  • These experiments were carried out to study the factors affecting quality and textural characteristics in the preparation of artificial gluten meat (AGM). These results were compared with the raw beef on its properties. Effects of amounts of ingredients on properties of AGM were summarized as follows: 1. On effects of amounts of ingredients, walnut was one of the most factors on the color in AGM The more increased the amounts of walnut, the more decreased hardness, cohesiveness, chewiness, and the more increased springiness and water holding capacity. Therefore, the 30% of walnut added sample became similar to raw beef. 2. The kinds and amounts of oil and mixing methods did not affect on color, shear force, and chewiness, but did on cohesiveness significantly 3. The more increased the salt levels, the better were the hardness and chewiness, but shear force and water holding capacity were not affected. 2% of salt added sample approached to raw beef in hardness, springiness, cohesiveness and chewiness. 4. The more onion levels increased, the more hardness and chewiness decreased.

Electrochemical Characteristics of Artificial Graphite Anode Coated with Petroleum Pitch treated by Solvent (용매 처리 석유계 피치로 코팅된 인조 흑연 음극소재의 전기화학적 특성)

  • In this study, electrochemical characteristics of artificial graphite coated with petroleum pitch using solvent method as anode material of lithium ion battery were investigated. As the solvent, n-hexane, toluene, tetrahydrofuran and quinoline were used. The surface of the prepared anode material was analyzed by SEM and TEM. Also the electrochemical performances of the prepared anode materials were performed by constant current first charge/discharge, cycle, cyclic voltammetry and impedance tests in the electrolyte of $LiPF_6$ dissolved inorganic solvents (EC:DEC=1:1 vol%). The coating thickness of the prepared graphite was about 100-500 nm and the graphite coated with THF solvent had a smoother surface than that using other solvents. It was found that pitch-coated graphite (THF) show the low initial irreversible capacity (51 mAh/g), the high discharge capacity (360 mAh/g) and coulombic efficiency (99%).

  • The policy for Green New Deal will promote the shift of the application to coal as feedstock from coal as fuel. Coal can be used as fuel for production of hydrogen and as feedstock materials such as synthetic graphite or activated carbon. Hydrogen is obtained from syngas produced through Steam carbon(SC), Water-Gas Shift(WGS), and Carbonation reactions, and these processes should be used in conjunction with CO2 sequestration technology. Anthracite has a potential in terms of cost advantage as a feedstock compared to a petroleum pitch, because Synthetic graphite is prepared by heat treating an anthracite with high rank to a graphitization temperature which is in the range of 2400~2800℃, in the presence of inorganic catalyst such as silicon or iron. From several studies, it has been confirmed that coal-based activated carbon(AC) is manufactured with quality similar to the large specific surface area and much micropore volume of lignin-based AC, can be prepared. Therefore it is expected that lignin-based AC is replaced to coal-based AC.

  • The authors report a successful thrombectomy using the AngioJet Rheolytic Thrombectomy System (AngioJet) and an embolic protection device in a patient with femorofemoral bypass graft occlusion. Lower extremity CT angiograms showed occlusion in the left-to-right femorofemoral bypass graft. A rheolytic thrombectomy using the AngioJet and balloon angioplasty restored blood flow to the right lower extremity, and distal embolization may be effectively prevented by placing an embolic protection device within the right superficial femoral artery during the procedure.

Development of Indentation Training System for Pulse Diagnosis (맥진 가압 트레이닝 시스템 개발)

  • Although the pulse diagnosis is the one of the most important diagnostic process to traditional medical doctors, there is no proper communication tool between experts and trainees. In this paper, we have developed a indentation training system which consists of a hardware measuring indent pressure on artificial arm quantitatively and a software providing a indentation training program. The hardware for measurement of indent pressure profile includes 3 load cells embedded in the artificial arm, signal amplification part and digitization part, NI-USB 6009 with 200Hz sampling rate. For setting up a relationship table between weights and output voltages, 8 standard weights were used. To evaluate this hardware, 3 oriental medical specialists were involved and their indent pressure profile were recorded three times respectively. From these, it was found that pulse diagnosis process could be divided into 3 periods and the maximum load were $500g{\cdot}f$ approximately while doctors perform a pulse diagnosis. The indentation training program was implemented with LabView and designed to monitor the differences between the pressure profile of a expert and that of a trainee so to offer some visual feedback to the trainee. Also, this program could provide the trends of training performances. With this developed system, the education of pulse diagnosis is expected to be more quantitative and effective.

Evaluation of Power Generation Performance for Bifacial Si Photovoltaic Modules installed on Different Artificial Grass Floors (인조잔디 바닥종류에 따른 양면수광형 실리콘 태양광 모듈의 발전성능 평가)

  • In this study, the outdoor evaluation test was performed to characterize the highly-reflective artificial grass to be used for bifacial photovoltaic (PV) power generation system. The 60-cell n-type Si monofacial and bifacial PV modules were employed, where two types of bifacial modules were equipped with split-type and box-type junction boxes, respectively. The results showed that the split-type junction box improved the rear-side power production and thus energy yield of bifacial module compared to the box-type junction box causing the shadow effect. Highly-reflective artificial grass achieved relatively high albedo of 0.18, and excellent bifacial gain of 33%, compared to conventional artificial grass with an albedo of 0.14-0.15, and bifacial gain of 29-30%.

Descending Thoracic Aorto-bifemoral Artery Bypass Grafting in a Leriche's Syndrome (Leriche's 증후군에서 흉부하행대동맥-양측 대퇴동맥 우회술)

  • Extra-anatomic graft bypass is frequently performed instead of standard infrarenal aorto-iliac reconstruction in patients with Leriche syndrome in whom the thrombus extends to the level of the renal arteries. However, many different surgical options are still being attempted due to the unsatisfying long-term graft patency. We performed a descending thoracic aorto-bifemoral bypass graft with 14 and 14-7-7 mm artificial vessels through a posterolateral thoracotomy, a median laparotomy, and a longitudinal inguinal incision in a 48-year-old male who suffered from claudication with Leriche syndrome. After surgery, the patient recovered well and was discharged. The patient walked well without any symptoms during the 6 month follow-up period in the outpatient department. We have concluded that descending thoracic aorto-bifemoral bypass grafting could be considered as an alternative method for patients with Leriche syndrome in whom standard infrarenal aorto-iliac reconstruction is unsuitable.

Arteriovenous Fistula Formation with Prosthetic Graft Using the Vena Comitantes as a Venous Outflow (동반정맥을 정맥유출로 이용한 인조혈관 동정맥루 조성술)

  • Background: Arteriovenous fistula formation is not always easy to perform in hemodialysis patients because of poor preservation of veins due to repeated venipuncture and cannulation. We analyzed the patency rate and complications of prosthetic arteriovenous fistulas using the vena comitantes as a venous outflow in the antecubital fossa, which are protected from venipuncture. Material and Method: Between January 2006 and June 2008, 12 patients underwent prosthetic arteriovenous fistula formation using the vena comitantes as a venous outflow. Arterial inflow was via the brachial artery and the graft was placed in a loop fashion. The male-to-female ratio was 7 : 5 and the mean age was $59{\pm}14$ years. Six patients had diabetes mellitus and 10 patients had hypertension. Result: There were no complications, such as a graft infection or bleeding. Five patients showed postoperative stenosis at an average of 3 months. The primary patency rate was 75.0, 65.6, and 52.2% at 3, 6, and 12 months, respectively. All the patients with stenosis were able to continue hemodialysis after intervention therapy. The secondary patency rate was 100% at 12 months. Conclusion: Creation of a prosthetic arteriovenous fistula using uninjured vena comitantes resulted in a good patency rate and this vein may become a substitute for inappropriate superficial veins.

Effects of Oxyfluorinated Graphene Oxide Flake on Mechanical Properties of PMMA Artificial Marbles (함산소불소화 처리된 그래핀 산화물 플레이크가 PMMA 인조대리석의 기계적 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • The nanocomposites containing graphene oxide flakes were prepared in order to improve the mechanical properties of artificial marbles based on poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) matrix. Graphene oxide flakes were prepared from graphite by oxidation with Hummers method followed by exfoliation with thermal treatment. Surface of graphene oxide flakes were modified with oxyfluorination in various oxygene:fluorine compositions to improve the interfacial compatibility. The nanocomposites containing graphenes modified with oxyfluorination in the oxygen content of 50% and higher showed the significant increase in flexural strength, flexural modulus, Rockwell hardness, Barcol hardness, and Izod impact strength. The morphology of fractured surface showed the improved interfacial adhesion between PMMA matrix and the graphenes which were properly treated with oxyfluorination. The mechanical properties of nanocomposite were deteriorated by increasing the content of graphene above 0.07 phr due to the nonuniform dispersion of graphenes.

Comparison of Surface and Air Temperature depending on Cover Materials in Playground (운동장의 피복 유형별 표면 및 대기온도 비교)

  • Playground is frequently used for physical and sports activity by students as well as by common people, which is constructed with various cover materials on the ground. This research surveyed the surface temperature in Kyungpook National University Sangju campus playground which is covered with various cover materials [bare field, zoysiagrass (Zoysia japonica) turf field, urethane track, concrete field, epoxy field and artificial turf field] in Sangju, Gyeongsangbukdo, Korea. Temperature was measured 4 times per day at 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, and 18:00 from May to October 2014 in surface and 1 m height above the ground. Surface temperature was different, depending on cover materials and survey time. Bare field and zoysiagrass turf field was lower surface temperature than other sites. Higher surface temperature site was different depending on survey time. Urethane track and artificial turf field was hotter than other sites at 12 and 15 hours, however concrete and epoxy field was hot at 18 hours. One meter above ground temperature was the highest in artificial turf field except at 18 hours. So natural turf, zoysiagrass playground will increase the athletic performance by reduce the surface and above ground temperature.
