  • Satellite communication is not used by many people like mobile communication, but it is a necessary technology for public service and communication services, such as providing the Internet in military, disaster, remote education and medical services, island areas, and infrastructure vulnerable areas. However, on ships and aircraft, mobile communications requiring base stations are either unavailable or restricted in their use. In this paper, we used a Raspberry Pi board as the terminal device to communicate network through satellite modem and PPP protocol, and implemented two-way data link using the text message of the modem to connect to the Thuraya geo-stationary orbit network. In addition, I/O devices were connected to the controller of the terminal equipment to design and implement an IoT device system for ships that can remotely access the system under control and control I/Os and transmit measured data through various sensors.

  • In this paper, we propose an automatic switching technology between the ad-hoc and the infrastructure modes without user intervention in the IEEE 802.11b wireless LAN. Also, we design our proposed technology and implemented on the Linux machine. For this operation, the area within an Access Point (AP) coverage is defined as a switching area, and a node without any transmission in this area is assumed to be able to relay frames between the AP and nodes in the shaded area that is outside the coverage and cannot reach the AP. By using the proposed technology, it is possible to provide the seamless Internet access service to nodes at the ad-hoc mode in the shaded area. In this paper, we explains the operation of the detection method of the switching area, presents the flowchart and implementation environment. To prove the operation of our technology, we obtain the results of captured packets transmitted between nodes and throughput results through ftp transmission experiment. Hence, we can see that our proposed scheme can be improve the wireless access service in wireless and mobile networks.

  • Cyberspace, based on the dramatic development of information and communications technology, has brought enormous benefits to mankind. However, concerns over cyber terrorism and cyber attack are becoming serious. It is time to expand the global dialogue on international security issues in cyberspace. It is imperative to have a common understanding that cyberspace, the infrastructure for prosperity, should not be utilized as a space to create conflicts among states, and that all states agree to build confidence and peace in cyberspace. For this purpose, there are 3 tracks of international cooperations: 1)international cooperation such as UN and Conference on Cyberspace, 2)regional cooperations such as ARF and OSCE. 3)bilateral cooperations such US-Russia Cybersecurity Agreement, US-China presidential level dialogue. This paper will analyze the 1st track of international cooperations of UN and Conference on Cyberspace. With this, Korean government can prepare the forthcoming GGE activities and make our own strategy to deal with the global norms of good behaviour in cyberspace.

  • High-resolution satellite imagery is used in diverse fields such as meteorological observation, topography observation, remote sensing (RS), military facility monitoring and protection of cultural heritage. In satellite imagery, low-resolution imagery can take place depending on the conditions of hardware (e.g., optical system, satellite operation altitude, image sensor, etc.) even though the images were obtained from the same satellite imaging system. Once a satellite is launched, the adjustment of the imaging system cannot be done to improve the resolution of the degraded images. Therefore, there should be a way to improve resolution, using the satellite imagery. In this study, a super resolution (SR) algorithm was adopted to improve resolution, using such low-resolution satellite imagery. The SR algorithm is an algorithm which enhances image resolution by matching multiple low-resolution images. In satellite imagery, however, it is difficult to get several images on the same region. To take care of this problem, this study performed the SR algorithm by calibrating geometric changes on images after applying automatic extraction of feature points and projection transform. As a result, a clear edge was found just like the SR results in which feature points were manually obtained.

  • The culture of Gugok (九曲) and Dongcheon (洞天), which tries to reach the ideological culmination in Confucianism, was widespread throughout the Joseon dynasty. This was an extension of the spirit of studying and honoring Zhu Xi (學朱子, 尊朱子); thereby, Confucian scholars in Joseon expressed the will to follow the teachings of Zhu Xi (朱子) and comforted themselves that they were in the course of attaining the truth. As a realization of this expression of will, scholars designated and operated various scenic sites as Gugoks, following the example of Zhu Xi's Mui Gugok (武夷九曲), and Dongcheons, as a representation of the utopia. These designations are widespread nationwide, with around sixty Gugok locations that have now been reported in academia. However, the actual number of Gugoks exceeds this number, and many of them are currently not identified concerning the exact locations. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the locations of Gugoks and Dongcheons scattered around Seoul, Gyeonggi and Gangwon regions. For the coordinates of Gugoks and Dongcheons, this study referred to the literature, web search and the books published by local cultural institutes. Based on the collected information, the researchers conducted field trips to investigate whether the record exists as a real location and, if so, acquired their coordinates. This study also provides the tables of Gugok or Dongcheon that only exists in the imagination, existed before but now are lost, or are inaccessible. Eight locations in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon regions are understood as Gugok. Among them, Gogun Gugok and Okgye Gugok have relatively clear locations and records. Byeokgye Gugok and Suhoe Gugok, on the other hand, has many locations and titles overlapped, and their established time and managers are unclear. As for Ui Gugok in Seoul, it is known to be set by Hong Yangho, but some parts of its locations are confirmed, others are in dispute, and many locations are damaged. Thirty-eight locations in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon regions are understood as Dongcheon. There are sixteen Dongcheons in Seoul area. Among them, those including Dohwa Dongcheon, Yangsan Dongcheon, and Ssangnyu Dongcheon actually exist but are forbidden to be accessed. There are thirteen Dongcheons in Gyeonggi area. The exact location of Onsu Dongcheon cannot be confirmed because of the development; Gwirae Dongcheon has historical records, but the actual existence cannot be confirmed. There are nine Dongcheons in Gangwon area. The researcher judged that Hwaeum Dongcheon is the misspelled record of Hwaeumdong Jeongsaji (華陰洞精舍址), which is located at the upstream of Gogun Gugok.
