Citing Pattern Analysis based on Cited-by Linking Data of DOI Journals in the Field of Natural Sciences & Engineering (Cited-by Linking 데이터 기반 자연과학 및 공학 분야 학술논문 인용 패턴 분석)

  • Cited-by Linking Service is one of the CrossRef's information services that allows you to discover how your publications are being cited and to incorporate that information into your online publication platform. This study tries to investigate citation patterns in the field of both Natural Science and Engineering using all of DOI assigned articles and Cited-by Linking data which are accumulated and managed by KISTI. The investigating approach is designed to verify the theory of 1) cognitive accessibility, 2) 'perceived quality and significance' and 3) 'subject relativity'. For cognitive accessibility verification the fulltext language portion of Korean and English between "Cited DOI Source Data" and "NOT Cited DOI Source Data" was compared. For perceived quality and significance verification the availability of the "Cited DOI Source Data" and "NOT Cited DOI Source Data" from SCIE and SCOPUS was employed. For subject relativity DOI data were classified and analysed on the basis of OECD subject classification scheme. Findings are that global citability is closely related to the fulltext language of the articles and their quality and significance. And in the natural science field most of citations are from the same subject categories, while relatively more citations are from other subject categories in the engineering field.

Application Effects of Out-of-class Chemical Experience Learning Programs on Scientific Process Skills and Science-Related Attitude for Middle School Students (교실 밖 화학체험학습 프로그램이 과학 탐구 능력과 과학 관련 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • purpose of this work was to study the applied effects of out-of-class Chemical Experience Learning (CEL) Programs on scientific process skills and science-related attitude for middle school students. The out-of-class CEL Programs which were developed to make the funny out-of-class chemistry and the exciting science class', included the nature-friendly chemical experiments suitable for natural environment and composed of real life-centered experiences. The out-of-class CEL programs were applied to natural environment through all-day improvement activity. The science club students in D middle school in Busan were selected as the objects of the study consisting of one experiment group and one control group. The out-of-class CEL programs were applied to the experiment group and traditional class method was applied to the control group. The change of scientific process skills and science-related attitudes between two groups were compared and analyzed. And students reaction on the out-of-class CEL programs was investigated. As a result, out-of-class nature-friendly chemical experiments were improved scientific process skills and science-related attitudes of middle school students. Also, more than 70% of students in the experimental group gave positive feedbacks to the out-of-class CEL programs and increased attention, interest, and degree of self-participation in science.

Planar microchip-based lactate biosensor (평면 소자형 락테이트 바이오센서)

  • Two electrode-based lactate biosensor was prepared by immobilizing lactate oxidase (LOD) obtained from pediococcus species in a poly(vinyl alcohol). Hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$) produced by the reaction of lactate and LOD was detected on the Pt-black that was electrochemically deposited on the Au electrode. Sensors fabricated with Pt-black deposited Au electrode provided a high current of $H_2O_2$ oxidation at a substantially lowered applied potential (+300 mV vs. Ag/AgCl), resulting in reduced interferences from easily oxidizable species such as ascorbic acid, acetaminophen, and uric acid. An outer membrane is formulated by adjusting water uptake of hydrophilic polyurethane (HPU). The sensor performance was evaluated in vitro with both flow-through arrangement and static mode. The sensor showed a linear range from 0.1 mM to about 9.0 mM in 0.05 M phosphate buffer (pH 7.6) containing 0.05 M NaCl. Storing the sensors prepared in this work at $4^{\circ}C$ buffer solution while not in use, they provided same electrochemical performance for more than 25 days.

  • 전국이‘조류 독감’이라는 낯선 전염병으로 몸살을 앓고 있다. 오리와 닭을 키우는 농가와 유통산업이 무너지고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 일반인들도 혹시나 우리에게 치명적인 전염병으로 번지지 않을까 두려움에 떨고 있는 것이 사실이다. 1년 전에 광동에서 번지기 시작했던 SARS(급성 중증 호흡기 증후군)과 미국의 광우병 소식을 채 잊기도 전이니 당연한 일이다. 일부에서는 물질 문명에 너무 젖어서 자연을 무시해왔던 현대 인류에게 내린 자연의 보복이 시작된 것이라고 호들갑을 떨기도 하는 모양이다.
