The purpose of this study is to verify whether the data measured by the researcher and the smart shoe sensor data are the same or similar by performing the 6 - minute walking test and time up and go test after putting smart shoes on a normal person. Ten normal adult males participated. After wearing smart shoes, they performed a 6-minute walk test and a time up and go test. The results of this experiment show that the accuracy of the current sensor is high. The difference in the distance of the 6-minute walking test is that the difference is because the turning point, which is not calculated in the actual 30-m track, measures the distance. From this point of view, it can be seen that smart shoes measure more accurate distance and it is expected that various tests will be possible through smart sensors.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Side walking training on the balance (Functional Gait Assessment; FGA, Timed Up & Go Test; TUG) and gait (10 meter Walking Test; 10 mWT) of stroke patients. 28 stroke patients were randomly allocated to an experimental group(side walking Training) and control group(forward walking training) of 14 patients each. both groups received rehabilitative physical therapy for during 4 weeks. The experimental group was asked to participate in Side walking training for 20 minutes per day 3 times per week during 4 weeks. The control group was asked to participate in forward walking training for 20 minutes per day 3 times per week during 4 weeks. There were significantly increase by side walking training in outcome of the balance from the FGA was increase from 16.86 score to 18.64 score(p<.05), TUG was decrease from 26.03 sec to 22.43 sec(p<.05) and 10 mWT was decrease from 21.90 sec to 19.10 sec(p<.05), Therefore side walking training is to promote balance and gait in stroke patients will be able to offer useful training.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of backward walking training on the balance capability(Functional Gait Assessment; FGA, Timed Up & Go Test; TUG) and gait performance(10 meter Walking Test; 10 mWT) of stroke patients. Eighteen with stroke patients were randomly allocated to an experimental and contral group of nine patients each. both groups received general neurorehabilitative physical therapy for 45 minutes per day 5 times per week during 4 weeks. The experimental group also performed additional backward walking training for 20 minutes per day 3 times per week during 4 weeks. There were signicantly increase by backward walking training in outcome of the balance capability from the FGA was increase from $17.67{\pm}1.00scores$ to $19.22{\pm}1.00scores$(p<.05), TUG was decrease from $26.45{\pm}1.37sec$ to $23.28{\pm}1.35sec$(p<.05) and 10 mWT was decreased from $21.74{\pm}1.35sec$ to $18.33{\pm}1.10sec$ (p<.05). These result suggest that backward walking training for stroke patients is effective in improving balance capability(FGA, TUG) and gait performance(10 mWT).
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of kinesio taping on the pain and functional improvement of patients with degenerative arthritis. 40 female patients were participated in this study. To evaluate the effects of taping therapy we calculated pain, range of motion, and get up and go(GUG) test. The results were as follow: Pain of experimental and control group were significantly decreased after than before treatment, but there was significant difference between experimental and control group. ROM of experimental and control group were significantly increased after than before treatment, but there was significant difference between experimental and control group. Time of GUG of experimental and control group were significantly decreased after than before treatment, but there was significant difference between experimental and control group. And Steps of GUG was significantly decreased only experimental group. So we think that kinesio taping have effectiveness on the pain and functional improvement in patients with degenerative arthritis.

This study was to evaluate the effects of an action observation to improve on gait in stroke patients. Participants were randomly allocated to two groups: experimental (n=10) and control (n=10). Both groups were trained for 60 minutes, 6 times a week during 6 weeks by neuro-development treatment. Experimental group practiced additional action observation for 3 session 10 minutes per week 6 weeks. Both groups were evaluated by gait velocity, affected step length, non affected step length, affected stride length, non affected stride length, double support time, cadence, and timed up and go to test. There were significantly increased by action observation in outcomes of the gait performance from the gait velocity, affected side step length, affected side stride length, cadence, timed up and go test. In conclusion, the action observation improves gait performance in stroke patients. The results suggest that action observation training is feasible and suitable for individuals with hemiparesis patients.

The study was performed to determine the impact of the gastrocnemius taping with balance training on spasticity and balance ability of the ankle joint. A total of 25 stroke subjects were divided into two groups: a taping with balance training (n=14), a sham taping with balance training (n=11). Spasticity assesment was scored by modified ashworth scale. Balance ability assesment was performed by functional reach test (FRT), the timed up & go test (TUG). The stability index (SI), the left-right weight distribution (left-right WD), the toe-heel weight distribution (toe-heel WD) were analyzed in the eyes open conditions(EO) and eyes closed conditions(EC) conditions using by the Tetrax interactive balance system. The experimental group showed a significant improvement in SI, left-right WD and toe-heel WD in the EO and EC, MAS, FRT, TUG. In comparison between the groups, a significant improvement was detected in FRT, TUG, SI and left-right WD in the EO, and left-right WD and toe-heel WD in the EC. It was found out that a short period of balance training with taping is effective on spasticity and balance ability in stroke patients. Therefore, any stroke patient without skin damage is encouraged to use the gastrocnemius taping for balance rehabilitation.

The purpose of this study was to comparison the effects of aqua-and-land based obstacle training on balance of chronic stroke patients. Subjects were randomly divided into an aqua group(n=15) and d land group(n=15). Both group received obstacle training for 40 minutes, 3 times a week during 12 weeks. Static balance was assessed by measuring the mean velocity of mediolateral, anteroposterior and sway area with the eyes open using Good Balance System. Dynamic balance was assessed by measuring Functional Reaching Test(FRT) and the Timed Up and Go test(TUG). Following the intervention, both groups showed significant changes static balance(the mean velocity of mediolateral, anteroposterior and sway area) and dynamic balance(FRT and TUG). There were significant difference in the mean velocity of mediolateral, anteroposterior, sway area, FRT and TUG between the two groups after the interventions. The results of this study suggest that the aqua group and land group were increase balance functions of chronic stroke patients. The aqua group was significantly higher than the land group for patients with chronic stroke patients. We hope that aquatic training can be useful for patients with chronic stroke patients to improve balance functions and the aqua training research for improve balance functions will be conducted continuously.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of a participatory rehabilitation program on sit-rise and rise-to-walk test performances, and perception and motor skills in adults with medically vulnerable individuals and, adults with developmental disabilities in particular. Seventeen adults with developmental disabilities participated in a participatory rehabilitation program using resistance bands and exercise balls, for 60 minutes once weekly over 13 weeks. Their performances were measured before and immediately after the intervention, and 12 weeks after. The findings were as follows. In the sit-rise test, the number of times rising from sitting posture increased after the intervention versus before, but the difference was not statistically significant. In the rise-to-walk test, the performance showed statistically significant difference over time, and the post-hoc test showed a significant effect after the intervention versus before. There was no significant difference in perception and motor skills. In sum, the participatory rehabilitation program positively influenced dynamic balancing related to functional activities but had no significant effect on perception and motor skills, which is related to motor control and motor learning. It is suggested that to increase the participation in community activities, reduce fall risk, and improve dynamic balancing abilities in adults with developmental disabilities, participatory rehabilitation programs should be utilized to promote the physical wellbeing.
Balance is a complex motor skill that depends on interactions between multiple sensorimotor processes and environmental and functional contexts. Many rehabilitation specialists believe that balance assessment under multitask conditions may be a more sensitive indicator of balance problems and falls than balance assessment in a single-task context. Functional Gait Assessment has many tasks that allow for testing under multitask conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine the concurrent validity between the Functional Gait Assessment (FGA), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and Timed "Up & Go" Test (TUG) in patients with stroke. One hundred and five participants with at least 3 months post stroke and able to walk at least 6 m with or without a mono cane, participated in this study. Concurrent validity between the FGA, BBS, and TUG was assessed using Spearman rank order correlation. The FGA correlated with the BBS (r=.80, p<.01) and TUG (r=-.77, p<.01). The good and moderate correlation between the FGA, BBS, and TUG establishes the concurrent validity of the FGA in patients with stroke. These measures provide clinicians with valuable information about patients' functional balance capabilities.
The aim of this study was to identify influence that integrated PNF(IPNF) on sprinter and skater pattern exercise had an effect on static and dynamic balance in chronic low back pain elderly adult. The subjects of this study were 34 and they were divided into two groups: IPNF exercise group(n=17), swiss ball exercise group(n=17). They were measured static balance ability using Good Balance System (GBS) and dynamic balance ability using functional reaching test(FRT) and timed up and go (TUG) during pre and post exercise. The results of this study were significant differences in groups about pre and post static and dynamic balance tests the greater part(p<.05). There were significant differences in groups according to exercises(p<.05). The above results from this study indicated that integrated patterns of PNF have improved the static and dynamic balance ability. This study will be enough to provide the basic raw material using a integrated PNF.
