefore, the policy for expansion of forest road should be continued for preparing of effective harvesting system.

  • Crack in Pavements have been continually increased a by water penetration Therefore, the cracks can result in deterioration of the pavements that could be extremely dangerous fro road users. Creak sealing work performed in outdoor is very dangerous, costly and labor intensive. To slove these problems, automated crack sealing systems have been developed. it Would be needed that work information related to crack sealing must be gathered in an effort to used for existing or future crack sealing work. Furthermore, work information related to crack sealing could be utilized in analyzing work productivity and condition. The primary objective of this study is to propose a PDA and Web-based system for work information management of crack sealing which enables to effectively interchange work information between head office and fields, and to accurately collect work information. Finally, it is anticipated that the effective use of the developed PDA and web-based system would be able to effectively share work Information, measure productivity, estimate costs as well as plan future work schedule.

  • Objective : The aim of this study is to analyze the telemedicine in Japan and discuss the role of the community-based occupational therapy. Methods : This study was collected and analyzed data on telemedicine status in Japan. It examined the definition and forms of telemedicine and analyzed for the appearance to the background telemedicine in Japan. Thus, we discussed the role of the community-based occupational therapy. Results : Due to increased medical costs, low fertility rate and aging in Japan, it had provided the telemedicine as a more efficient form of health care services. Also, telemedicine emerged due to the lack of doctors, development of medical technology, and regional deviation between rural and urban area. In the case of Korea, similar to Japan, therefore, there is a demand for the telemedicine. Conclusion : With regard to telemedicine, occupational therapy in community-based rehabilitation is expected to be able to treat for patients as health care professionals. Therefore the reform of the educational system is needed for this.

A Relationship Between Korean EFL Learners' Working Memory Capacity, English Vocabulary Size, and Listening Competence (한국인 영어 학습자의 작업 기억 용량과 영어 어휘 수준 및 듣기 능력 관계 연구)

  • The current study aims to investigate the relationship between working memory capacity, vocabulary size, and listening competence of Korean EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners. 30 English education majors from a university in Korea were recruited. The backward digit span and the operation span tasks were used to measure the participants' working memory capacity, while the Listening Vocabulary Level Test (LVLT) and the Michigan English Test (MET) were employed to measure their vocabulary size and listening proficiency in English, respectively. The correlational analyses revealed that the bigger one's working memory storage was, the better the person processed incoming input. However, no statistically significant correlation was found between working memory capacity, English vocabulary size, and listening proficiency, possibly due to the small sample size and the homogeneous subjects.

The Effect of Project Based Learning(PBL) Application Using Social Networks on Problem Solving Ability of Occupational Therapy Students (소셜네트워크를 활용한 프로젝트기반학습(PBL) 적용이 작업치료과 대학생의 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the problem solving ability of occupational therapy students by applying PBL classes using social networks. Data were collected from 35 students in the third year of occupational therapy at K University from March to June 2019. The results were as follows: First, PBL application using social networks showed a significant improvement in problem solving ability. Seconds, there was a significant difference in problem solving ability according to the preference of mobile device use and major satisfaction. Therefore, as a learning tool for improving the problem-solving ability of occupational therapy students, we proposed a way to increase satisfaction with learning by activating PBL using social networks.

A Study on the Application of Risk Weighting Factors in Risk Assessment Through Manufacturing Accident Analysis (제조업 사고분석을 통한 위험성평가 시 위험 가중요인 적용에 관한 연구)

  • In order to prevent industrial accidents, this study presented a methodology to ensure that risk aggravating factors are reflected in risk assessments at manufacturing sites and demonstrated it by applying it to actual manufacturing sites. As a result of a statistical analysis of all 242,906 accidents that occurred in the manufacturing industry over the past 10 years, new workers less than 6 months old, foreign workers, older workers over 55 years old, and jobs where hands and arms are exposed to risk areas, Non-routine work performed from 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock showed a significantly high accident rate. In addition, a weighted value was applied to estimate the possibility of an accident at the risk determination stage through focus group interviews. Through the results of this study, risk weighting factors can be quantitatively reflected in risk assessment, which is meaningful in preventing accidents by evaluating the size of the identified risk closer.
