The Analysis of Inquiry Scopes in High School General Science Textbook Based on the 6th Curriculum - Emphasizing the Analysis of Inquiry Experiment - (제 6차 교육과정에 따른 고등학교 공통과학 교과서의 탐구영역 분석 - 탐구 실험을 중심으로 -)

  • In order to obtain data for developing an ideal science curriculum. four kinds of General Science textbooks based on the 6th curriculum were analyzed. Particularly inquiry activities were analyzed by Scientific Inquiry Evaluation Inventory(SIEI). The results are as follows: 1) The average number of inquiry activities in four kinds of textbooks is 115.5. And the number in each textbook is very diverse: textbook A contains 94 inquiry activities, textbook B 147. textbook C 100 and textbook D 121. 2) As for the number of inquiry activity scopes in four kinds of textbook. observation comes to 22, experiment 117, interpreting data 196, investigation 64, discussion 51, classification 4 and prediction 8. And then the conceptional inquiry activity is about 2.3 times as many as the inquiry experiment. 3) According to the analysis of each inquiry task by SIEI. textbook A has 268, textbook B 328, textbook C 207 and textbook D 304. 4) In the analysis of the structure of inquiry activity, the evaluation of the competition and cooperation scale shows more emphasis on common tasks. no pooled results(87.1 %). The discussion scale mostly consists of activities without discussion required among students(83.5%). The evaluation of openness scale shows more emphasis on activities with problems, procedures and answers presented(58.3%). In the evaluation of inquiry scope scale, the inquiry scope scale mostly has the activities to demonstrate or verify the contents of the text(66.9%). 5) As for the analysis of inquiry activities as a whole. The inquiry pyramid in four kinds of General Science textbooks shows the type I that emphasizes the inquiry activities in low level such as gathering and organizing data. The inquiry index in four kinds of textbooks is average 47.8, shows very high level (above 35).

Characteristics and Forecasting Models of Urban Traffic Generation in Seoul Metropolitan Area (수도권(首都圈)에 있어서 도시교통발생특성(都市交通發生特性)과 그 예측모형(豫測模型))

  • This study proposes the explanatory indices of urban traffic for the purpose of solving the ambiguity of selection of the explanatory variables, which always raises problems in case of the travel-demand forecasting in the urban transportation planning, and develops optimal urban traffic generation models. The multiple regression models for objective traffic generation are developed by using the proposed explanatory inidces. Objective variables that can be explained by one explanatory variable are modified into simple regression type (Y=bX) in order to ensure the nonnegativity of traffic generation. Similarities are noted in the generaton characteristics of generated traffic from homogeneous land-use activity. Objective variables that can not be explained by multiple variable, such as trip attraction of school and trip generation of social-recreation, are classified by the characteristics of each zone. And traffic generation forecasting models are built as homogeneous zone group, the validity of each model being tested by a statistical method. It is desired that the forecasting precision is in improved by easy and simple method. Accordingly, trip generation rates are calculated from each land-use activity, and trip generation rates for practical application are proposed by considering their stability.

  • This study is on the variation of characters' role and desire in the series animation. For this study, Greimas Actant Model is used to analyze characters' role and behavior and Maslow's Motivation Theory is used to analyze the changing pattern in their desire. Finally, Joseph Campbell's Monomyth or Hero's Journey is used to analyze the whole narrative through all the series. For this analysis, this study chose series animation as a case, The study shows that the desire of the protagonist of series animation keeps escalating for higher values. On the contrary, the other characters' desire don't show any consistency. This result can be explained with monomyth frame. The escalation of the desire in natural because the whole series is a three consecutive episodes about the story of a person's turning over a new leaf and reunion of the parted family. Also, the escalation is originally plotted by the protagonist's expectation role in monomyth's three steps; self-awareness, accomplishment and ultimate freedom.

  • The essential policy of suicide prevention is to continuously manage and treat suicide attempted people through data base related to suicide retry rate and follow-up study report. In Korea, only few people are allowed to follow-up by the Personal Information Protection Act. As a result, the research participation rate and the service participation rate are rather low, so that the research participants is limited to a part of the suicide attempted people. Therefore, the policy proposals to be improved in the Ministry of Health and Welfare Act were examined comparatively in order to increase the practical utilization of the suicide prevention about Article 14 and Article 20 of the Suicide Prevention Act. As a criterion for policy improvement, measures for non-discrimination of information to be considered in terms of technical and ethical dimensions and non-profit research and medical information for medical purposes were suggested. In addition to the severity of the suicide, the suicide risk was assessed and the criteria for the objective assessment of the follow-up observation were considered in consideration of the severity of the suicide.

  • 정보검색 시스템을 대하는 대부분의 이용자의 대답은 '이용하기에 어렵다'라는 것이다. 기계적인 정보검색을 기본 철학으로 하는 기존의 matching paradigm은 정보 곡체를 여기 저기 내용을 옮길 수 있는 물건으로 간주한다. 그리고 기존의 정보시스템은 이용자가 시스템을 구성한 사람의 의도 (즉, indexing, cataloguing rule)를 완전히 이해한다면, 즉 완전하게 질문식(query)을 작성한다면, 효과적인 검색을 할 수 있는 그런 시스템이다. 그러나 어느 이용자가 그 복잡한 시스템을 이해하고 정보검색을 할 수 있겠는가? 한마디로 시스템을 설계한 사람의 의도로 이용자가 적응해서 검색을 한다는 것은 아주 힘든 일이다. 그러나 우리가 이용자에 대한 인식을 다시 한다면 보다 나은 시스템을 만들 수 있다고 본다. 우리 인간은 아주 창조적이어서 자기가 처한 상황에서 이치에 맞게끔 자기 나름대로의 행동을 할 수 있다(sense-making approach). 이 사실을 인식한다면, 왜 이용자들의 행동양식에 시스템 설계자가 적응을 못하는 것인가? 하고 의문을 던질 수 있다. 앞으로의 시스템이 이용자들의 자연스러운 행동 패턴에 맞게 끔 설계된다면 기존의 시스템과 함께 쉽게 이용할 수 있는 편리한 시스템이 설계될 수 있을 것이다. 그러므로 도서관 및 정보학 연구에 있어서 기존의 분류. 목록에 대한 연구와 이용자체에 대한연구(예를 들면, 몇 시에 이용자가 많은가? 어떤 종류의 책을 어떤 계충에서 많이 보는가? 도서 및 잡지가 어떻게 양적으로 성장해 왔는가? 등등의 use study)와 함께 여기서 제시한 제3의 요소인 이용자의 인식(cognition)을 시스템설계에 반드시 도입을 해야만 한다고 본다(user-centric approach). 즉 이용자를 중간 중간에서 도울 수 있는 facilitator가 많이 제공되어야 한다. 이용자의 다양한 패턴의 정보요구(information needs)에 부응할 수 있고, 질문식(query)을 잘 만들 수 없는 이용자를 도울 수 있고(ASK hypothesis: Anomolous State of Knowledge), 어떤 질문식 없이도 자유스럽게 Browsing할 수 있는(예를 들면 hypertext) 시스템을 설계하기 위해서는 눈에 보이는 이용자의 행동패턴(external behavior)도 중요하지만 우리 눈에는 보이지 않는 이용자의 심리상태를 이해한다면 훨씬 나은 시스템을 만들 수 있다. 이용자가 '왜?' '어떤 상황에서,' '어떤 목적으로,' '어떻게,' 정보를 검색하는지에 대해서 새로운 관심을 들려서 이용자들이 얼마나 우리 시스템 설계자들의 의도에 미치지 못한다는 사실을 인식 해야한다. 이 분야의 연구를 위해서는 새로운 paradigm이 필수적으로 필요하다고 본다. 단지 'user-study'만으로는 부족하며 새로운 시각으로 이용자를 연구해야 한다. 가령 새롭게 설치된 computer-assisted system에서 이용자들이 어떻게, 그리핀 어떤 분야에서 왜 그렇게 오류 (error)를 범하는지 분석한다면 앞으로의 computer 시스템 선계에 큰 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 믿는다. 실제로 많은 방법이 개발되고 있다. 그러면 시스템 설계자가 가졌던 이용자들이 이러 이러한 방식으로 정보검색을 할 것이라는 예측과(즉, conceptual model) 실제 이용자들이 정보검색을 할 때 일어나는 행동패턴 사이에는(즉, mental model) 상당한 차이점이 있다는 것을 알게 될 것이다. 이 차이점을 줄이는 것이 시스템 설계자의 의무라고 생각한다. 결론적으로, Computer에 대한 새로운 지식과 함께 이용자들의 인식을 연구할 수 있는, 철학적이고 방법론적인 연구를 계속하나가면서, 이용자들의 행동패턴을 어떻게 시스템 설계에 적용할 수 있는 지를 연구해야 한다. 중요하게 인식해야할 사실은 구 Paradigm을 완전히 무시하라는 것은 아니고 단지 이용자에 대한 새로운 인식을 추가하자는 것이다. 그것이 진정한 User Study가 될 수 있는 길이라고 생각하며, 컴퓨터와 이용자 사이의 '원활한 의사교환'이 필수불가결 한 지금 우리 학문이 가야 할 한 연구분야이다. 'Colonial Public-ness' during the Period of Japanese Forced Occupation ('식민지적 공공설'과 8.15 해방 공간)

  • A tendency to ignore the existence of public space in Korea under the Japanese colonial period seems to be driven from nationalist historiography in which all historical events under the colonial power have to be interpreted in terms of militant controls and resistances against them. Historical approach to mass media of that period has lasted to be saturated with the tendency and forced history students to stick to the nationalist guidelines. Struggles against Japanese imperial power by national-capital-operated newspaper have been a main menu of studies on the period's communication. The media were often hailed as fighting the colonial power for nation's independence. The present thesis aims to criticize the nationalist point of view and to reveal that nationalist interpretations may miss a variety of historical information. Even under the severe surveillance of colonial police some journalists tried either to inform officially or to smuggle into informed groups. The colonized society could experienced fields of public-ness throughout the practices of such as media fields, cultural fields, political fields. Those fields, of course, didn't come from the graceful favor of the colonial power but from the construction of the colonized. The public-ness seemed to be born for the easiness of control, but became later a constructed field of public-ness with which the colonized semiotically wrestled the power and grew a modern type of political (un)consciousness. Depicting what happened just before 815 liberation day in Korea the present paper showed that the less nationalist historiography can render help to those seeking political practices of the colonized in a micro-level.

  • The purpose of this study is to derive the characteristics of interaction design for each stage of content composition so that it can be referred to in the planning and production of virtual reality safety education contents. It was confirmed that each of the following interaction design features was found in the three configuration steps: acquisition of situation response procedure knowledge, accident situation experiential learning, and content confirmation and evaluation. First, it was revealed that the quality of experience was controlled by increasing the fidelity of behaviors and reducing general and repetitive behaviors in order to emphasize the educational content-related experiences in the learner experience stage. Second, in order for learners to easily recognize main interaction objects in order to acquire information on safe behavior procedures in unfamiliar environments, use of spatial UI or signifiers using arrows or symbols, posts that specifically instruct actions, and multisensory signals Therefore, it was found to be important to emphasize essential actions in a way that lowers the degree of freedom of user experience, and the proportion of non-realistic interactions for cognitive interactions was found to increase. Lastly, in the confirmation and evaluation stage of the experience, it is important to use the meta UI to alleviate negative experiences such as physical damage after experiencing a safety accident situation,

Critical Review and Alternatives to the Decriminalization of Tattooing (문신시술의 비범죄화에 대한 비판적 검토와 대안)

  • South Korean law strictly prohibits engagement in medical activities by non-medical practitioners. In the country, tattooing is classified as a medical practice, and non-medical practitioners who engage in it are penalized because they are unauthorized to carry out this procedure. In reality, however, people rarely seek tattooing services from medical personnel. Arguing that their freedom of job selection is violated, non-medical personnel who make a living as tattoo artists reject the characterization of the procedure as a form of medical treatment and demand the decriminalization of tattooing by non-medical practitioners. Nevertheless, tattooing can cause health- and hygiene-related dangers when it is not performed by medical professionals because it involves penetration into the skin using needles. Hence, stringent management is necessary for infection prevention. The gap between reality and the law gives rise to the need for proactive thinking about the institutionalization of tattoo practice by non-medical personnel. Policymakers should reflect on the fact that only minimal tattooing services are currently performed by medical staff while also accounting for health and safety. On this basis, this study examined tattoo-related legislation in South Korea to determine whether the procedure corresponds to medical practice and identify ways to solve problems that occur from the perspective of health care. As a response that promotes safety and reflects reality, this research proposed a three-phase approach.

An Importance-Performance Analysis of Location Selection Factors for International Distribution Center in Port Hinterland (IPA기법을 통한 항만배후단지 내 국제물류센터 입주결정요인 분석)

  • As a consequence of the changed role and functions in port operations, the role of port hinterland has transformed to multi-functional logistic centre linking more efficiently elements of the supply chain. This paper analysed distribution centre selection factors in Busan new port hinterland, aiming to diagnose and evaluate the operational situations of port hinterland as multi-functional logistics centre. Based on a data collected from all 122 samples located in Busan new port hinterland, determinants for location competitiveness identified were: political support, market potentiality, infrastructure utilization, market niche, and connectivity. Comparing the difference between an importance and performance, it is revealed that the target port hinterland requires urgent improvement in political supports such as incentive programmes offered by host country, free trade system and related law, financial assistance in constructing distribution centers, and simplicity, ease and efficiency of administrative procedures. The results provide useful insights for establishing future improvement strategies and a strategic agenda to successfully respond to the demands of the companies located in port hinterlands and/or new customers those who want to move in.

The Analysis of Biology in the 6th Middle School Science Textbooks based on Criteria for Selecting Curriculum Objectives (교육과정의 목표 설정 준거에 따른 제 6차 중학교 과학교과서 생물영역 분석)

  • This study is to make suggestion for developing textbook systematically by analyzing biological contents and organization in science textbooks which are important instructional media to accomplish objectives of the 6th middle school science curriculum. The inclusiveness degree of the 6th science educational objectives reflected in the textbooks was analyzed by Klopfer's and the Korean Educational Department's objectives taxonomy. And the biological contents and the organization of the science textbook were analyzed by learner, subject matter, and society dimensions which are selecting criteria for curriculum objectives suggested in Tyler's curriculum model. The analyzed results are as follows: 1. The inclusiveness degree of the educational objectives was very low. 2. Regarding the dimension of learner, the concepts of formal operational cognitive level were much increased as grade becomes higher. And the degree of learner's interests reflected on the learning topics and domains was very low. 3. Regarding the dimension of subject matter, the concept-centered learning was increased, in relation to inquiry learning as grade becomes higher. The analyzed results of inquiry subskills showed that observation, classification, and recording skills in 1st grade, observation and operation skills in 2nd grade, and interpreting data skills in 3rd grade were centered. As the problems and processes were presented, so most of inquiry activities had low openness scale. The learning contexts were organized into discipline-centered in relation to real life. 4. Regarding society dimension, the learning topics of environments and health were much presented. but those of biotechnology and career were presented scarcely. And most learning topics related society dimension were organized in textbooks of the 2nd and 3rd grade. These suggested that to accomplish curriculum objectives effectively. the inclusiveness degree of educational objectives is to increase and, the contents and organization of textbook were constructed harmoniously in aspects of learner, subject matter and society dimensions.
