  • A general purpose program NUFLEX for the analysis 3-D thermo/fluid flow and pre/post processor in complex geometry has been developed, which consists of a flow solver based on FVM and GUI based pre/post processor. The solver employs a general non-orthogonal grid system with structured grid and solves laminar and turbulent flows with standard/RNG ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}\;SST$ turbulence model. In addition, NUFLEX is incorporated with various physical models, such as interfacial tracking, cavitation, MHD, melting/solidification and spray model. For the purpose of verification of the program and testing the applicability, many actual problems are solved and compared with the available data. Comparison of the results with that by STAR-CD or FLUENT program has been also made for the same flow configuration and grid structure to test the validity of NUFLEX.

A New Experimental Error Reduction Method for Three-Dimensional Human Motion Analysis

  • The Average Coordinate Referenee System (ACRS) method is developed to reduce experimental errors in human locomotion analysis. Experimentally measured kinematic data is used to conduct analysis in human modeling, and the model accuracy is directly related to the accuracy of the data. However. the accuracy is questionable due to skin movement. deformation of skeletal structure while in motion and limitations of commercial motion analysis system . In this study. the ACRS method is applied to an optically-tracked segment marker system. although it can be applied to many of the others as well. In the ACRS method, each marker can be treated independently. as the origin of a local coordinate system for its body segment. Errors, inherent in the experimental process. result in different values for the recovered Euler angles at each origin. By employing knowledge of an initial, calibrated segment reference frame, the Euler angles at each marker location can be averaged. minimizing the effect of the skin extension and rotation. Using the developed ACRS methodology the error is reduced when compared to the general Euler angle method commonly applied in motion analysis. If there is no error exist in the experimental gait data. the separation and Penetration distance of the femoraltibial joint using absolute coordinate system is supposed to be zero during one gait cycle. The separation and Penetration distance was ranged up to 18 mm using general Euler angle method and 12 mm using the developed ACRS.

  • To reconstruct 3- D shape, It is a common strategy to acquire multiple range Images from different viewpoints and integrate them into a common coordinates In this paper, we particularly focus on the registration and integration processes for combining all range Images into one surface model. For the registration, we propose the 2-step registration algorithm, which consists of 2 steps the rough registration step using all data points and the fine registration step using the high-curved data points For the integration, we propose a new algorithm, referred to as ‘multi-registration’ technique, to alleviate the error accumulation problem, which occurs during applying the pair-wise registration to each range image sequentially, in order to transform them into a common reference frame Intensive experiments are performed on the various real range data In experiments, all range images were registered within 1 minutes on Pentium 150MHz PC The results show that the proposed algorithms registrate and integrate multiple range Images within a tolerable error bound in a reasonable computation time, and the total error between all range Images are equalized with our proposed algorithms.

  • Color rendition method is necessary for improving the low contrast images which are achieved by PDA, mobile phone camera or PC camera. There are some methods for color rendition. However, after correcting the color, image quality degradations, such as graying-out, halo-artifact and color noise, may occur. In order to overcome these problems, this paper proposes a retinex-based color rendition method. The proposed method uses the HSV color coordinate system to avoid the graying-out, and the advanced image formation model to reduce the halo-artifact in which the image is divided into three components as the global illumination, the local illumination, and reflectance. The experiment results show that the proposed method yields better performance of color correction over the conveniently method.

Matching for Cylinder Shape in Point Cloud Using Random Sample Consensus (Random Sample Consensus를 이용한 포인트 클라우드 실린더 형태 매칭)

  • Point cloud data can be expressed in a specific coordinate system of a data set with a large number of points, to represent any form that generally has different characteristics in the three-dimensional coordinate space. This paper is aimed at finding a cylindrical pipe in the point cloud of the three-dimensional coordinate system using RANSAC, which is faster than the conventional Hough Transform method. In this study, the proposed cylindrical pipe is estimated by combining the results of parameters based on two mathematical models. The two kinds of mathematical models include a sphere and line, searching the sphere center point and radius in the cylinder, and detecting the cylinder with straightening of center. This method can match cylindrical pipe with relative accuracy; furthermore, the process is rapid except for normal estimation and segmentation. Quick cylinders matching could benefit from laser scanning and reverse engineering construction sectors that require pipe real-time estimates.

Development of Reference Epoch Adjustment Model for Correction of GPS Precise Point Positioning Results (GPS 정밀단독측위 성과의 보정을 위한 기준시점 조정모델 개발)

  • In this study, the epoch adjustment model was developed to correct GPS precise point positioning result to be suitable for the current geodetic datum of Korea which is tied at past epoch statically. The model is based on the formula describing crustal movements, and the formula is composed of several parameters. To determine the parameters, the data gathered at 14 permanent GPS stations for 10 years, from 2000 to 2011, were processed using GIPSY-OASIS II. It was possible to determine the position of permanent GPS stations with an error range of 16mm and the position of check points with an error range of 12mm by appling the model to GPS precise point positioning result. It is considered that more precise model could be calculated by using GPS data of more permanent GPS stations.

  • When applying a system identification technique, which incorporates an experimental model to a corresponding finite element model of a structure, one of the major problems is the large difference in the numbers of degrees of freedom (dof) between the two models. While there are large number of dofs in a finite element model, the number of measurement points is practically limited. So it is very difficult to incorporate them. Especially rotational dofs are hard to measure. In this study a method is presented for estimating structural dynamic responses at unmeasurable locations in frequency domain. The proposed method is tested numerically and the feasibility for practical application has been demonstrated through an example structure under moving loads, where translational and rotational dofs of beam at a center point are estimated from the partial measurements of responses at accessible points.

Computational Turbulent Models (난류유동의 계산모형)

  • 유체유동이나 열전달 그리고 물질전달 (물질의 혼합 및 확산) 또는 이들 현상이 복합적으로 나 타나는 각종 기계의 설계와 성능 해석을 하기 위해서는 그 현상을 지배하는 편미분 방정식들의 해를 수치적으로 구해야 한다. 유동 상태가 충류 유동인 경우는 지배 방정식의 수가 알고자 하는 미지변수 즉 속도, 압력, 온도, 농도 등의 개수와 같고 또한 이들 변수들의 변동이 그리 심하지 않기 때문에 적절한 수치 해법을 사용하면 그 해를 구할 수 있다. 그러나 난류유동의 경우에는 변수들이 시간상으로 또한 공간적으로 대단히 심하게 변동(fluctuation)하기 때문에 공 학적으로 우리가 원하는 정보들, 즉, 표면 마찰저항이나 양력, 얼전달 계수, 물질 확산계수 등을 현재 수준의 전자계산기로 계산하는 데는 계산시간이 엄청나게 소요될 뿐만 아니라 변수 저장 메모리도 과도하게 차지하기 때문에 실제적인 계산 방법이 되지 못하고 있다. 이러한 이유로 변수들의 순간 변화 상태를 나타내는 지배 방정식들을 해석하는 대신에 이들 지배 방정식의 시 간평균을 취하여 유도한 난류 방정식들을 사용하게 된다. 그러나 이 시간 평균 과정에서 파생 되는 또 다른 미지의 난류 변수들 때문에 난류 지배 방정식에 있어서는 그 지배 방정식의 개수 보다 미지 변수의 개수가 많아져서 난류 지배 방정식을 풀기 위해서는 시간평균 과정에서 나타난 난류 변수들을 원래 있던 미지 변수들의 함수나 방정식의 형태로 가정할 필요가 있게 되는데 이 가정되는 함수 관계들을 난류 계산 모형이라고 한다. 난류 계산 모형은 물리적인 통찰과 직관에 의해서 실용적인 형태로 가정되기도 하지만 최근에는 논리적으로 엄격한 모형 원칙에 따른 수 학적인 방법으로 유도되고 있는데 이 글에서는 일반 독자들이 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 마하수가 낮은 2차원 비압축성 난류 유동을 예로 들어 x-y 직교 좌표계에서 표현되는 난류 계산 모형들을 소개하고 앞으로듸 발전 방향을 개관하며 현재의 응용 사례들을 예로 들어 모형의 성능을 비교 하여 보기로 한다.

Numerical Study on Turbulent Flow in a Conical Diffuser (원추형 디퓨져 내의 난류운동에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • A turbulent flow in a conical diffuser with total divergence angle of 8.deg. was numerically studied. The low Reynolds number k-.epsilon. model(Launder-Sharma model) was adopted to simulate the turbulence. The continuity and time averaged Navier-Stokes equations in a nonorthogonal coordinate system were solved by a finite volume method based on the fully elliptic formulation. The low Reynolds number k-.epsilon. model reasonably simulates the pressure recovery and the mean velocity components. However, there are also considerable discrepancies between predicted and measured shear stress distribution on the wall and turbulent kinetic energy distributions. It is necessary to investigate the flow structure at the entry of the diffuser, numerically as well as experimentally.

Implementation of a Bubble Popping System for Educational Augmented Reality (교육용 증강 현실을 위한 버블 포핑 시스템 구현)

  • 가상 현실과 현실 세계가 공존하는 증강 현실은 현재 및 향후 실감미디어 콘텐츠에 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다. 증강 현실은 게임, 엔터테인먼트, 교육 분야 등에서 응용에 따라 다양한 기술들의 결합이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 교육적 효과를 주는 버블 포핑 증강 현실 기법을 제안한다. 버블 포핑 시스템은 비디오 입력용 웹캠, 마커 패턴 영상, 그래픽 구 버블 객체, 그래픽 마우스 등으로 구성된다. 일반 마우스의 이동에 따라 그래픽 마우스가 3차원 공간상에서 이동하면서 버블과의 충돌이 발생하게 되면, 충돌시 발생하는 버블의 이벤트로 동적 움직임, 터짐 등의 버블 효과를 구현할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 충돌 검출은 카메라와 마커 패턴의 좌표계 및 버블의 3차원 공간위치, 그리고 3차원 모델 데이터를 이용하여 구현한다. 제안 시스템은 ARToolkit을 기반으로 제작되었으며, 시각적인 마커 기반 시스템으로 버블의 움직임과 사용자의 인터랙션을 통해, 버블 포핑의 증강현실을 전달한다. 향후, 현재 개발 중인 포스 피드백 기능이 있는 진동촉각공간 햅틱 마우스와 접목하여 보다 실감적인 증강현실 기술을 개발할 예정이다.
