The Future Paradigm of VoIP Services (인터넷전화 서비스의 향 후 패러다임 제안)

  • It has been 10 years long since the emergence of Dialpad, the first commercial VoIP service from Saerome Technology launched on 1999. In spite of so many research papers and implementations of the VoIP and commercial services with hundreds of VoIP-related products vendors and tens of VoIP service providers during the last decade, the resulting market share of the VoIP callings at the year 2007 in Korea is just about 0.3%, which is extraordinary lower one than expected. There have been proposed several facts for the reason including the QoS issue and the incomplete governing system. In this paper we suggest that the reason is based on the sociocultural issue and further we assert and verify that it can never replace the existing legacy telephone system for the current VoIP service model, as long as the telecommunication companies continue the legacy telephone service. We also suggest the another choice, to upgrade the concept of the current VoIP service to a new paradigm based on SIP and presence service, while letting the legacy telephone system be as it is.

  • Internet telephony is an Internet service which supports voice telephone using VoIP technology on the IP-based Internet. It has some advantages in that voice telephone services can be accompanied with multimedia services such as video communication and messaging services. Recently, the introduction of smart phones has led to a growth in social networking services and thus, the research and development of Internet telephony has been actively progressed and has the potential to become a replacement for the telephone service that is currently being used. In this paper we designed and implemented an Internet telephony network system which is developed by using Asterisk and open source softwares. It is developed on the linux system and has some features such as VoIP telephony service between SIP phones, voice mail, and call recording. It also supports web-based functions such as SIP users and server system management that is implemented by Apache web server and PHP programs. Afterwards, this system will be applied as VoIP network base technology for small sized companies and organizations. It will paly a role for encouraging companies to use open source softwares.

  • Internet telephony is an Internet service which supports voice telephone using VoIP technology on the IP-based Internet. It has some advantages in that voice telephone services can be accompanied with multimedia services such as video communication and messaging services. Recently, the introduction of smart phones has led to a growth in social networking services and thus, the research and development of Internet telephony has been actively progressed and has the potential to become a replacement for the telephone service that is currently being used. In this paper we designed and implemented a recording system which records voice data of SIP-based Internet telephone's voice calls. It is developed on the linux system and has some features such as audio mixing of two in/out voice channels, live packet sniffing, and the ability to transfer mixed audio files to the log file server. These functions are implemented using various open source softwares. Afterwards, this VoIP recording system will be applied as a base technology to advanced services like a VoIP-based call center system.

  • 인터넷이 발달하고 VoIP 의 활성화로 인하여 사용자들은 인터넷 전화서비스의 통화품질에 대한 관심이 크게 증가하고 있다. 본 고에서는 인터넷 전화서비스의 단말에 사용하고 있는 음성 코덱의 품질 측정을 위해 IP 패킷 전송품질 파라미터(ITU-T Y.1540)들을 인가하면서 이들 파라미터들의 변화에 따른 E-Model(ITU-T G.107) 종합 음성품질(R 값)을 측정하여 인터넷전화 단말의 프로세싱 품질을 파악하고 종단간서비스에서 단말이 차지하는 부분을 분석하여 인터넷 전화서비스의 통화품질 개선 및 향후 단말의 인증기준 등에 활용하고자 한다.

  • Internet was first designed only for sending data, but as the time passed, internet started to evolve into a broadband multi-media web that is capable of transmitting sound, video, high-capacity data and more due to the demands of internet users and the rapid changing internet-communication technology. Domestically, in January, 2000 Saerom C&T, launched a free VoIP, but due to limited ways of conversation(PC to PC) and absence of a revenue model, and bad speech quality, it had hit it's growth limit. This research studied VoIP based on technological enhancement in super-speed internet. According to IDC, domestic internet market's size was 80,800 million in 2008, and it formed a percentage of 12.5% out of the whole sound-communication market. in case of VoIP, it is able to maximize it's profit by connecting cable and wireless network, also it has a chance of becoming firm-concentrated monopoly market by fusing with IPTV. Considering the fact that our country is insignificant in MVNO revitalization, regulating organizations will play a significant roll on regulating profit between large and small businesses. Further research should be done to give VoIP a secure footing to prosper and become popularized.

  • Voice of IP(VoIP) technology provides voice service as well as data service via Internet. It has been a promising technology as Internet grows fast and the requirements are increasing. Recently, serveral protocols have been created to allow telephone calls to be made over IP networks, notably, SIP and H.323.   • 21세기에 접어들면서 통신서비스의 새로운 조류는 단연 "Convergence"이다. 기존의 서비스들은 개개의 서비스 매체에 따른 개별망을 통해 제공되어왔으나, 광대역 인터넷의 대중화로 인해 IP 기반으로 발전하고 있으며, 궁극적으로는 가입자 단말기, 유무선 액세스망, 서비스 핵심망, 서비스 플랫폼이 IP기반으로 발전될 전망이다. 이러한 통신 패러다임의 변화에 따라, 급변하는 통신환경의 변화에 적응하고 보다 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스를 하나의 공통된 Network하에 제공하고자 하는 움직임이 Broadband Convergency Network(BCN : 이하 BCN)이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 궁극적인 광대역 통합망을 통한 멀터미디어 서비스 제공의 시발점은 광대역 IP망을 통한 음성 및 데이터 통합 서비스(이하 인터넷전화)라 볼 수 있으며 인터넷전화와 BCN은 분리시켜 생각할 수 없는 이유 중의 하나이다. 그러면 "인터넷전화로 시작되는 BCN은 사업자 및 이용자측면에서 어떠한 의미를 갖는가\ulcorner"를 살펴보기로 한다.(중략)

Software-based Quality Measurement of Mobile VoIP Services (소프트웨어 기반 모바일 VoIP 서비스 품질 측정)

  • The mobile internet telephony service rapidly grows according to the extending deployment of smartphones. Unlike telephony service over a conventional public switched telephone network (PSTN) or mobile network, internet telephony service cannot guarantee its service quality, which can be severer in a wireless environment. Therefore, a more strict and systematic quality management is required for successful settlement and popularization of mobile internet telephony service. Existing quality management scheme using a specific measurement equipment cannot measure all the time so that it performs late management. In order to overcome the problem, this paper develops a software that can be equipped on a user terminal and measures the service quality all the time. By using the developed software, all-time and user-activating service quality monitoring can be supported.

  • 번호이동성 서비스란 전화서비스 가입자가 전화망 사업자, 지역, 서비스의 종류를 변경하여도 종전에 사용하던 전화번호를 변경하지 않고 그대로 사용할 수 있는 서비스를 의미하며, 이러한 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 기존의 전화망에 새로운 기능을 추가하여야 하며 이를 위해서는 국내의 모든 사업자가 기준으로 삼을 수 있는 번호이동성을 위한 표준의 개발이 필요하게 되었다. 국내의 번호이동성은 시내전화 번호이동성부터 시작하여 2G간 이동전화 번호이동성, 3G간 이동전화 번호이동성, 2G-3G간 이동전화 번호이동성 및 2008년부터는 인터넷전화와 유선전화간 번호이동성, 인터넷전화간 번호이동성이 제공될 예정이므로 이와 관련된 기술이 적당한 시기에 개발되었거나 개발되고 있다. 이와 같은 기술에는 ACQ, QoR, OR 등이 있다. 본 고에서는 이와 같은 번호 이동성의 구현 동향, 국외의 번호이동성 현황 및 기술의 동향에 대하여 다룬다.
