A study of stability at the head of a breakwater with directional waves (방향성 파랑의 입사에 따른 이안제 제두부의 안정성에 관한 기초적 연구)

  • The failure at the head section of rubble-mound detached breakwaters is more important than other failure modes. because this initial failures will occur the failure of the trunk section and lead to the instability of the structure. The three-dimensional failure modes are discussed using the experimental data with multi-directional waves considering the failure modes occurring around the head of the rubble-mound detached breakwater. The spacial characteristics of failure mode around the rubble-mound structures can be summarized as follows: 1) It was clarified that the failure modes at the round head of a detached breakwater are classified as failure by plunging breaker on the slope, failure by direct incident wave force and failure by scouring at the toe of the detached breakwater. 2) The failure mode was found in the lower wave height than the design wave by the breaker depth effects. It is clarified that the structure monitored was safely designed for the design wave but the failure was occurred by the reason of breaker waves and scouring processes at the toe 3) It was observed that scouring at the toe developed in the region where steady stream due to vorticity was generated and the spatial variation of scour at the toe of the round head was predominated by incident wave direction.

Design Characteristics of Tapered Directional Couplers in Optical Communication (광통신용 테이퍼 방향성 결합기의 설계 특성)

  • Recently, various simplified simulation techniques such as firite-difference beam propagation method and non-orthogonal coupled-mode theory have proposed to analyze the optical characteristics of tapered directional couplers supported by the coupling of two propagating modes. Although these approaches are often in sufficiently accurate, they do not provide the detailed solutions encountered in the analysis of tapered guiding structures. For this purpose, we introduce and utilize a newly developed modal transmission-line theory to analyze rigorously power transfer of the directional coupler. The numerical result reveals that the propagation constants of even and odd modes converge to a single value as increasing the spacer thickness between two symmetric tapered guides. Furthermore, 97% of the power incident into a guiding channel is transmitted to the other channel at the tapered angle ${\theta}=0.1^{\circ}$, and the efficiency of power transfer decreases dramatically as increasing the angle.

  • The effective reflection coefficients for light obliquely incident upon a substrate coated with uniaxially anisotropic films and with isotropic films are derived. Multiple reflections inside anisotropic films, as well as those inside isotropic films, are properly treated. These expressions, together with the related ellipsometric expressions, can be used to find the nonuniform distribution of an uniaxially anisotropic film perpendicular to the film's surface, by approximating it as consisting of uniaxially anisotropic uniform layers and applying the conventional modeling technique for spectroscopic ellipsometry.

The Study of Aliasing and Incidence Angle Dependence of Doppler Image on Humeral Artery (상완동맥 Doppler 영상의 입사각 의존성과 Aliasing에 관한 연구)

  • Among methods to eliminate aliasing effects, the method of increasing velocity scale gradually eliminated the phenomenon in which the direction of the blood flow appeared in reverse. It was done by increasing the velocity scale while maintaining other parameters in the same state. The method of setting the Doppler angle to $0^{\circ}$ did not show significant changes in the wave pattern of the spectrum according to the angle. In actual ultrasonography tests, more accurate tests are expected to be carried out by applying variations to the velocity scale under the considerations of speed, accuracy, and convenience of the examination. The results showed that blood flow velocity increases exponentially according to the Doppler Angle. When the angle goes over $70^{\circ}$, the velocity value increases to an unmeasurable state. This indicates that in blood flow velocity measurements, the blood flow velocity is very dependent on the Doppler Angle. It also shows that the error increases when the incidence angle to the direction of blood flow exceeds $60^{\circ}$, and when the angle exceeds $70^{\circ}$, the error becomes even greater. In addition, he experiment results showed that an angle below $60^{\circ}$ is appropriate and for blood flow velocity measurements in extremity vessels, the most appropriate Doppler Angle is from $45^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$.

  • This paper is estimating a target direction of arrival with incident to receiver in spatial. This paper presented covariance using constraint matrix to correlation interference signal cancellation in multi input multi output array antennas system. we proposed a target direction of arrival estimation algorithm using cost function and minimum variance method. Through simulation, we were analysis a performance to compare general SPT-LCMV algorithm and proposal algorithm. We showed that proposal algorithm improve more target estimation than general SPT-LCMV algorithm in direction of arrival.

A Comparative Study of Potential Job Candidates' Perceptions of an AI Recruiter and a Human Recruiter (인공지능 인사담당자와 인간 인사담당자에 대한 잠재적 입사지원자들의 인식 비교 연구)

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) is already being utilized in certain personnel selection processes in organizations; AI will eventually make even final decisions for personnel selection. The present study investigated potential job candidates' perceptions of an AI recruiter by comparing the selection procedures carried out by an AI recruiter to those carried out by a human recruiter. For this study college students in South Korea were recruited. They were each shown one of two recruitment scenarios (human recruiter vs. AI recruiter; between-subject design) followed by questionnaires measuring their satisfaction with the selection procedures and procedural justice, their trust in the recruiter, and their belief in a just world. Results show that potential job candidates were more satisfied with the selection procedures used by the AI recruiter than the human recruiter; they perceived the procedures as fairer than those used by the human recruiter. In addition, potential job candidates' trust in the AI recruiter was significantly higher than their trust in the human recruiter. This study also explored whether potential job candidates' perceptions of the AI and human recruiter were contingent upon their beliefs in a just world. The present study suggests a direction for future research.

Improved design of a directional coupler by a novel concept (방향성 결합기의 성능 및 허용오차 개선을 위한 신제안)

  • We propose a novel design concept to improve extinction ratio by minimizing $Cv_e-Cv_o$ . Improvements of loss and fabrication error limit are also obtained by this hybrid design of the lateral shift and curved waveguide to control transfer coefficients, $Cv_e and Cv_o$ . The concept of lateral shift merges two transfer coefficients, and additional curved waveguide controls mode profile asymmetrically to help this minimizing effect of $Cv_e-Cv_o$ with no serious decrease in transfer efficiency. For a given InP based waveguide structure, the mode propagation analysis with an effective index approximation provided a calculational improvement of extinction ratio to -39 dB and fabrication error limit to $57.19\mu\textrm{m}$, with a structure design of $300\mu\textrm{m}$ waveguide curvature and $0.1\mu\textrm{m}$lateral shift. shift.

  • 1962년 Armstrong 등에 의해 second harmonic generation(SHG) 의 이론이 완성된 후 SHG 효율을 높이기 위한 방법으로 비선형성이 큰 물질의 개발과 더불어 위상정합(phase matching)을 만족시키는 여러가지 방법이 연구 되었다. 특히 위상정합의 경우 지금까지는 복굴절을 이용하는 방법이 널리 사용되었으나 이 경우 입사광의 파장이 제한적이고, 많은 무기물 결정에서 비선형광학계수의 가장 큰 텐서 성분인 $d_{zzz}$를 사용할 수 없다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 반면 유사위상정합(Quasi-phase matching:QPM) 은 비선형광학계수( $d_{zzz}$)의 방향을 결맞음 길이(coherence length)마다 분극반전 시켜주어 2차 조화파의 진폭을 길이방향으로 계속 증가시키는 방법으로 구역반전된 길이를 조절하면 거의 모든 파장에 대해 비임계 위상정합( $d_{zzz}$ 사용)이 가능하고, 2차 조화파가 기본파의 전파경로에서 벗어나는 walk-off 현상이 없어 SHG 전환효율을 극대화할 수 있다.   • This paper describes how the directivity pattern of the scattered sound pressure is distributed when a plane acoustic wave is incident on a rigid or soft spherical shell underwater. A coupled Finite Element-Boundary Element method is developed as a numerical technique. The result of the coupled FE-BE method is agreed with theoretical solution for algorithmic confirmation.

  • Polarization characteristics of a composite film composed of two optically anisotropic films are analyzed. The procedure to determine the effective optics axis and the equivalent retardation of the composite film is suggested in conjuction with the related ellipsometric expressions. The explicit expressions of the effective optic axis and the equivalent retardation of a non-uniform anisotropic film are derived when all optic axes are parallel. Those expressions of the composite film where optic axes of two constituting anisotropic films are not parallel are also derived. Dependence of those expressions on the polarization state of the incident light or the azimuth angle of the linearly polarized light and their limit when applied to practical use are discussed.
