  • We simulated the magnetization reversal behavior of submicron-thickness magnetic films by applying pulses of sub-ns-long durations and amplitudes along the easy axis. The films were rectangular and elliptical $Ni_{80}Fe_{20}$, and their thickness was 2 nm and 4 nm. We observed different behaviors depending upon the shape and thickness of the films and found a normal non-switching in regions in which we expected complete switching after relaxation. In the elliptical film, the non-switching regions were found to be random and to be widely distributed throughout the switching map. The strong demagnetization field along the z-axis, the film thickness direction, is likely responsible for this abnormal behavior. In the rectangular film, the abnormal non-switching regions were less distributed than they were in the elliptical film due to edge domains resulting from the small $M_z$ or demagnetization field during the switching. Our simulation confirms that large demagnetization is detrimental to the ultra-fast magnetization reversal of magnetic ultra-thin films.

  • To study the magnetization reversal behavior of Co/Pd multilayers, we first demagnetized the samples by the field-demagnetized method and then measured initial curves and minor loops. The coercivity and the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy were obtained from the perpendicular and parallel magnetization curves measured at different temperatures. We interpret our experimental results by applying several qualitative and semiquantative approaches. From these study, we found that the magnetization reversal behavior is dominated by the domain wall pinning for all samples and the coercivity incremental tendency can be explained by Kronmuller's formula $H_c(T)\;{\propto}\;r_0.K_u$.

  • Magnetic properties at low-temperatures can diagnose the presence of certain magnetic minerals in rocks. At the Verwey transition temperature ($T_v$, ~105~120 K), magnetite transforms from monoclinic to cubic structure as the temperature increases. At the isotropic point ($T_i$, ~135 K), magnetocrystalline anisotropic constant of magnetite passes through zero (from negative to positive) as the temperature decreases so that its optimal remanence acquisition axis changes from [111] to [001]. A sharp remanence drop was observed at $T_v$ during warming of LTSIRM (low-temperature saturation isothermal remanent magnetization). For cooling of RTSIRM (room-temperature saturation isothermal remanent magnetization), the remanence decreased on passing $T_i$ and $T_v$. On warming of RTSIRM, remanence recovery becomes more prominent as the average grain size of magnetite increases. In summary, the SIRM memory decreases with increasing grain size of magnetite. A similar, but rather gradual, remanence transition occurs for natural samples due to contribution of cations other than Fe. As a non-destructive tool, low-temperature magnetic behavior is sensitive to unravel the magnetic remanence carriers in terrestrial rocks or meteorites.

  • Recently, there have been grave concerns that the anticipated increase in the use of nuclear energy worldwide could result in dissemination of sensitive nuclear technologies. To meet the increase in nuclear energy demand and strengthen the non-proliferation regime simultaneously, the various proposals for 'multilateralization of nuclear fuel cycle' have been widely suggested. Those proposals are expected to have serious impacts on our country, if they has come true. In this paper, therefore, the 12 existing proposals were reviewed and assessed for their potential impacts on our country, in order to help prepare the appropriate measures responding to the international attempt of 'multilateralization of nuclear fuel cycle'.

  • This paper describes an implementation of the rotational hysteresis analysis using the finite element method and a vector hysteresis model. The vector hysteresis model is extended from the magnetization-dependent Preisach model. The magnetization of each element is calculated for a given history of the rotating field. The lagging angle and the magnitude of the magnetization for an applied field are evaluated. The experimental results show that the magnetization characteristics of the magnetic materials under the rotating field can be analyzed accurately by the proposed method.

이와 같은 자성이미징(magnetic domain image), 자화벽(magnetic domain wall)을 연구하는데 있어 가장 핵심적인 장비가 SEMPA(Scanning Electron Microscopy with Polarization Analysis)이다.

  • A milatary ship without degaussing coil has a vertical magnetization to compensate magnetization induced by the vertical magnetic field component of earth magnetic field during demagnetization process. Flash D is very useful to acquire vertical magnetization. However this is hard to predict vertical magnetization. This experiment was investicated on another method, which used the only vertical bias magentic field. The specimens were prepared by thin Zn coated steel sheet with a thickness of 0.15mm. The shapes of 3 specimes was rectangular, triangular and circular cylinders. These shapes were corresponded to the shapes of bow, mid and stern of a vessel. Through FEM analysis, the difference of magnetic signatures for these specimens was recognized and the residual magnetization curve was measured. magnetic field was generated by a solenoid coil and magnetic signature was measured by a magnetic field sensor. A linearity between a vertical bias magnetic field and a vertical manetzation existed and the vertical magnetization of a miltary vessel was predicted by the linearity.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficience transcoder architecture to support a simutaneous multibitrate output. First, we discuss about some architectures to realize this feature. Next, we explain the proposed architecture, it shares not only VLD-IQ but alse Q-VlD which have the same quantization step sizes each other. We anlyze the numbers of Q-VLC times per on Macroblock to the investigate an effect of sharing, and evaluate its computation complexity. The result of simulation, that complexity has an upper limit and it cn support any numbers of bitstream by about 3~6 times complexity than single output.

  • Although MR imaging is generally applicable to depict knee joint deterioration it, is sometimes occurred to mis-read and mis-diagnose the common knee joint diseases. In this study, we employed magnetization transfer ratio (MTR) method to improve the diagnosis of the various knee joint diseases. Spin-echo (SE) T2-weighted images (TR/TE 3,400-3,500/90-100 ms) were obtained in seven cases of knee joint deterioration, FSE T2-weighted images (TR/TE 4,500-5,000/100-108 ms) were obtained in seven cases of knee joint deterioration, gradient-echo (GRE) T2-weighted images (TR/TE 9/4.56/$50^{\circ}$ flip angle, NEX 1) were obtained in 3 cases of knee joint deterioration, In six cases of knee joint deterioration, fat suppression was performed using a T2-weighted short T1/tau inverse recovery (STIR) sequence (TR/TE =2,894-3,215 ms/70 ms, NEX 3, ETL 9). Calculation of MTR for individual pixels was performed on registration of unsaturated and saturated images. After processing to make MTR images, the images were displayed in gray color. For improving diagnosis, three-dimensional isotropic volume images, the MR tristimulus color mapping and the MTR map was employed. MTR images showed diagnostic images quality to assess the patients' pathologies. The intensity difference between MTR images and conventional MRI was seen on the color bar. The profile graph on MTR imaging effect showed a quantitative measure of the relative decrease in signal intensity due to the MT pulse. To diagnose the pathologies of the knee joint, the profile graph data was shown on the image as a small cross. The present study indicated that MTR images in the knee joint were feasible. Investigation of physical change on MTR imaging enables to provide us more insight in the physical and technical basis of MTR imaging. MTR images could be useful for rapid assessment of diseases that we examine unambiguous contrast in MT images of knee disorder patients.

  • Polymerized vesicles were formed from monomeric surfactants and permeability of polymerized vesicles were compared with that of monomeric analogs. The results showed that crosslinking get the permeability of vesicle decrease. And when the vesicle was polymerized at both inside and outside of vesicle, the vesicle got the lower permeability. Packing structure in the vesicle which is dependent upon the molecular structure of alkyl group in surfactant had an effect on permeability of vesicle.
