The Closed-form Expressions of Magnetic Field Due to a Right Cylinder (원통형 이상체에 의한 자력 반응식)

  • Herein, the closed-form expressions of the magnetic field due to an axially symmetric body such as a right cylinder, are derived. The magnetic field due to a right cylinder is converted from the gravity gradient tensor using Poisson's relation; the magnetic field induced by a constant magnetization can be obtained from the gravity gradient tensor with a constant density. Because of the axial symmetry of the cylinder, the expressions of gravity gradient tensor are derived in cylindrical coordinate and then transformed into Cartesian coordinates for the three components of the magnetic field using an arbitrary magnetization direction.

  • We have developed a new torque magnetometric method for measuring the M-H hysteresis loop of a spheroid-shape magnetic material having a uniaxial anisotropy. Our torque magnetometric method gives the saturation magnetization as well as the remnant magnetization, simultaneously. A torque magnetometer having the torque sensitivity of $10^{-6}$ dyn cm could give the extreamly high sensitivity of $10^{-9}$ emu in measuring the magnetic moment, which is high enough to measure the magnetic moment of a monolayer Ni film. The accuracy of the present method was negligibly affected even at the applied fields near the coercivity where magnetization was inhomogeneous.

Conversion of 3-Component Magnetic Data into Geodetic Coordinate System by Using Clinometer and GNSS Compass (경사계와 GNSS 나침반을 이용한 3성분 자력 탐사자료의 측지 좌표계로의 변환 방법)

  • This study proposes a method to correct inclination of instrument during exploration with a biaxial clinometer and GNSS compass. In 3-component magnetometry, measured vectors are ordinarily described in randomly inclined observation coordinate system due to movement, vibration, and shaking of instrument. Therefore, rotation angles of observation plane are needed to transform it into geodetic coordinate system. In this study, we measured inclination angles of observation plane by using 2-axis clinometer and GNSS compass, and derived proper parameters for rotational transform from them. We applied the conversion method to on-board 3-component magnetometry, and then transformed raw data into proper values on geodetic coordinate system.
