A Virtual Sculpting System using Haptic Interface (햅틱 인터페이스를 이용한 가상 조각 시스템)

  • We present a novel haptic sculpting system where the user intuitively adds to and carves out material from a volumetric model using new sculpting tools in the similar way to handling real clay Haptic rendering and model deformation are implemented based on volumetric implicit surface. We enhance previous volume-based haptic sculpting systems by presenting fast and stable force computation on 3D models to be deformed. In order to bridge the gap between fast haptic process (1 KHz) and much slower visual update frequency(~30Hz), the system generates intermediate implicit surfaces between two consecutive physical models being deformed. It performs collision detection and force computation on the intermediate surface in haptic process. The volumetric model being sculpted is visualized as a geometric model which is adaptively polygonized according to the surface complexity. We also introduce various visual effects for the real-time sculpting system including mesh-based solid texturing, painting, and embossing/engraving techniques.

Study on a Model-based Design Technique for Monitoring and Control of a Vehicle Cluster (자동차 클러스터의 감시 및 제어를 위한 모델기반설계 기법 연구)

  • This paper presents the development of a monitoring and control system for a vehicle cluster using a model-based design technique. For MBD(model-based design), MATLAB GUI(Graphic User Interface), M programs, simulink, state flow, and tool boxes are used to monitor a number of data such as warning, interrupts, and etc. connected to a real vehicle cluster. As a monitoring tool, a PC(Personal Computer) station interworks with the real vehicle cluster through the interface commands of tool boxes. Thus, unlike existing text-based designs, the MBD based vehicle cluster system provides very easy algorithm updates and addition, since it offers a number of blocks and state flow programs for each functional actions. Furthermore, the proposed MBD technique reduces the required time and cost for the development and modification of a vehicle cluster, because of verification and validation of the cluster algorithm on the monitor through a PC.

  • The EGI system is a new communication method in limelight for helping disabled users to input and handle information on the computer more easily. However, due to the EGI system's "JEM(Jittery Eye Movements)" generation, it actually increases heavy psychological and physiological stresses for the user to input or perceive the target information on a machine. This study illustrates how to resolve this "JEM" issue and suggests a method that is easy and simple to be controled by anyone. A demo tool was built and tested to find and prove the reasons for "JEM" This test shows that that the case with snap up is less stressful than without to input text as a final result of the test evaluation in both psychological snap up and physiological brain wave test. Postnatal or naturally acquired, it is found that the disabled can have opportunities for smoother communication, and a possible efficient system development for better communication.

  • 워크플로우 시스템은 한 조직체 내에서 운용되는 정보와 제어의 흐름을 효과적으로 자동화 해주는 역할을 담당해야 한다. 그러나 기업내의 실제업무에는 많은 변수들이 존재하고 다양하게 변화하고 있다. 또한 시스템이 분산 컴퓨팅화되어 가기 때문에 그 흐름을 추적, 관리의 차원을 넘어서 업무들의 최적화, 통합화는 물론 분산된 시스템내 서버들 관리까지도 개입을 해야한다. 또한 특정작업의 과부하 또는 병목현상을 운용자가 개입하여 방지하고 개선함으로서 전체 작업의 효율을 향상시켜야 한다. 이에 운용관리 툴도 독립 서버로 존재하는 것보다 여러 개의 서버로 분산시켜 구축함으로써 수행 객체들을 효율적으로 통제할 수 있다. 또한, 시스템을 구성하고 있는 서버들의 관리도 중앙에서 모든 것을 통제하는 것보다 각각의 분산된 운용 서버들이 각각 관리함으로써 신뢰성, 안정성의 한계를 극복할 수 있다. 국제표준기구 역할을 하고 있는 WfMC(Workflow Management Coalision)에서 제시한 표준 모델을 근거로 각각의 인터페이스 규약에 따라 시스템을 개발하는데 있어 실질적인 기업의 업무에 적용되기에는 턱없이 부족한 점들을 이 논문을 통해 지적한다. 또한 좀 더 빠르게 변화하는 사회에 적격인 적응형(Adaptive) 워크플로우 관리 시스템의 특성을 지니도록 했다. 그리고 데이터베이스의 트랜잭션의 개념을 워크플로우 레벨에서 업무들의 수행시 에러나 장애시 복구처리 메커니즘으로 설계하고 구현을 하였다.

A Study of Development ODBC Driver for Multimedia Data Processing (멀티미디어 데이터 처리를 위한 ODBC 드라이버 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The ODBC(Open Database Connectivity) is particularly efficient in the dynamic client/server environment. Besides, the ODBC provides the functions that can handle multimedia data. Due to this feature, we are able to use the DBMS that supports the ODBC as a multimedia server. In this thesis, we describe the development of the ODBC driver for Relational DBMS. The Relational DBMS ODBC Driver consists of the client module and the server module. The client module is called the SRM(Server Request Module) and the server module is CSM(Client Service Module). These two modules are connected through the network module called the NSM(Network Service Module). We have conducted both the functional and the interoperability test of our ODBC Driver It turned out that the ODBC driver operated with these client DBMS tools successfully. In all, due to our development of the Relational DBMS ODBC Driver, DBMS is now capable of processing multimedia data and supporting the client applications including the DBMS tools.

  • This paper presents a method of constructing the system-on-chip(SoC) based on embedded systems. The proposed method is more compact and effectiveness than former methods. The requirements generation start high level performance simulation and then passes to an executable specification suitable for implementation using a hardware/software co-design tool. The reuse of pre-exiting components is supported, as well as synthesis of the system interface, but only after much work is done to program the hardware/software co-design tool. The actual design flow described allows feedback among all design levels, e.g. from implementation up to requirements, throughout the process. In the future, it is necessary to development the advanced method of constructing system-on-chip based on embedded systems.

Development of Python-based Annotation Tool Program for Constructing Object Recognition Deep-Learning Model (물체인식 딥러닝 모델 구성을 위한 파이썬 기반의 Annotation 툴 개발)

  • We developed an integrative annotation program that can perform data labeling process for deep learning models in object recognition. The program utilizes the basic GUI library of Python and configures crawler functions that allow data collection in real time. Retinanet was used to implement an automatic annotation function. In addition, different data labeling formats for Pascal-VOC, YOLO and Retinanet were generated. Through the experiment of the proposed method, a domestic vehicle image dataset was built, and it is applied to Retinanet and YOLO as the training and test set. The proposed system classified the vehicle model with the accuracy of about 94%.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a virtual CG - based image production system for a simulator camera. The video production system proposed in this study is designed to synchronize the virtual camera of the graphic tool with the simulator camera at the shooting site and the CG application image editing, And can be easily and easily performed through a graphic tool by being controlled virtually through a control interface. Blaze Knights, an animation created by Dongseo University, was used to illustrate the superiority of the research results by comparing the progress and the amount of work before and after the application of the system. According to the results of the research, the CG artist's work efficiency is increased, while the physical constraint is minimized when the scene of the CG application image is minimized.   • The applications program that running on Operating System has high dependence. Because environment of OS and standard libraries that supports are different. For those reason, Applications that perform the same function should be implemented in accordance with the new operating system. This results in a temporal and economic waste not only in subsequent maintenance of application but also in management. Even though, to solve this problem Cygwin or MinGW has been distributed, they do not support the portability of the application but provide a virtual environment and the tool. Therefore, in this paper, we design the wrapper format interface middleware using the POSIX and standard C library to support the application performing the same function on virtual environment and without code modification. The middleware can be selectively loading the API that is classified by basic and extend. This allows to managing the application size efficiently. Also, perform the comparative experiments and performance evaluation for application, on equipped with the Interface Middleware Linux, Unix, Windows and on Cygwin.
