This study attempted to identify factors affecting the clinical nurse's medication safety competence. Data collection was conducted with 154 nurses working in two tertiary general hospitals. Data were analyzed using by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis with SPSS 26.0 program. As a result of the study, medication safety competence had a statistically significant correlation with problem-solving ability and self-efficacy. The factors influencing medication safety competences were in order of self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, work pattern, and current site work experience, which together accounted for 64.7% of the total variance. Therefore, in order to improve the clinical nurse's medication safety competences, prioritizing the development of a program to enhance self-efficacy and problem-solving ability is required.

Background: This study was conducted to determine the level of job satisfaction and patient safety cultural activities for dental hygienists and to determine the relationship between job satisfaction and patient safety cultural activities. Methods: A survey was conducted on 214 dental hygienists, and data from the final 180 were analyzed. Job satisfaction consisted of a total of 20 questions, and patient safety cultural activities included a total of 25 questions. The survey was conducted on a 5-point scale. Results: The average job satisfaction score of the study subjects was 3.44 points. Among patient safety cultural activities, infection control had the highest average score (4.12 points) and radiation safety management had the lowest average score (3.10 points). Patients with less than 3 years of clinical experience (4.01 points) had higher patient safety culture activity scores than those with 3 to 10 years of clinical experience (3.72 points) and those with more than 10 years of clinical experience (3.69 points). The level of patient safety cultural activities was statistically significantly higher as age, less clinical experience, and job satisfaction increased (p<0.05). Conclusion: In the case of dental hygienists, patient safety cultural activities must be carried out throughout the entire work, so an active will to practice patient safety cultural activities is necessary. In order to improve the performance of patient safety cultural activities, it is necessary to adjust the workload of dental hygienists to improve job satisfaction and create a work environment in which they can focus on patient safety cultural activities.
Coccidioidomycosis is a common infectious disease in southwestern North America, which is caused by the soil fungus, Coccidioides immitis. Due to the mobility of the modem population, increasing numbers of cases are being diagnosed outside the endemic areas. Moreover, diagnosis in non-endenmic areas may be delayed or confused due to its rarity. Here we report a case of pulmonary coccidioidomycosis in an immigrant. The patient presented with unexplained pulmonary symptoms. A history of recent travel to or immigration from an endemic area may suggest coccidioidomycosis. In addition an early tissue biopsy is helpful in establishing this diagnosis.
Purposes: The purpose of this study is to analyze nurses' perception on the clinical career ladder system which was introduced to enhance the nursing capabilities in general hospital. Methods: Research data has been collected for approximately 30 days since March 28, 2017 from 171 nurses who had been involved in the clinical career ladder system, 177 nurses who had not participated, and a total of 348. Finding: The study results showed that nurses' perception on the cost effectiveness of clinical career ladder system is significantly different depending on the sex, age, program experience, personal stage in the clinical career ladder system and the individual's health condition. In addition, the nurses' willingness to pay for the clinical career ladder system was significantly associated with their department and the needs for the system. With adjusted age, gender, position, education and marital status, nursing competency was 8.71(95% Confidence Interval; 4.79 to 12.63) in the presence of system experience, but the perception on clinical career ladder system was 4.34(95% Confidence Interval; -6.84 to -1.84). Practical Implications: Based on the study results, we expect that more hospitals introduce the clinical career ladder system and also use these study results as basic data for securing excellent nurses.

In terms of annual regular holidays, it was found that dental hygienists in public health division mostly took 11 to 20 days off a year, while those in clinical division mostly took 1 to 3 days off a year. That is, the former group is significant different in annual holidays from the latter group. 4. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of mediating variables on the relationship between job stress and stress response. A survey was conducted to 243 clinical dental hygienists from January 15, 2013 to March 20, 2013 and the data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The subjects who worked in poor working environment, had high level of role conflict and overload and aggressive nature showed high stress responsivity (p<0.01). The variable that showed mediation effect on the relationship between job stress and physical discomfort, depression was shown to be personality type (p<0.05). Also, the variable that showed mediation effect on the relationship between job stress and turnover intention was social support (p<0.05). According to the results, personality type and social support were shown to be important parameters when it came to the relationship between job stress and stress response. Therefore, in order to reduce negative outcomes caused by stress, it is suggested to provide an educational opportunity on self-control management while increasing social support from the organizational and structural level. This study examined the relationships among patient safety competence, critical thinking disposition, problem-solving competence, and self-efficacy of clinical nurses to identify the factors influencing the patient safety competence. A convenience sample of 373 nurses working in 4 general hospitals in a Metropolitan area in Korea was selected. After obtaining IRB approval, data collection was done with a structured self-administered questionnaire from October 14th to November 4th, 2014. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS WIN 21.0 program. The participants showed a moderate level of patient safety competence ($3.75{\pm}0.37$), of critical thinking disposition ($3.43{\pm}0.27$), of problem solving competence ($3.54{\pm}0.30$), and of self-efficacy ($3.58{\pm}0.47$). The patient safety competence of the participants showed a significant correlation with the critical thinking disposition (r=.493, p<.001), problem solving competence (r=.616, p<.001), and self-efficacy (r=.475, p<.001). The significant factors influencing the patient safety competence were problem solving competence (${\beta}=.403$, p<.001), self-efficacy (${\beta}=.156$, p=.005), critical thinking disposition (${\beta}=.130$, p=.018), and having the experience of reporting patient safety accidents (${\beta}=.137$, p=.002). The results suggest that educational programs to enhance the critical thinking disposition, problem-solving competence, and self-efficacy would develop the patient safety competence of clinical nurses. In addition, more effort should be placed into reinforcing the patient safety competence by activating the report of patient safety accidents.

This study examined the influence of humanistic knowledge and occupational stress on the professional quality of life of clinical nurses. The data from 217 survey questionnaires collected from three general hospitals located in a metropolitan area from Jun 3 to 14, 2019 were used. The data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Scheffè test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression with SPSS Statistics 23.0 program. The findings revealed a positive correlation between compassion satisfaction and humanistic knowledge and a negative correlation with Burnout. Burnout had a negative correlation with humanistic knowledge and a positive correlation with occupational stress and secondary traumatic stress. Secondary traumatic stress showed a positive correlation with occupational stress. Burnout, satisfaction for nursing, and working period were significant variables of the compassion satisfaction with an explanatory power of 48.5%. Compassion satisfaction, secondary traumatic stress, satisfaction for nursing, marriage, and occupational stress were significant variables of burnout with an explanatory power of 68.8%. Burnout and income were significant variables of secondary traumatic stress with an explanatory power of 21.9%. Burnout was found to be a significant variable of not only compassion satisfaction, but also compassion satisfaction. Therefore, efforts are needed to make efforts to prevent burnout.
