ORC system was designed and constructed for utilizing the heat of the exhaust gas and coolant released from the gas engine which was modified to use natural gas as a fuel. In this paper the components of the ORC system were designed and manufactured based on measured data of the gas engine. The components are composed of two plate heat exchanger, the 5kW-class expander and multi stage centrifugal pump. The thermodynamic performance of the ORC system was analyzed by using the electric heater. Also, the developed ORC system was implemented to modified natural gas engine. Two gas engines were used to supply heat to the ORC system. As a result of test bench, when the heat source temperature is $110^{\circ}C$ expander shaft power, the pressure ratio and cycle efficiency is 5.22kW, 7.41, 9.09%. As a result of field test, when the heat source temperature is $86^{\circ}C$ expander shaft power, the pressure ratio and cycle efficiency is 2kW, 3.75, 6.45%.

Database correctness is guaranteed by standard transaction scheduling schemes like two-phase locking for the context of concurrent execution environment in which short-lived ones are normally mixed with long-lived ones. Traditional syntax-oriented serializability notions are considered to be not enough to handle in particular various types of transaction in terms of duration of execution. To deal with this situation, altruistic locking has attempted to reduce delay effect associated with lock release moment by use of the idea of donation. An improved form of altruism has also been deployed in extended altruistic locking in a way that scope of data to be early released is enlarged to include even data initially not intended to be donated. In this paper, we first of all investigated limitations inherent in both altruistic schemes from the perspective of alleviating starvation occasions for transactions in particular of short-lived nature. The idea of two-way donation locking(2DL) has then been experimented to see the effect of more than single donation in distributed database systems. Simulation experiments shows that 2DL outperforms the conventional two-phase locking in terms of the degree of concurrency and average transaction waiting time under the circumstances that the size of long-transaction is in between 5 and 9.

There are to be some cracks on the material degradation part or the stress concentration parts of the main members, which carry on over-loads, of structures. Because these cracks can be used to evaluate the structural health status, it is important to monitor the crack growth for maintaining the structural safety. In this study, the fiber Bragg grating sensor with a drop ball was developed as a sensor for crack growth detection of an existing crack. The crack growth detection sensor was constructed with three parts: a probe part, a wavelength controling light source and receiver part, and an impact part. The probe part was just formed with a fiber Bragg grating optical fiber The wavelength controling light source part was composed of a current supplying circuit, a DFB laser diode, and a TEC controling circuit for wavelength control. Also, the impact part was just implemented by dropping a steel ball. The performance of this sensor was confirmed by the experiments of the crack detection with an aluminum plate having one existing crack. According to these experiments, the difference of the sensor signal outputs was correlated with the crack length. So, it was confirmed that this sensor could be applied to monitor the crack growth.

Taint analysis techniques are popularly used to detect web vulnerabilities originating from unverified user input data, such as Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and SQL Injection, in web applications written in JavaScript. To detect such vulnerabilities, it would be necessary to trace variables affected by user-submitted inputs. However, because of the dynamic nature of JavaScript, it has been a challenging issue to identify those variables without running the web application code. Therefore, most existing taint analysis tools have been developed based on dynamic taint analysis, which requires the overhead of running the target application. In this paper, we propose a novel static taint analysis technique using symbol information obtained from the TypeScript (a superset of JavaScript) compiler to accurately track data flow and detect security vulnerabilities in TypeScript code. Our proposed technique allows developers to annotate variables that can contain unverified user input data, and uses the annotation information to trace variables and data affected by user input data. Since our proposed technique can seamlessly be incorporated into the TypeScript compiler, developers can find vulnerabilities during the development process, unlike existing analysis tools performed as a separate tool. To show the feasibility of the proposed method, we implemented a prototype and evaluated its performance with 8 web applications with known security vulnerabilities. We found that our prototype implementation could detect all known security vulnerabilities correctly.

Recently, according to the development of measurement techniques, it has become possible to take complicated and time-consuming field measurements in a simple and convenient manner. In this background, this study estimated the tension of cables under ambient vibration using minimized measurement and signal processing. The VBDM using video-only by low-cost equipment was used as a minimized measurement. An estimation of the natural frequency using the mirror frequency concept was also proposed to solve the shortage of frequency band in this case. Furthermore, the FDD method was adopted for a natural frequency estimation in the ambient vibration related to field application. Experimental studies using a cable-stayed bridge model were carried out to examine the properties of the mirror frequency and the applicability of FDD with the proposed minimized system. The results showed that FDD for ambient vibration also works properly in an estimation of the natural frequency using the minimized system. In addition, the mirror frequency concept can allow a high natural frequency estimation even in a distorted signal by low-speed recording, which can overcome the limit of the minimized system. Overall, the proposed minimized system can be effective for the tension estimations of a cable under ambient vibration.

A hydraulic breaker attached to an excavator is a kind of constructuion equipment which is used for the disassembling of buildings, crashing road pavement, breaking rocks at quarry and etc. Therefore, the performance of the hydraulic breaker is mainly evaluated by the impact quantity and impact efficiency, which is an important factor for both the manufacturer and the user. In this paper, modeling and simulation for the prediction of the impact of the hydraulic breaker was conducted according to hydraulic pressure area and operating conditions of the hydraulic valve and piston using the commercial tools SimulationX for the 20ton hydraulic breaker which is mainly used in construction site. In order to verify the reliability of modeling and simulation, the results of previous experimental studies were compared and verified. The results of this study are expected to be useful for predicting the impact of the hydraulic breaker at the design stage before manufacturing and for studying parameters for improving the impact quantity. In addition, the manufacturer predicts that the development time and cost will be reduced through trial and error prevention by predicting the impact of the hydraulic breaker through the results of this paper.
A new and interesting task in statistics is to effectively analyze functional data that frequently comes from advances in modern science and technology in areas such as meteorology and biomedical sciences. Functional linear regression with scalar response is a popular functional data analysis technique and it is often a common problem to determine a functional association if a functional predictor variable affects the scalar response in the models. Recently, Kong et al. (Journal of Nonparametric Statistics, 28, 813-838, 2016) established classical testing methods for this based on functional principal component analysis (of the functional predictor), that is, the resulting eigenfunctions (as a basis). However, the eigenbasis functions are not generally suitable for regression purpose because they are only concerned with the variability of the functional predictor, not the functional association of interest in testing problems. Additionally, eigenfunctions are to be estimated from data so that estimation errors might be involved in the performance of testing procedures. To circumvent these issues, we propose a testing method based on fixed basis such as B-splines and show that it works well via simulations. It is also illustrated via simulated and real data examples that the proposed testing method provides more effective and intuitive results due to the localization properties of B-splines.
An end-to-end speech recognition model consisting of a single integrated neural network model was recently proposed. The end-to-end model does not need several training steps, and its structure is easy to understand. However, it is difficult to understand how the model recognizes speech internally. In this paper, we visualized and analyzed the attention-based end-to-end model to elucidate its internal mechanisms. We compared the acoustic model of the BLSTM-HMM hybrid model with the encoder of the end-to-end model, and visualized them using t-SNE to examine the difference between neural network layers. As a result, we were able to delineate the difference between the acoustic model and the end-to-end model encoder. Additionally, we analyzed the decoder of the end-to-end model from a language model perspective. Finally, we found that improving end-to-end model decoder is necessary to yield higher performance.

Thermal batteries are also called molten-salt batteries as the electrolyte is mainly composed of molten salt. The molten-salt electrolyte is a solid that does not conduct electricity at room temperature, but when it is melted by a pyrotechnic heat source, it becomes an excellent ionic conductor. Thermal batteries are a kind of pyrotechnic battery because they operate only when the solid electrolyte is melted by the heat energy provided by pyrotechnic materials. Pyrotechnic components used in a thermal battery include heat sources, fuse strips, and an igniter. The reliability of these pyrotechnic components critically affects the reliability and performance of the battery that must supply electricity stably to guided munitions even under extreme environmental conditions. Different igniter types offer different advantages: notch-type igniters offer improved ignition probability, whereas film-type igniters offer improved safety. The addition of metal oxides to the heat paper could improve the burn rate, and the ignition reliability could be greatly improved by using it with a flame igniter at the same time. Using a two-step reduction process, high-purity Fe particles in coral form can be safely obtained.

Thermodynamic analysis of cascade refrigeration systems has attracted considerable research attention. On the other hand, a system evaluation based on thermodynamic analyses of the individual parts, including the evaporator, condenser, intercooler, expansion valve, etc., has received less attention. In this study, performance analysis was conducted on a cascade refrigeration system, which has an individual cooling and refrigeration evaporator, and equips the intercooler and air-cooled condenser in a series in a lower cycle. The thermo-fluid design was then performed on the major components of the system - upper condenser, lower condenser, cooling evaporator, refrigeration evaporator, intercooler, compressor, electronic expansion valve - of 15 kW refrigeration, and 8 kW cooling capacity using R-410A. A series of simulations were conducted on the designed system. The change in outdoor temperature from 26 C to 38 C resulted in the cooling capacity of the lower evaporator remaining approximately the same, whereas it decreased by 9% at the upper evaporator and by 63% at the intercooler. The COP decreased with increasing outdoor temperature. In addition, the COP of the cycle with the intercooler operation was higher that of the cycle without the intercooler operation. Furthermore, the increase in the upper condenser size by two fold increased the upper evaporator by 4%. On the other hand, the lower evaporator capacity remained the same. The COP of the upper cycle increased with increasing upper condenser size, whereas that of the lower cycle remained almost the same. When the size of the lower condenser was increased 2.8 fold, the intercooler capacity increased by 8%, whereas those of upper and the lower evaporator remained approximately the same. Furthermore, the COP of the lower cycle increased with an increase in the lower condenser. On the other hand, the change of the upper condenser was minimal.
