Truth of Mahāyāna Thought -The Controversy Between The Madhyamaka and The Yogācāra on Sunya and The two truth theories of Nāgārjuna (대승불교의 진리관 -용수(龍樹)의 공(空)과 이체설(二諦說)에 대한 중관학파(中觀學派)와 유지학파(唯識學派)의 논쟁을 중심으로)

  • The two school $M{\bar{a}}dhyamika$ and $Yog{\bar{a}}c{\bar{a}}ra$ act as a representative of $Mah{\bar{a}}y{\bar{a}}na$ Buddhism in India. But the two school disputed with each other insisting ${\acute{s}}{\bar{u}}nyat{\bar{a}}-v{\bar{a}}da$ and $vij{\tilde{n}}aptim{\bar{a}}trav{\bar{a}}da$ separately. To introduce the disputation shortly is as follow. $N{\bar{a}}g{\bar{a}}rjuna$ explained the world and truth by two truth theories(二諦說) which carry out truth of a word and the dimension(spiritual enlightenment) which is absolute(ultimate) to it being lokasaṁvṛtisatya(世俗諦) about the truth which can be expressed verbally, and which is phenomenon-like (everyday) at paramaarthasatya(勝義諦). By the way, lokasaṁvṛtisatya and paramaarthasatya are actually distinction of the recognition which is not an ontological distinction. That is, lokasaṁvṛti(世俗) is paramaartha(勝義) as it is the time of seeing by the eyes of those who have realized. The two truth theories of $N{\bar{a}}g{\bar{a}}rjuna$ was developed logical more precisely by his successors. With an everyday language, the position of Candrakīrti(月稱) that it cannot be expressed as the position of $Bh{\bar{a}}vaviveka$(淸辨) that paramaarthasatya can be expressed logically is opposed to each other, and dissociates by $Sv{\bar{a}}tantrika$(自立論證派) and $P{\bar{a}}rsagika$(歸謬論證派). Confrontation of $Sv{\bar{a}}tantrika$ and $P{\bar{a}}rsagika$ is the dispute about the ability of s which is the highest truth to be proved logically. The $P{\bar{a}}rsaga$ of Candrakirti thinks that people exist truly, and is because it claims not existing in the world where a favorite thing is actually actual. However, $Bh{\bar{a}}vaviveka$ proved Sunyata(空性)을 positively based on the reliance to language and logic. Also the mokṣa of $M{\bar{a}}dhyamika$ is not recovery of original condition of $vij{\tilde{n}}apti$ which is pure in itself as $Yog{\bar{a}}c{\bar{a}}ra$ saying, as well as obtaining a thing which is dravya-sat as $Sarv{\bar{a}}stiv{\bar{a}}din$ saying. The mokṣa of $M{\bar{a}}dhyamika$ means a condition of liberated from karma and pains through extinction of $prapa{\tilde{n}}ca$ and discrimination by realizing the real aspect of all dharma which is said by pratītyasamutpāda, $praj{\tilde{n}}apti$, niḥsvabhāva, ${\acute{s}}{\bar{u}}nya$, $madhyam{\bar{a}}pratipad$.

Magnetic Shielding with Thin Magnetic Materials near Power Cables (박판 자성 재료를 이용한 전력 케이블 인근의 자기장 차폐)

  • In this work, wrapping conductors with thin magnetic materials is proposed as a magnetic shielding method. The 0.1 mm thick metal sheets of mu-metal, grain-oriented electrical steel, and non-oriented electrical steel were produced from commercial alloy sheets through cold rolling and followed high temperature annealing. In case of 3-phase electric currents, mu-metal was the best in shielding performance at a B-field magnitude of about 100 ${\mu}T$, whereas silicon steels were better than mu-metal at a B-magnitude over 500 ${\mu}T$. In addition, wrapping with silicon steel(inner) together with mu-metal(outer) resulted in a shielding factor less than 0.1 even at 500 ${\mu}T$. These results are due to changes in hierarchy of magnetic permeabilities of the materials with increasing magnetic field strength. In case of single-phase electric current, B-magnitude outside the magnetic shell was rather increased compared to the unshielded case. This result is explained by vector composition of B-fields near magnetic shielding materials.

  • As dental implant treatment becomes popular for both partial and complete edentulous patients, old people with complex systemic diseases also tend to prefer implant-assisted-overdenture or implant-supported-fixed prostheses to conventional complete denture. In this case, 77-year-old female who was on medication for hypertension and osteoporosis and paralyzed on right side due to stroke visited for implant-assisted-overdenture on lower jaw. After oral and radiographic examination, root-assisted magnet overdenture on upper jaw and implant-assisted magnet overdenture on lower jaw are planned. Consequently, overdentures using self-adjusting magnetic attachment(SA) system on both jaws resulted in recovering satisfying function and retention, which is enable to insert and remove with only one hand.

  • This is the study of magnetic properties of transition metal doped diluted magnetic semiconductors(DMSs). The wurtzite structure samples were synthesized by the sol-gel method. The thermodynamic characteristics and magnetic properties of $Zn_{1-x}Co_xO$ single phase was investigated for different doping concentration (x = 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 10%, 15%). The property of diluted magnetic semiconductors has been comfirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electronic Microscope (SEM) and Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The magnetic properties of pure $Zn_{1-x}Co_xO$ is found to be dominated by the ferromagnetic interaction between doped transition metal ions, where by the ferromagnetic coupling strength is simply increased with the concentration(>5%) of the doped transition metal.

Synthesis of ferromagnetic Sm-Fe-N powders subjected to mechanochemical reaction (Mechanochemical Reaction에 의한 Sm-Fe-N계 자성분말의 합성)

  • Mechenochemical reaction by planetary type ball mill is applied to prepare $Sm_2$$Fe_{17}$$N_{x}$ permanent magnet powders. Starting from pure samarium and iron powders, the formation process of hard magnetic $Sm_2$$Fe_{17}$$N_{x}$ phase by ball milling and a subsequent solid state reaction were studied. At as-milled stage powders were found to consist of amorphous Sm-Fe and $\alpha$-Fe phases in all composition of $Sm_2$$Fe_{100-x}$(x = 11, 13, 15). The dependence of starting composition of elemental powder on the formation of Sm-Fe intermetallic compound was investigated by heat treatment of as-milled powders. When Sm concentration was 15 at%, heat-treated powder consists of mostly $Sm_2$$Fe_{17}$$N_{x}$single phase. For synthesizing of hard magnetic $Sm_2$$Fe_{17}$$N_{x}$ compound, additional nitriding treatment was carried out under $N_2$gas atmosphere at $450^{\circ}C$. The increase in the coercivity and remanence was parallel to the nitrogen content which increased drastically at first and then gradually as the nitriding time was extended. The ball-milled Sm-Fe-N powders were expected to be prospective materials for synthesizing of permanent magnet with high performance.

Effects of Mn, Cr and Co on the Magnetic Properties of Fe-Ni Invar Alloys (Fe-Ni 인바합금의 자기적성질에 미치는 Mn, Cr 및 Co의 첨가효과)

  • The effects of Mn, Cr or Co addItion on the magnetic properties of Fe-Ni Invar alloys were investigated. The composition range of the three additives is up to 5wt%. In the temperature range of room temperature-$250^{\circ}C$, the variation of specific magnetization with the addition of Mn, Cr or Co in the Fe-Ni alloys except for 5wt% Co shows the phenomenon characteristics of the Invar effect, viz., the specific magnetization decreases very abrubtly with the temperature and the dependence of temperature on the specific magnetization is in the mixed form of $T^{3/2}$ and $T^{2}$. In the room temperature, the amount of increase in the specific magnetization, Curie temperature and coercivity is in order of Co > Cr > Mn. In the case of 5wt% Co an anomalous phenomena were observed due to the occurrance of ferromagnetic $\alpha$ phase which reduces the invar effect.

Characterization of FePtN Nano-particles Synthesized by Thermal Decomposition and Mixed-gas Nitrification (열분해법과 혼합가스 질화법으로 합성한 FePtN 나노 입자의 특성)

  • The effect of thermal-nitrification on L1o transfomation in nano-sized FePt particles was studied. As-synthesized FePt nanoparticles by thermal decomposition method have fcc structured phase and their Hc and Ms were 247.34 Oe and 27.308 emu/g, respectively. According to the XRD analysis, phase transformation from fcc (face centered cubic) to fct (face centered tetragonal) structure was revealed by heating under $NH_3+H_2$ mixed-gas atmosphere. Also a slight shift of each (111) peak indicated phase transformation from fcc to fct structure. Hc and Ms of fct FePtN were 1058.2 Oe and 32.718 emu/g, respectively. The nano-sized FePtN magnetic particles synthesized by thermal decomposition method and mixed-gas nitrification are expected for advanced applications such as high density magnetic recording media and biomedical materials.

Study of Mössbauer Spectroscopy for Iron Oxides Synthesized by Pulsed Wire Evaporation (PEW) (전기선폭발법으로 제조된 철산화물의 뫼스바우어분광연구)

  • Iron-oxide nanopowders were synthesized by a pulsed wire evaporation (PWE) in various ambient gas conditions. SEM measurement indicates that the spherical iron nanoparticles are about 50 nm in diameter. The phase analysis for the produced iron-oxide powders was systematically investigated by using $M\ddot{o}ssbauer$ spectra and the results show that classified phases of $Fe_2O_3$ and $Fe_3O_4$ can be controlled by regulating the oxygen concentration in the mixed gas during the PWE process. A quadrupole line on the center of $M\ddot{o}ssbauer$ spectrum represents the superparamagnetic phase of 12 % from ${\gamma}-Fe_2O_3$ phase.

Magnetic Properties of $Nd_{x}Fe_{77}B_{23-x}(4 Melt-Spun Alloys ($Nd_{x}Fe_{77}B_{23-x}(4 급속응고 합금의 자기특성)

  • $Nd_{x}Fe_{77}B_{23-x}(x=4,\;6,\;8,\;11,\;13)$ alloys were prepared by rapid quenching technique. They were crystallized at higher than $650^{\circ}C$ and subsequently the magnetic properties were investigated The melt-spun alloy of x=8 consisted of nearly single metastable compound $Nd_{2}Fe_{23}B_{3}$ and showed the soft magnetic property. In $8{\leq}x{\leq}13$ alloys, the coercivities were increased according to the increase of Nd content but the remanences decreased. In $4{\leq}x{\leq}6$ alloys, the coercivities and the remanences were increased by lowering Nd content. In x=4 alloy, the ratio of soft to hard magnetic phase was 70:30 and the energy product was $96kJ/m^{3}(12MG.Oe)$.

  • $TiO_2$ as a raw material for producing titanium can be produced by carbon reduction of natural ilmenite ores over 1823 K and acid leaching of the obtained titanium-rich slag. However, the conventional process can cause very high energy consumption and a large amount of leaching residues. In the present study, we proposed the sulfurization of $FeTiO_3$ with $Na_2SO_4$ at temperatures below 1573 K, which can separate Fe in $FeTiO_3$ as the FeS based sulfide phase and Ti as the $TiO_2-Na_2O$ based oxide phase. This study is a fundamental study for sulfurization of $FeTiO_3$ to investigate the influence of reducing atmosphere, reaction temperature and the sulfur/Fe ratio on the separability and distribution behaviors of of Fe, Ti, and Na between the oxide phase and the sulfurized phase. At 1573 K and carbon saturation condition, the Fe can be separated from $FeTiO_3$ as Fe-C-S metal and a part of FeS, and the concentration of Fe in oxide decreased to 4 mass% after sulfurization.
