The Influence of Self-efficacy, Incivility, Career identity on Nursing professionalism in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자기효능감, 임상실습에서 경험하는 무례함, 진로정체감이 전문직관에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this study was to identify relationship among self-efficacy, incivility, career identity and professionalism in nursing students. The subjects were 320 junior and senior nursing students from four colleges in Gyeonggi-do. As a result of the study, the average self-efficacy was 3.90 points, incivility was 2.36 points, career identity was 2.64 points, and nursing professionalism was 3.63points. Professionalism of nursing students was positively correlated self-efficacy, career identity, but nursing professionalism was negatively correlated incivility. The predictors on nursing professionalism were self-efficacy, incivility, career identity and rudeness. These variables have explanatory power of 16.3% on nursing professionalism. Therefore, specific strategies are needed to reduce the rudeness experienced in clinical practice and change in the curriculum to increase the career identity of nursing students.

The Relationship of Self-Directedness, Clinical Practice Experiences and Clinical Practice Satisfaction (간호대학생의 자기주도성, 간호활동경험 및 임상실습만족도간의 관계)

  • This study was conducted to describe the relationship of Self-Directedness, Clinical Practice Experience and Clinical Practice Satisfaction of Nursing students. The participants were 223 nursing Students in K City who were surveyed using self report questionnaires from December 5 to December 20 and the data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0. There was a significant positive correlation among Self-Directedness, Clinical Practice Experiences and Clinical Practice Satisfaction. The predictors influencing Clinical Practice Satisfaction for Nursing students were Self-Directedness, Clinical Practice Experience and the factors explained 27.8% of Clinical Practice Satisfaction. The results of this study provided a foundation to develop efficient Clinical Practice program to improve Clinical Practice Satisfaction of Nursing students.

Exposure to Violence and Coping Behavior during the Clinical Practice of Nursing Students (임상실습 중 간호대학생의 폭력 경험과 대처 행동)

  • This study was conducted to investigate violence experiences and coping behaviors of nursing students when they were doing clinical practice. Data were collected from 250 nursing students from 10th of November to 10th of December in 2014 using questionnaires. 231 questionnaires were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. 98.7% of the subject have experienced violence. Most frequently mentioned setting where violences were experienced was psychiatric unit, abusers were patient. Most frequent violence type was verbal abuse(97.4%) followed by physical threatening(76.2%). Most frequent coping behavior was enduring(87.8%) followed by avoiding(83.2%). In this study, most of nursing students experienced violence during the clinical practice. They need to be better protected from violence during the clinical practice. It is needed various active effort and programs to prevent violence and to help students cope more against violence in their practice.

Relationship between Degree of Clinical Satisfaction and Experience on Performance for Dental Hygiene Students (치위생(학)과 학생들의 임상만족도와 수행경험과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between degree of satisfaction and experience on performance in accordance with the characteristics for the dental hygiene students. Dental hygiene students to 480 people from November to December 2014 and analyzed by conducting a survey. The higher grade students were more satisfied with the degree of satisfaction on experience for clinical test performance and clinical practice organization rather than the lower grade students. Also, the degree of satisfaction on major for the higher grade students has been shown as relatively higher than the lower grade students. The factors that affecting the experience for clinical performance and the degree of satisfaction for clinical practice were shown as grade, satisfaction for major and period for practice. In order to enhance the degree of satisfaction on the clinical performance for students, it should be established the system for practice management considering the characteristics of clinical practice by relevant organizations. Also, the dental hygienist who is responsible for dental education should manage his/her practice for students actively. Meanwhile, the practice organization should improve and update the content of education through the consistent alliance with colleges continuously.

Survey and Improvement Scheme for Clinical Practice of Emergency Medical Technology Students in the Convergence Society (융복합 사회에서 응급구조(학)과 학생들의 임상실습 실태조사 및 개선방안)

  • This study aims to suggest the improvement plan for clinical practice after examining the reality and the situation of clinical practice of EMT students. Clinical practice is as important as right to a variety of job experience in the convergence society and heating up according to appearance of NCS. Subjects were 115 EMT students. Data were collected for Jun. 16-17(2016), and analyzed by SPSS v. 18.0. Sophomores, who experienced only ER have a negative view about their future job prospect. On the other hand, juniors, who experienced ER and 119 rescue team have not virtually changed the way they view their future job prospect, supposedly due to the halo effect of the 119 rescue team clinical practices. Both groups wish to have opportunities to experience diverse clinical practices. This study suggests that will help students have a positive view about their job prospects by providing clinical practice institutions and solve the problem of difficulty in getting jobs.

A Study of Convergence on Experiences of Clinical Performance and Self-Confidence of Core Basic Nursing Skills, Clinical Competence in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 핵심기본간호술의 임상수행경험, 수행자신감, 임상수행능력에 관한 융복합적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify experiences of core basic nursing skills(CBNS), self-confidence during clinical practice and clinical competence in 208 nursing students attending nursing department and understand which factor, either experiences of CBNS or self-confidence during clinical practice has an impact on clinical competence. Our research findings are as follows. There was a positive correlation between experiences of CBNS, self-confidence during clinical practice and clinical competence. The factor that had the biggest impact on clinical competence was self-confidence during clinical practice and the explanation power of both factors was 31.2%, based on multiple regression analysis. Based on these findings, nursing educate need to develop a curriculum to increase self-confidence during clinical practice in students.

A Convergence Study on the Changes of Awareness and Preference according to the Clinical Application Experience of Digital Intraoral Scanners in Dental Hygienists (디지털 구강스캐너 임상적용 경험에 따른 치과위생사의 인지도 및 선호도 변화에 관한 융합연구)

  • This study aimed to determine the changes of awareness and preference of dental hygienists according to the experience of using a digital intraoral scanner through a convergence study. Data collected by an online survey for dental hygienists in Busan, Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk were analyzed by SPSS 24.0 program. When dental hygienists had an experience of using a digital intraoral scanner, the awareness and preference of digital intraoral scanners were significantly higher. The experience of using a digital intraoral scanner showed a positive correlation with the clinical application experience of digital intraoral scanners; the clinical application experience of digital intraoral scanners, with the awareness of digital intraoral scanners; and the awareness of digital intraoral scanners, with the preference of digital intraoral scanners. In conclusion, the dental hygienist's experience in clinical application of digital intraoral scanners is expected to increase the awareness and preference, resulting in the improvement of dental hygienists' work ability. Therefore, it is believed that continuous education and learning about digital oral scanners are needed.

Comparison of the Graduate Medical School Student's Perception Structure about 'Happy Doctor' by Clerkship Experience (임상실습 경험에 따른 의학전문대학원생들의 '행복한 의사' 개념 인식 비교)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide direction of medical education by analysing medical school student's perception structure about 'happy doctor'. In particular, this study compared perception structure between two groups of students before clerkship and after clerkship. The subject of this study were 1~4 academic year students in medical school. Students' text about 'happy doctor' were collected by open-ended questionnaire and analyzed by using sematic network analysis. Based on the result of network analysis, perception structure of each groups were confirmed. The network of each groups have 'Professionalism' group including words such as 'patient', 'treatment', 'worthwhile' in common. Three groups, 'Professionalism', 'Quality of life' and 'Self-realization' constituted the before clerkship network. And five groups, 'Professionalism', 'Time with family', 'Balance between work and household', 'Interpersonal relationship', 'Physical and psychological health' constituted the after clerkship network. The results of this study is expected to contribute for developing the basic medical education curriculum for 'happy doctor'.

Structural Equation Model of Clinical Nurses' Willingness to Perform Basic Life Support (BLS) in South Korea (임상간호사의 기본소생술 수행의지에 관한 구조방정식 모형 분석)

  • This study was conducted to develop a model that explains the factors influencing the clinical nurses' willingness to perform Basic Life Support and to verify the appropriateness of the model. The participants were 550 clinical nurses working at a university hospital in Korea. The data were collected from self-reported questionnaires from October 2012 to February 2013. A total of 520 questionnaires were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 20.0 and Amos version 18.0 software packages. The results indicated that the clinical nurses' knowledge of basic life support had a direct impact and their clinical experience had an indirect impact on their willingness to perform basic life support at the scene. These variables together explained 19.5% of the variance in the nurses' willingness to perform Basic Life Support. The clinical experience was correlated significantly with knowledge (r=.61, p<.001). To increase the clinical nurses' performance of Basic Life Support, knowledge and clinical experience should be reinforced by continuous in-service education on Basic Life Support, considering the disease status of hospitalized patients.

Influencing Factors on Clinical Competency in Nursing Students who have Experienced non-Face-to-Face Clinical Practice (비대면 임상실습을 경험한 간호대학생의 임상수행능력에 미치는 영향 요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the influencing factors of satisfaction for clinical practice, critical thinking disposition on clinical competency in nursing students who have experienced non-face-to-face clinical practice. The participants in this study were 163 nursing students at four university. A on line survey was conducted from January 2021 to February, 2021. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, scheffé test, pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis by SPSS 22.0 version. The results of this study indicate that satisfaction for clinical practice, and critical thinking disposition have an influence on clinical competency in nursing students. The total explanation of clinical competency was 60.6%. Based on this, it is suggested to develop a program to improve clinical practice satisfaction and critical thinking tendency to increase clinical performance of nursing students who have experienced non-face-to-face clinical practice.
