  • purpose: In addition to evaluating the quality of sleep of college students, the effect on non-face-to-face online learning satisfaction is identified and used as basic data for improving the quality of remote lectures. Methods: From June 1 to June 24, 2022, a self-entry survey was conducted on students enrolled in the dental hygiene department of D University in Daegu. To evaluate the non-face-to-face online learning satisfaction and sleep quality of the study subjects using the lBM SPSS Statistics 21 program, ANOVA analysis was conducted on the difference between individual stress levels and non-face-to-face online learning satisfaction. The correlation between sleep quality, stress, and non-face-to-face online learning satisfaction was analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The lower the quality of sleep, the higher the stress, resulting in statistically significant results (p<0.001). The higher the quality of sleep, the higher the learning satisfaction, resulting in statistically significant results (p<0.001). There was a statistically significant positive correlation between learning satisfaction and stress (r=0.591, p<0.01). Conciussions: Through the above results, in order to improve the satisfaction of non-face-to-face online learning, it is necessary to manage the individual's learning environment and health to relieve stress. Instructors also need to communicate with learners and apply teaching methods considering learners' academic abilities.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in health belief related to vaccination among dental hygiene students, identify the factors affecting hepatitis B vaccination, and provide basic data for health education concerning hepatitis B prevention. Hepatitis B vaccination was positively correlated (r=0.179, p=0.003) with seriousness of believing that hepatitis B would affect psychological, physical, and social activities and negative correlation (r=-0.183, p=0.002) was also found between perceived barriers related to hepatitis B. As for the factors affecting hepatitis B vaccination, juniors were 0.39 times (95% confidence interval [CI]=0.21, 0.71) more likely to have it affected than seniors and those who were more serious, and who had greater barriers were more likely to have it affected-1.80 times (95% CI=1.29, 2.52), 0.61 times (95% CI=0.41, 0.90) respectively (p<0.05). It is therefore urgent to develop a program within a curriculum that can begin with freshmen along with specific education with the objective of obliging dental hygiene students to receive hepatitis B vaccination. It is also necessary to provide consecutive sessions of education rather than one-time education and to develop a specific plan for obligatory hepatitis B vaccination through correct and thorough education.

For this, mailed correspondence examination was conducted with questionnaire for dental hygienists who are engaged in dental hygiene duties at dental clinics in Seoul between June 19 and July 24, 2008. Total 180 questionnaires were distributed, and among these, 156 questionnaires were included in analysis except for 24 questionnaires having incomplete answers. The findings of this study are as follows: 1. The total mean of dental hygienists' job stress was found to be 3.46 points out of 5 points, and that of their job satisfaction to be 2.99. 2. For relation between general characteristics and job stress of dental hygienists, significant difference was found just in the motive to select dental hygienist (p < 0.001) and the expected period of engagement in dental hygienist duties (p < 0.05). 3. For relation between general characteristics and job satisfaction of dental hygienists, significant difference was found just in job experience(p < 0.05), current position (p < 0.05), average salary (p < 0.001), and the expected period of engagement in dental hygienist duties (p < 0.01). 4. For correlation between job stress and job satisfaction, negative correlation was shown generally (r=-0.222), such that the more was job stress, the less was job satisfaction. 5. As a result of multiple regression analysis to look into the job stress factors influencing dental hygienists' job satisfaction, it was found that the factors of excessive workload(p < 0.05) and improper treatment(p < 0.01) most influenced job satisfaction, and the descriptive power on the job stress factors influencing their job satisfaction was found to be 24.1%.

  • The demand for medical care and welfare for patients with disabilities is expanding, and healthcare professionals are also increasingly interested in the need for medical care for patients with disabilities. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the competency of disabled patients' management and the education experience of dental hygiene students, who are the main players of oral health care for disabled patients. A total of 196 students in the dental hygiene department and 3rd and 4th grade students were surveyed using questionnaires. As a result, most of the students had a positive awareness of disabled patients; 84.7% answered with the need to train dental hygienists in specializing in handicapped patients, 76.5% were willing to attend seminars related to disabled patients after graduation, and 71.4% of the students provided dental treatment for patients with disabilities in curriculum and comparative curriculum. The students who provided treatment for disabled patients showed that their competence in most areas of knowledge of disabled patients, oral health education, and oral disease prevention was highly evaluated as significant. The competence of respondents who answered that the theoretical education was sufficient was significantly higher. Based on this, institutional support for the education of dentistry for disabled patients is needed, and sufficient theoretical education and practical training should be offered to foster personnel capable of contributing to the improvement in the oral health of patients with disabilities. In addition, in-depth discussions on the training of dental hygienists specialized in handicapped patients should be conducted.
